DJ..thanks for the great advise and turtorial. I followed it but still can't see my buttons on the screen. Do I need to install anything on my phone? Also I had heard of Vicreo but never had it installed till now...Thanks again!
I was recently turned onto this, but my main interest is in finding a way to use this with digital audio workstations like Cubase. There's no content out there about using this software with Cubase or any other DAW without including the Stream Deck hardware (which I'm not interest in at that price point). Cubase has a software controller called Cubase iC Pro, but it's horribly broken with the current iOS versions and I'd like to find an alternative until Steinberg fixes the software. Does this work with Cubase, Logic, Reason, Ableton, Bitwig, etc?
Great video - thanks. Is it possible to programe a button to show the play time remaining for a video in OBS? So its easier to prepare for the next transition.
I am not sure. In order for this to work, you'd need two things. First, OBS would have to be sending that data out somehow (maybe check web sockets?). If they are, then you need a way to bring it into companion. I did not see any dynamic variable for such at thing yet, but it may be in the works. You can submit a request on their github page as well.
@@djlefave Thanks for your reply. I'll continue to search around. It would be so neat if OBS could do this, I know you can do it with VLC and as OBS uses that for media clips I guess it must be possible. Thanks again.
@@heartofmonmouthshireminist2346 The StreamDeck itself has a 'Timer' function you can assign to a button and set the duration of the countdown, but it's a manual process-- you have to press it when you start the video, then the countdown shows in on the StreamDeck button.
How to open a powerpoint file, or powerpoint itself. I see a lot of movies with all possibilities but no one explained how it is setup. Look for a way to open Powerpoint in MacOs. To start a powerpoint. or to switch slides is no problem.
The vicreo istener instance can open files on windows. There may be a local general instance that does this now as well, but I'd have to check it out later after I do all of my responsible adult in for the day ;) You looking for Mac or Windows options?
Great Video! I'm having trouble connecting my phone or ipad to companion to control it remotely. Whenever I enter the http address listed on the companion into my device it tells me ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. Any thoughts?
Are you on the same wifi network? The other possibility, which is more likely, is that your firewall is blocking the connection, hence the connection refused error.
@@djlefave yeah they are on the same network. I tried to disable my Norton firewall for 15 minutes but it still gave me that error. Is there a way to manually and permanently give permission to the application for outside connection?
@@sethjones4175 when you installed companion, if on windows, did the option to allow access through firewall appear? You have two firewalls to contend with it sounds like. Norton and your os. The router should not be coming into play here as they are on the same network. Other thing..... Are you configured as local just 127..... Or the private ip 192.168.....??
Hi DJ Lefave, I really appreciate all the tips on your videos -I have a Zoom nonprofit event(volunteer) coming up for kids with DS and I have would like some help setting up few things - I will be using VDJ Software & a DJ Controller - I need help setting up a good Kids friendly OBS background for the event
I am so frustrated and I don't who else to contact. I have watched your video's over and over and for some reason I guess I have a mind block. I have two stream decks..the mobile I use at home and the mini at church to RUN powerpoint. I have 2 presentations in Power Point. One Slide show for Announcements and a separate one for Song Lyrics. That means I have to turn one-off (Announcements) and the make the other one active.(Lyrics) The Announcement Slideshow runs by itself, but the Lyrics are advanced by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. I also know that if I use a window's shortcut, (ALT+TAB) I can move from the Announcements to the Lyrics without hesitation. I would like to use the Stream Deck Mini to do just that..I have downloaded your buttons that you created on your website but for the life of me I can't figure how to use them. I have tried to copy the key strokes that you have used where I can. I also would like to use companion on my Stream Deck Mobile but don't seem to be able to configure the keys on it..I know I am a mess and if your to busy to help, I certainly understand. I used to be a DJ in my younger days working for A Country Station in Springfield, Mo. KTTS! But that was back when they had real records. Again sorry for wasting your time but if there is any way you could help I would be willing to pay for your time. Thanks so much Mike

You will need to open the web URL the Companion "server" is running on then you can open the mobile button view

Be on the same network, then type in your computers ip address followed by. /emulator.html
