It was 1998 and I was so excited to find Hurricane Mills by accident, driving from Boston to S. California. I was sad that Miss Lynn was not home so I went to her restaurant before getting back on the road West. As I was eating some mighty good food when I heard that famous voice coming from the kitchen and there she popped out of the kitchen wearing an old apron and spit-fire as all get out about gravy. She apologized to the folks and said; " If it ain't done right. It don't come out MY kitchen ! " The whole dining room stood and and gave her standing ovation right there in the dinning room. Loretta smiled and said. " It's just gravy folks !" ~ and laughed her gorgeous laugh. What a lady, what a sweetheart, what a true legend. Love her !
Thank You Jerry sure do appreciate your videos for I won’t see many of the places you cover but I definitely will see Loretta’s cabin and ranch .I ❤Her-music and Respect her so much 🫶
Perfection once again, Jerry. I loved your explanation of mother's love - caring for the little birds as they leave the nest. That little gem will stick with me forever. Many thanks
Being from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky myself. I've grew up on her music along with many others. I think I'm watching all of Jerry's documentaries for the sixth time now. They are so well done. Keep it up Mr Skinner.
I met Loretta Lynn in Atlanta Georgia that goes 1972 she let me in my wife come into her bus in between the two shows never will forget that moment rest in peace Loretta we love you
Wow i went to see her in 2007 in tunica, ms down on the riverboats. I'll always love her. my friends right today laugh at me when i play her music in my car and home because I'm black. I'm like my dad i love country music and Loretta Lynn is my favorite. yes i have all her music with me where ever i go. i didn't get to shake her hand that night, but i did get to see her sing live as she set in the chair. I love you Mrs. Lynn.
Brenda Gray I would Loved to have seen Loretta preform. I grew up listening to country music when with my mother driving back to Nebraska from Denver Colorado. My older brother n sister gave me all the other rock music from the 60s n 70s... I was really blessed with all of it. I wonder if you ever watched the movie Coal Miners Daughter? About Loretta Lynn’s life. You and I are the same age. Little did I know how much things would change, country music is just one of them. I miss those days and times gone by.
My (now former wife) and I went to see Loretta Lynn perform in the early 1990s in Ann Arbor Michigan Mrs. Lynn was very warm and gracious, just like the portrayal of her in the Coal Miner's Daughter movie. She looks like a slight little thing hardly over 5 feet tall. and at the end of her performance she gathered her skirts and curtsied to each section of the audience, just like a southern belle. it was very sweet and heartwarming.
Jerry Skinner, no one can do it like you. I love your soothing voice!!! Please continue your stories, it shows you like what you do. GOD bless you and thank you!!! 💝💝💝
One of the finest singers in all history. Her songs were scattered all over my childhood on the big album of life. May God keep you safe and close. God bless you, Loretta Lynn.
In 1981 I had the good fortune to see Loretta Lynn sing at the Grand ole Opry, she sang Cole miner's daughter. I would love to have seen a whole concert bk in the day. I was only 17 when I was at the Opry. Great video!!
Mr.Skinner I Adore Loretta Lynn ♡♡♡ I could not count how many times I've watched coal miners daughter!!! My daughter surprised me and took me to see her perform!! I was 16 & husband 18 when we married And still married. I wasn't aware she lost 2 children- that is heartbreaking. Than to loose the person you started your life with, soo loss for words :( Thank You Soo Much For Sharing
I got to go see Loretta in person when she performed at Topeka,Kansas's Performing Arts Center years ago. After the concert i had the privilege of getting my picture taken in front of her touring bus i will never forget that night.
I remember listening to her from when I was a boy back in the 60's, what a classic lady! My dad thought she had one of the most honest voices on the radio, I have to agree.
Excellent video! I just finished watching "Coal Miners Daughter ". I've seen it several times, Loretta Lynn's life is very interesting! I'm African American and not too familiar with country music, but I know a great story when I see one!
I started listening to Loretta when I was young and in school. I bought her records and my daddy bought me a record player with a storage place in the bottom of the record player. I loved it. She was my favorite singer. I collected all of her albums. I still listen to her sing. I live in a small town in Kentucky that has a college in it. Loretta came there and I got to see and hear her sing. Later she came close to my home and I went to see her again. I love Loretta Lynn ❤
What a wonderful story piece on Ms Lynn her incredible husband saw her talent: marriages work when both are in tune with each other. Sad those she has lost. She is beautiful. God bless.🌹
She was always my wife’s favorite singer . We went to see her Homeplace for my wife’s birthday last year in Kentucky, such a neat little cozy home in the end of a hollow . I really enjoyed the tour given by a family member toured house and store . She looked so sad in that last picture you showed holding microphone. Getting old sucks especially when all your loved ones start disappearing. It’s a terrible thing to have to witness. Much respect for the queen of country. I was related to patsy kline On my dads side of the family. Her and patsy were good friends Love you Loretta 🙏🙏👏👏 Great presentation of everybody’s hero Jerry Thank you so much Very touching
Thanks Jerry for this. The Queen of true country music.Yes I cant forget that the late Tammy Wynette was too.....I always love Loretta Lynn and her tunes. She is one of my all time favorites. She lived a hard life. She also lost her singing partner Conway Twitty back in 1993..
Jerry, thank you for this documentary. Loretta, as with Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson and Tanya Tucker, holds such a dear spot in my heart. My mom (I always teased) loved "both" kinds of music; country and western. So many of my favorite memories include the amazing music of these ladies and many other country musicians.
I love this one very much !! I finally got to go to Loretta Lynn's ranch about 4 yrs ago . I went on my birthday Nov. 3rd . I was so happy !! I guess because it was the end of the season and right before they shut the ranch down for the holidays....there wasn't very many people there . It was only my husband and I and one other couple that went on the tour of her house . The tour guide made us feel right at home . That made it even more special !! I've seen Loretta in concert only 1 time when I was about 15 years old and I've seen Coal Miners Daughter probably 200 times no joke . lol !! My whole family loves that movie . Thank you Mr. Skinner for sharing Loretta Lynn's story . You tell it the best !! God bless and Have a Happy Thanksgiving !!
That is a beautiful video and audio wonderful story about a very talented and great country singer. One of the best, you can say. I love listening to Loretta, & her duets, especially with Conway Twitty.

I've been a Loretta Lynn fan ever since I can remember. Over the years I had the awesome pleasure of meeting this incredible legend twice, and she was a gracious and friendly as her reputation denotes. She has a new CD coming out this August.
Everyone loves Loretta Lynn. Just a kind sweet girl with a lovely voice and a good heart. She blazed a trail for women and spoke up through her music on issues that no one wanted to talk about. She was proud of her family and I respect and admire her for that. She was a lucky girl to come from such a loving home.
I really enjoyed this video so much. You were able to paint a perfect picture of someone with precise detail plus more in 14 minutes than ANY autobiography or 90 minute movie ever could.
I'm sitting here bawling like a baby. I love Loretta Lynn so much. Loretta please come to Branson, Missouri I want so much to see you and hear your beautiful voice!
Saw her in concert at Magic Mountain in 1979, after seeing her first show and waiting to see her second show I came across Moon sitting outside waiting for her. I talk with him for about 5 minutes shook his had and went in to see her second show. I asked Loretta to sing a Patsy song and she sang "Crazy"
Jerry Skinner, I’m from Michigan and just subscribed to your channel. You’re a good ole country boy, and I very much enjoy your documentaries. Thank you sir, keep up the great work!

Another great one Mr. Jerry! I have followed her career since the 1960s when I found stacks of her albums in my mama's records. What a life & career.......just amazing! Thanks- Herb :)
Great video and storytelling. Loved the way you told the story of a mother's love, also. That is very true. Thank you again for all your videos, Mr. Skinner.
Mr. Skinner, I spent many years producing television programs. I want to commend and thank you for the videos you produce, because I enjoy them very much.

Your soothing voice is a pleasure to listen to as you bring famous people to life in a whole new way. Many thanks from Missouri!
Great lady in spite of her tremendous success she never forget where she came from She is like a huge tree that constantly nurture its Roots. Her story regarding her life's journey will long continued to transcend generations and will act as a beacon to others in all endeavors as they aspire for success.Big up Loretta the Queen of country music people from my generation in Jamaica still adore your life and music long lived the true Queen.
Thank you so much. I have followed Loretta Lynn since my early teens (some forty years ago) and she is just now preparing for the release of her next album, 'Full Circle.' I can't wait. Several days ago when I learned of the upcoming release, I pre-ordered my CD. I also plan to purchase a vinyl version when I can afford to do so. I am in awe at how great she sounds even today. Thank you for putting together this really nice video -- I enjoyed watching.
loretta actually stayed at my aunts house over nite many yrs ago. story is she was performing in Youngstown ohio just starting out. her accommodations fell thru & my aunt & family overheard this while in a restaurant where loretta was dining as well. so they took a chance & asked if she might consider staying at their home. loretta accepted & my cousin said what a shock to find her at kitchen table next morning as he was going to school. they kept a pair of her hosery & my cousin kept the brush she used. he later was a hairdresser in palm springs. I was adopted at age 2 & reunited with birth family 37 yrs later where I heard this story. I was a semi professional singer & enjoyed doing her songs. This was a very well done video. Thanks for posting.
Again Jerry Skinner I learned some details about Loretta I didn't know. In 1994 I had the pleasure of meeting Loretta Lynn and her twins, Peggy & Patsy in Nashville. I'm a song writer and dropped off a couple of tapes to her. Thanks Jerry!
Mr. Skinner, just found your channel. Your voice sounds like pure West Tennessee. Very nostalgic, like listening to my grandfather tell stories when I was a child. Thank you.
Great video, thanks for putting this together and sharing with everyone. I admire Loretta for never forgetting where she came from. I seem to recall that around the time her son died she was in the hospital and that Conway also passed--I think before the son. I also heard that her oldest grandson past away within the last couple of week. Anyway, thanks again for sharing
🙏🌠 Your Documentrys Are Absolutely Outstanding. Thank You For Taking Your Time To Edit All Of Your Documentrys. Your Voice Is Awesome Too . What A Lady She Is . ☺
James Vaughan I have actually had tears come to my eyes watching Loretta sing "Coal Miners Daughter" on the Grand Ole Opry about 10 years ago. The flashes of camera's was like a strobe light. It was emotional because she deserves the title, Living Legend.
@@happygayconservative4737 , I got to go to Nashville twice and stand on the original stage at the Ryman Auditorium ( the old Grand Ole Opry ) . Now they have remodeled it and no one can go up on the stage anymore. I even got to go back where the dressing rooms were . I signed my name on the wall with about a million other signatures , but now they have painted over them and I don't guess they let anyone go back there anymore. But ....when I stood on that stage the 1st person I thought about was Loretta Lynn . Then others like Patsy Cline , George Jone , Tammy Wynette , Conway Twitty, Elvis Presley !!!!!!! ( boy they didn't know what they were missing out on when they didn't except Elvis !! ) and so many more that stood on that same stage . That will always be a special moment for me and one I will never forget .
My oldest Brother was a burn victim and spent a lot of time at the hospital. One day Loretta sat next to my Mother in the waiting room and introduced herself. This being in Japan and my Mother being Japanese, my Mother had no idea who she was. Loretta was on a USO tour and was missing her children. She changed my Brothers diapers.
Love Loretta Lynn, her voice, everything about her. I feel for Loretta for all she went through. May her spirit soar high with the eagle, safely to Paradise, akee shahen kenwa. Peace & ♡Love♡ Always All. Blessings and Prayers Lifted.
Woo-hoo, Washington State ! My neck of the woods ! :) I do believe that my mom n dad met Ms. Lynn and often stated that she was nice and polite, the way a genteel Southern gal was raised to be. She never had a cross word to say about anyone. :) Very polite and well-mannered.
Thanks for sharing this great video of Loretta Lynn and her life . I finally got to go visit her ranch at Hurricane Mills a couple of years ago on my birthday. My husband surprised me by taking me there. I had no idea he was planning this trip . It was so exciting !! I have always wanted to visit her ranch . Now , I want to visit Graceland and Tupelo Mississippi where Elvis was born . I would love to visit where Loretta Lynn's childhood home is in Kentucky also . Maybe someday. I am the same age as Loretta Lynn's twins Peggy & Patsy . All of her kids are beautiful and handsome. I didn't see any of the kids the day we went to visit her ranch, but I did see one of her grandson. I don't recall them telling us who his mother or father was though. He was blowing the leaves off of the road in front of the house . It was only my husband & I and one other couple there that day . The staff made us feel right at home. I hope we get to visit it again someday.
love the bird nest analogy! I've used it many times. I also have a wounded bird who has had to come back to the nest to grow his wings. love your videos!
What a lovely video. Nice job! I've always loved Loretta Lynn. I'm surprised she's still around, what with all the children and the loss. Thank you for creating and sharing this video. - Joan

Great lady in spite of her tremendous success she never forget where she came from
She is like a huge tree that constantly nurture its Roots.
+A Crawford Boy Thank you Crawford Boy for watching. Jerry
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL STORY, AND LESSSON. THANK YOU
+Rose Jackson Hi Rose and thank you. Jerry
Rose Jackson is the first to
loretta actually stayed at my aunts house over nite many yrs ago. story is she was performing in Youngstown ohio just starting out. her accommodations fell thru & my aunt & family overheard this while in a restaurant where loretta was dining as well. so they took a chance & asked if she might consider staying at their home. loretta accepted & my cousin said what a shock to find her at kitchen table next morning as he was going to school. they kept a pair of her hosery & my cousin kept the brush she used. he later was a hairdresser in palm springs. I was adopted at age 2 & reunited with birth family 37 yrs later where I heard this story. I was a semi professional singer & enjoyed doing her songs. This was a very well done video. Thanks for posting.
Kathryn Richards uuhu
I sang her songs for 25 years myself in bands. Her songs are so real.

did that brush launch his hairdressing career?
Again Jerry Skinner I learned some details about Loretta I didn't know. In 1994 I had the pleasure of meeting Loretta Lynn and her twins, Peggy & Patsy in Nashville. I'm a song writer and dropped off a couple of tapes to her. Thanks Jerry!
Thank you Don, i wish you the best my friend. Jerry
Keep making these great video's, you have a natural talent on how you narrate all your video's
Mr. Skinner, just found your channel. Your voice sounds like pure West Tennessee. Very nostalgic, like listening to my grandfather tell stories when I was a child. Thank you.
AMEN TO THAT !!!!!
Loud Planet Live Hi! Paris,Tennessee, here!!
Hardin County (West Tennessee) here!
I stumbled onto this video, but as soon as I heard your voice I knew it was worth watching. Big fan. Thanks.

All of your videos have been good but this one is particularly well done. Thanks!
Loved the background music.
Thanks again Jerry Great job as usual !!!!!!!!!!
Loretta Lynn has always been my favorite country singer
Loretta remained true to her roots. Some country singers forget where they came from as soon as they get some success but not Loretta. She is genuine.
Loretta Lynn - an authentic human being.
James Vaughan I have actually had tears come to my eyes watching Loretta sing "Coal Miners Daughter" on the Grand Ole Opry about 10 years ago.
The flashes of camera's was like a strobe light.
It was emotional because she deserves the title, Living Legend.
James Vaughan
Well said, and likely few understand the strong serious meaning -
@@happygayconservative4737 , I got to go to Nashville twice and stand on the original stage at the Ryman Auditorium ( the old Grand Ole Opry ) .
Wonderful video and story of a first class lady and her family. Truly the voice of an angel.
A wonderful little documentary honoring such a great woman and entertainer. Thank you!
Mr. Skinner, you deserve a medal from National endowment For The Arts.
Don't know how I missed this one until today. Great video Jerry
Again you are a great narrator. I am now a big fan of yours and watching all your videos. Great job.

+Jerry Skinner. Ur welcome Jerry! 😀😀👍👍
Beautiful. Well done MR Skinner!
I live about an hours drive from Butcher Hollow (also known as Butcher Holler)
Love the videos Jerry.
Still truly amazing that Loretta Lynn is was Crystal Gayle sister. Both truly amazing artist and talented singer and songwriter. God bless them.
Jerry, you make the best documentaries I've seen on RUclips. Thank you!
Well done, very well done! Thanks for your good work. I enjoy them all. 🇺🇸🤟🏻
Awesome work! Beautiful blend of professional and down home production.
Great video Jerry! What a lady! Thanks for this one and all of your hard work.

Loretta Lynn is as American as you will find, a true American legend.
