I worked for Suncoast for 4 1/2 years before it shut down in my mall in 2006. Then I worked for FYE after their company acquired Suncoast for 2 1/2 years before that shut down, too. I loved working in those stores. Funny thing is, we used to sign people up for Netflix subscriptions not realizing that that would be our downfall.
CD's came out in 83 get your physical media while you can! Because digital copies of movies are going to disappear and there's movies you can't see anymore on digital anymore! And Even if you buy a digital copy like from a big streaming company once they take it out of their library yours will disappear too!
Musicland, Sam Goody, Suncoast and most recently FYE. Growing up in Mpls, St. Paul I visited all of these stores very frequently. And I miss every one of them. 😥
All of us 80’s buffs remember Suncoast and all the other music and video stores back in the day. Virgin records, Sam Goody. Our locals were Sound Warehouse and Hastings. The 80’s were so awesome.
I used to love Suncoast!! There was one in every mall in the Metro Milwaukee area but the most unique one was in the old Grand Avenue Mall that was a Suncoast and a Musicland store together with just a transitional doorway between the two. This location looks just like it did back in the 90s/ early 00s
Whoa, I didn’t know any Suncoast stores still existed, that makes me happy! I have such fond memories of Suncoast- I got my VHS copy of the OVA Sonic the Hedgehog movie there along with lots of other anime stuff in my youth.
I had no idea you were a one-time movie producer! We learn something new every day! For some reason I thought FYE and, in turn, Suncoast, went out of business a long time ago. Online everything is pretty much why malls are starting to flounder...right? It's also weird to see media coming full circle. I thought vinyl was outdated to the point it was never coming back, but now they're extremely popular again for some reason.
Yeah, everything comes back into popularity I think, every 10-20 years or so. And yeah, I used to produce, act and do a bunch of film related activities 😊
Holy Hell, I worked part time at a Suncoast in IL for about 7 years until the one I worked at shut the doors in 2006. I didn't thonk any existed anymore, this is amazing.
I was just there, this past weekend after I hit the arcade downstairs in that mall. I'm always surprised to see that it's still there and love to wander around it! Thanks for spotlighting it.
Have no idea how I didn’t see this video until now! That’s my local mall and I had no idea how special that store was tbh. Been in there so many times and never knew!
To this day it is still a thriving mall, It's in a well to do suburb with NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION from downtown area. They also have great security and local Police.
This is certainly up my ally. I don't remember seeing those commercials as a kid so we must not have had one near us. I have been buying tapes and cd's at thrift stores for a buck or 2 because I figured that would be popular again and I want to get the good stuff before it can't be found like a lot of records had happen.
I remember early 2000’s going to my suncoast to buy Mighty beanz when they retook them out again. It was awesome, huge and plenty of aisles or movies CDs and collectibles. I miss these stores, blockbusters, etc. My state, Wisconsin, only has one FYE in regency mall, Racine and it’s awesome. Also , happy new years Chris , it’s an honor traveling with you all this year on your adventures , can’t wait to see what 2024 has in stock for us 🤝
I legit found the rarest Chuck E. Cheese in the world. Located in Thousand Oaks California. It is still one of the last locations to have a Chuck E. Cheese sports room. To find it go toward where the emergency exit by the prize counter. It should be up a ramp and then you will see the room with a lot of 90s and maybe even 80s art or even art you never seen in a CEC before
chris!!! you should try to make it back to Tallahassee by the end of february, i just did some work on the stage and it's looking the best it has since 2018, highly recommend going before the remodel
I actually still have a few VHS as they don't have them digitized or atleast I'm not paying for them when I can still be kind rewind. Never went to one of these though. We had small video rental stores in the town i grew up in. We would rent our favorites then copy them cuz we were poor. I don't think we ever bought a vhs new always rented from the library. At least until blockbuster became big. I have DVDs and CDs still. Even make them as once an apocalypse happens and there's nothing to watch all i need is a car battery and my standard def vhs dvd combo tv.

Suncoast was my go to in the late 90s/early 00s. I was crushed when the store at my local mall went out of business.

Oh my god. I'm tearing up, I'm 31 and this was one of my absolute favorite stores in the mall when I was a kid
Nice history and tour of one of the last Suncoast! Enjoyed it! 🌞📼
Use to visit one in my local mall with my dad. Man fun times. Remember the hype when they started to release Star Merchandise again.
I didn't know this place still existed, it's just awesome!
It's a shame that they disappear over time.
I live in Dayton and I had no idea that Suncoast was still here at Fairfield mall thanks for this! I’ll have to go and check it out while I still can.

Agreed!

Crazy to see you at this mall! I knew the Suncoast/FYE was unique, but I never gave it much thought since it’s been there since I was a kid, lol.
Have no idea how I didn’t see this video until now! That’s my local mall and I had no idea how special that store was tbh. Been in there so many times and never knew!
I used to work at both places back in the day! Good times!
Warms my heart to see this. Used to love Suncoast in the mall and dig through the posters :)
I was actually just here last year while visiting Dayton. It was honestly pretty neat.
That mall looks amazing
To this day it is still a thriving mall, It's in a well to do suburb with NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION from downtown area. They also have great security and local Police.
miss that store, it always had movies no one else had
Wow it’s amazing a few still exist out there.

Omg I loved this store growing up. I can't believe there are some left. Thank you for sharing.
i used to work at suncoast video in pittsburgh i really miss going to a record store or a video store
Please visit the one in El Monte, California on Peck Rd. That’s the one I grew up near. I remember they had that underground hole under the stage.
Honestly amazing. I wasn’t born in 1980s but Chris makes me feel how it felt like to be in that era. HAPPY NEW YEAR CHRIS!
Thank you so much! HNY 😁
Crazy I went to this store a couple months back and never knew this was one of the last ones out there
Man I loved this store, when ever I went to the mall as a kid the first places I went was Suncoast and EB games. The memories!
You’re awesome man!!!!! I remember Suncoast myself.

I've got to say, I think I appreciated things a lot more before the Internet was a big deal and everything wasn't so easy and convenient to get.

Happy new year Chris
HNY!
Go to new Orleans, Chuck E. Cheese can you see if the animatronics are still there?
No they are all gone and I've done videos at several of them if you care to check my CEC playlist.
I always was partial to T.J. LAZER instead of T.J.Hooker.
💙🔥💙
Do they have the Chuck E Cheese posters you are after? 😅 12:37
I wish! 🤣
How does this exist! I guess technically blockbuster still has one location too.
So it's just FYE... At least the storefront, walls and ceilings are nice LOL.
Will you be going to billy bobs wonderland anytime soon?
Nothing planned yet
Thanks for the reply
can you visit any chuck e. cheese’s in kentucky???
I visited the one in Louisville last year, video is in my CEC playlist :)
@@SetsStreetsEats alrighty :)
