I visited this building last year. It was the most remarkable and most interesting and most fascinating cite I’ve ever been to. There’s was so much to look at and so much to ponder on. It was amazing.

The building just looks so weird in the sky. The amazing thing about the Twin Towers was that no matter where you stood, either Staten Island, Brooklyn or Middle Manhattan, they always looked the same and had the same massive impact.
Because 1 WTC shrinks at the top, it has this kind of weird angles if you look at it from different corners. In fact it only looks good if you see it from the West Side on the Hudson River.
I had rather wanted the Twin Towers to be rebuilt because they were so impressive, icons and represented what the greatest city on Earth stood for. "Dream no small dreams". As in Frank Sinatra's famous lyrics.

+Hector Rivera Did you know the Twin Towers are exactly as tall as One WTC? Both 1368ft. tall at the tip of its roof. Just because One WTC has a 408 ft. skeletal spire on top, does not make it more massive or impressive than the Twin Towers.

DJultra_01 RobloxGaming Taller by cheating you mean? It is not exactly a feat of engineering or a marvel when you add a 408 ft. antenna made of steel and concrete on top of its roof.
This height of 1776 ft. is therefore fake. At least the Twin Towers had real height. From bottom to top they were equal in dimension.
Glass... Just like every modern building out there, I liked the twin towers because it WASN'T made with a glass design.
They were so unique and it is a tragedy what happened.
@House Keeper the terrorists chose the twin towers because they wanted a cinematic attack. Something with a lot of symbolism. A lot of people died in a horrible way and that is awful. But I think some people also forget the twin towers were really beautiful, they just think of 9/11.
People critiqued the twin towers because they looked like brutalistic steel boxes. And keep in mind that a lot of buildings in that time looked the same way. Just smaller.

I think One World Trade Center is a beautiful building that accentuates the skyline of New York very well, and being just one building makes it very symbolic.

We all miss the Pre World Trade Center and the new one may not have the same charm as the old ones but it's much safer, stronger, aesthetically pleasing which most people don't want to admit, compared to the old towers, and more advanced in a technological and structural standpoint, the materials used to made into Freedom tower are outstanding and makes it the strongest building in existence.

dvchel very late comment, but many New Yorkers actually despised the old twin towers. They thought they looked ugly & the two towers created a disturbing wind tunnel, especially on windy & rainy days.

And you guys think this isn't better than the Twin Towers? Please, this site is far more magnificent and meaningful than the original site. Wait and see how it'll look once everything is finished. Don't get me wrong, it seemed great the way it was, and this is coming from a 16 year old who never got to see it and wishes he could go back in time and see and experience what was there. However, this site personifies what America is truly about even better than what was there, while honoring the symbols that once stood in the form of two reflecting pools and the 3,000 constituents we lost in the attacks. This country will never be the same, but it's certainly for the better. If there's a feel good story that can be told, this is it. A nation coming together after an unimaginable catastrophe by building one of the most attractive, exciting, and profound sites ever constructed.

+Jacob Forrest We perfectly understand that you say this if you haven't lived in NYC in the 80's and 90's and can't remember 9/11 and the impact it had if you were too young. But hey, everybody has their own opinion.
I personally visited the Twin Towers in 1997 and they were absolutely amazing and stunning. Its beauty lay in the eye of the beholder. The message too. The WTC was the only project so far that was built with the intention of promoting world peace and cooperation.
These arguments form the perfect base why the Twin Towers should be rebuilt. They were such an integral and beautiful part of NYC. They were truly icons. If you haven't watched the WTC Episode on Modern Marvels on the History Channel you should.

It was said that this building has it's elevators within it's core so if it's hit by a plane those on the upper floors should be able to get out.
This was designed to keep standing.
The old twin towers were actually not built too well at all, even for 1970s standards. If you read up on it, you will find out that many corners were cut for budget reasons.

The monument to the Twin Towers has only one tower. I would have thought two buildings would have more appropriately represented the double-building concept.

The tallest structure in the United States is not a skyscraper, rather, it's a TV mast in North Dakota, and it's 2,063 feet tall!

You are absolutely correct. The outdoor observation deck on the original South Tower was at 1,377 feet and the indoor observatory was at 1,310 feet. The new 1 WTC has an (indoors only) observatory at 1,254 feet, no where even close to the Original Twin Towers...

By not rebuilding the twin towers and just having their foot prints filled with water at the 9/11 memorial, shows that the terrorists succeeded in defeating America. We let the terrorists win. We let them get away with destroying our symbols and what they stood for. Now when these terrorists look at the New York City skyline they laugh at us every day all because we failed to rebuild a better version of the original Twin Towers.
We cannot bring back the lives that were lost on 9/11, but we could have done better than this. The Freedom Tower or One World Trade Center does not honor people who died on 9/11 in 2001. This new building represents weakness and a sign of defeat.
