I was lucky enough to find one in pretty good shape. watching you is extremely good for someone enjoying my long dormant skills in basic cleaning and how far you go. I was a newspaper reporter who is resuming a renewal for myself as much as this battle tank of a typewriter.
Thanks for sharing your whole process. I would like to suggest installing copper vise jaw covers to grip screws in a vise. Leather or soft wood also works well. Otherwise, the screw threads get damaged. For the little pin of the left line guide that was missing, what did you use to replace it? Did you clean the paper injector mechanism? Thanks! Daniel
Thank you. I have not replaced the part. I found it in the machine. I welded it together and it worked again. Surprisingly, the paper feed mechanism was clean and I didn't have to clean it. Greetings from Germany
Наша Листвица! Интересно было поглядеть на то как выглядит оригинал. Красивый аппарат конечно, не даром внешний вид Sg1 был заимствован у пишущей машине Волга, хотя сама машина внутри напоминает Оптиму м12.
The video is a bit older and in the meantime I use other products. For polishing I use meguiars and for oil I usually use non-resinous oil. Attention! Typewriters need almost no oil
@@badulai4329 The problem turned out to be something completely different! One of the spurs sticking up from the space bar linkage was bent and rubbing on the 'o' key linkage. I carefully bent it back, and now all my keys are free and clear!
Wow, sieht gleich viel besser aus! Beim Ölen nehme ich aber mittlerweile einen feinen, dünnen Pinsel anstatt Zahnstocher, um ein bisschen mehr Öl an die Stellen zu bekommen, wo es nötig ist.
What is the brown smears on the inside? I have seen a few of these models, and they all have that same brown substance inside all the body panels. Is it something done at the factory or just a coincidence?
I suspect that was the glue that held foam to the housing cover to make the machine write more quietly. This foam simply dissolves after many years. I had a totally bad approach to the machine in this video.... Today I would do a lot of things differently.
AH interesting - I have just bought one - it arrives on Monday. It does not have the paper injector and I was confused. I live in Bulgaria and wanted a Latin keyboard QWERTY or QWERTZ so I was very limited in my choice - the weight makes international shipping a none starter. I could not even find a picture of one without the paper injector - so I was confused. Was this a domestic version or something...?
Just got a SG-1. My first going to use this video tomorrow to do just what you did:) great video, thank you. I have a question The part that was welded.I feel they are spring loaded, what do they do when squeezed inward? Do they release something? Thanks for a great video.
The Part i Welded can be moved to the left and to the right. If it is on the left (1), those Plastic Things cant be moved away from the platton. If it is on the right (2) you can. I think this is Used, when you Put a few papers in or a thickk one.
@@hazkhan6124 ahh... That typewriter has nearly all functions a typewriter can have. I also Made a video about it. I know it is in german, but maybe you can see all functions I presented.
Hello, great Idea with the typing start center. I usually buy my typewriters on a german platform called eBay Kleinanzeigen. But I guess it wont work in India. Maybe you can try it on Facebook🤷♂️ I dont really know where to buy them aswell

This is so helpful! We are following step by step with 1960 SG-1! Thank you!

Please...what do you use to polish the chrome and specifically, where do you put the oil. What type of pil do you use? Thank you from western Canada.

Fantastic! Great video! Can't wait to find one of these machines. Thank you for sharing 😁
Thank you, if you get the chance to get one, take it. It writes very pleasantly and also has a few special functions.
Do you have any tips for dealing with sticky type bars in these? My 'o' sticks badly enough to mess up the spacing.
Clean the segment with a little alcohol or brake cleaner. But under no circumstances should you oil it.
@@badulai4329 Ok I'll try alcohol and shooting it with compressed air. Thanks!

Ah gute Idee, bis jetzt hat der Zahnstocher aber seinen Zweck noch erfüllt

Wie baut man die Walze aus?
Habe dieselbe & leider keine Ahnung, wie ich die Walze ab bekomme...

I always admire this model typewriter, but do this model have the most keys on the keyboard then all others model typewriter?
What do you mean? All key are on the keybord and all the funktions are around the typewriter
I mean more writing functions and options than other models typewriters

Die Marschmusik hat mich davon abgehalten, das Video zu Ende zu schauen. Eigentlich schade.
