I was able to attend RehaCare in 2019 and loved it! Was so impressed by the common sense design when it came to accessibility with regards to elevators and door openers (i.e. freestanding posts with buttons, and in the elevators buttons are on the side walls instead of next to the door, making them easier to access as a wheelchair user).

Hi Chelsie, thank you for your inspiring videos - and your polite words about your trip to Germany. I was quite upset, after seeing what you experienced in Germany, because... a) Every German above age 70 in West Germany speaks English! Everyone (ok, in the west)! We have it - after WWII due to the occupation of the British and American Forces - in school since class #5 til #10, some til class #12 or #13. Students nowadays are fluent, as English is a required language (and we watch lots of stuff in English; well, ok, not in the regular TV which is translated unfortunately), BUT even the normal guy or lady in a store under the age of 50 had at least enough years in school to give directions or take an order. Furthermore Düsseldorf is the capital of the federal state, so by nature it is very international - I am so upset that they didn't switched to English... as we have lots of international visitors here b) the German train system (as sometimes the airlines) is stuck somewehre in the last century. There is a handicapped service, but it has to booked in advance (often with very incompetent staff members), so, yeah, you are often on your own. I even had tu sue them once because they didn't wanted me to grant access to first class, bdespite my ticket. A few years ago I was undercover for TV with my wheels and they were shocked. I lived and worked in the north and south, east and west and I can say that the south is somewhere in the 80s (Munich is hell; I learned escalator driving there as they can't manage to fix a broken elevator at the main station in time), the north is trying to get into the 21st century, but still no comparision to other countries. What upsets me is that you had to experience this attitude as a guest in our country, but sadly this is typical for Germany to people with some wheels under their butt (I am 52 and paralysed (L1) since I am 20; I even hold a Ph.D. and am a professor now and still I am sometimes treated like I was stupid... No comparision to countries like the States, or the Emirates or Norway, were you are treated like a person). Despite these negative things you must have experienced - thank you for keeping such a positve attitude! Best regards from Düsseldorf, Germany.

I’m from Germany and I’m so sorry that the most germans don’t speak English very well but I think the most of the younger Generation could help so and bc of the trains there almost every time late 😂

But I also think that a lot of people that could help out are just not confident enough to use their skills...
