I love how it starts out like just another Weird Al food parody, but then it takes the most wonderful right turn halfway through.

I was a big fan of the World of Warcraft video they put together for Hardware Store back in the day. Since there was no official video for the song, it added some nice visual to the whole experience, and was cleverly done.

Why he decided to do that specific thing: "My friends and I, we've cracked the code" hits weirdly in the original song. The line always stood out on the original for me, and when Weird Al's parody landed I was like, "Okay good. Not just me then." I would hypothesize that the entire song started from his comedic spidey sense hearing that line and going "Wait, what?" and then realizing foil hats\aluminum foil overlaid so perfectly that it simply had to be done
I always thought that line was about her and her friends figuring out how to get famous from a poor start. Like, here she is with a hit song and money she could never conceptualize before, but they still see how much cash they have on them and pool it for the night’s fun when they’re headed out because it’s old habit.

I know why he chose to do that specific thing. In Lourde's original song the lyric goes, "By the way we've cracked the code." She's talking about something else entirely that goes with the theme of her song, but Al used that line to pivot the song into a whole different area that could also relate to aluminum foil, like the genius he is.
Nah, Al knows who lorde...and her people really are. When she says they're not impressed with things the regular people are obsessed with, and get a different type of buzz...she's talking about adrenochrome
I am fairly certain, when he decided to do a song title Foil, he look at things people do with foil, came up with food hygiene and conspiracy theories, shrugged and said let's do it. lol.

He is a powerhouse, a living legend, the most successful producer of novelty music in recorded history. Bob, a parody or Homesick Subterranean Blues by Bob Dylan, is a lyrical masterwork. That is my suggestion for your next "reaction".

I love that Patton Oswalt is in this video. It just makes me happy knowing him and Weird Al know each other and are (more than likely) friends.
Also, can we all just take a moment to appreciate how genuinely good-looking Weird Al is when he isn't making goofy faces and has his hair done like in the beginning of this video. Back in the day, he was just a geeky guy in a gaudy shirt and a terrible mustache and then I saw a photo of him, older and with the mustache gone, looking very serious and I was like, "What? How is that the same guy? Wait! Is Weird Al ...... hot?!?!"

Since this song came out every one of his concerts I've been to have had numerous people sporting the foil hats :-D. And as usual, a number of his comedian friends including most obviously Patton Oswalt, but also Reno 911! alums Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, make cameos in the video.

The funniest part of this for me is the fact that aluminum foil is easily the WORST of all of those methods to keep food fresh. Also a cooler is also the worst option too.
