Rutans and the Sontarans should appear in a story together. As long as they stop making the Sontarans a joke.

Have you seen any expanded media stuff with the Rutans facing the sontarns such as the adventure games or the new series books? I recommend them

@@Freezer28528 I know what you meant I was just curious if you knew about them appearing in expanded media since it can be done better than the show itself

Love this story lads I remember going into Virgin Mega Store one Saturday around 1998 or 1999 and buying the VHS and I think it was the week it was released and they had a big poster of the video cover on the window as I walked into the shop very exciting 🎉🎉,I saw the trailer for the season 15 collection but not sure if the Rutan looks better with the new CGI but looking forward to watching it again when it’s released more excited about this than the upcoming season in May.

Fang Rock for me is the Target novelisation, it’s up there with The Abominable Snowmen as my favourite of the 1970s/80s paperbacks. I could have only seen it once, maybe twice if it was repeated, but I must have read the novel a gazillion times. I remember having dived into it so much I actually knew a lot of the prose off by heart. Leela is my favourite companion and she’s brilliant in this adventure, having her in lighthouse keeper man-drag, inspired. I’ve had a passion for lighthouses ever since this serial, one of those Who moments where the physicality of the location completely suits the restrictions of the programme, making its restrictions a huge plus. Tom is beyond The Doctor here, ‘nailing it’ a phrase that could have invented for this miraculous performance. I love it when Baker does scary and commanding, the part of his performance I find most Doctory, he is an incredibly powerful alien. Paddy really has a definite directorial stamp, this and Pyramids, feel somehow similar in their presentation, she’s a serious knowing of the gothic power of storytelling gravitas. I’d say Pyramids and Fang Rock are two of Toms greatest performances. It’s odd he didn’t get on with her. A great review chaps. Gx

Even as a huge RTD fanboy, I thought Church on Ruby Road was pretty rough cobblers. Horror of Fang Rock is much better!

Another great video!!! You asked for video ideas and the two I would want to see is:
The 100 episodes tag - you can save 100 Doctor Who Episodes from the BBC Archives, everything else gets wiped forever, which 100 would you save? so you could save an unearthly child part one but not the rest etc.
A tier list of some of the recurring monsters - daleks, cybermen but then rubbish ones like stenza etc.

Aww i do remember Horror of Fang Rock was my first ever Doctor Who DVD I owned. I got it on my 10th birthday thanks to my Auntie and I didn’t think much to the story back then when I first watched it , but I used to watch on the special features Terrance Dicks fact or fiction documentary over and over again along with the antique doctor who show. Today I have much of a more appreciation to Horror of Fang Rock, brilliant story definitely. It’s a great self contained base under siege story. Of course i just watched it quite recently as part of my marathon and im looking forward to see the new vfx on the season 15 boxset.

I'd love to see you guys do the 100 episode challenge, where you can only save 100 episodes, with individual classic episodes counting as one, so fang Rock would be 4 slots

WOW Matt I could not agree with you more regarding the Ncuti Xmas Special. I've watched this wonderful show since 1963 ( at age 6). I didn't enjoy the Specials as much as you. ( good was great, bad was cringe)
You hit the nail on the head. Ncuti is not MY Doctor YET. To be fair NO Doctor has won me over instantly... Even ..Tom! I am however optimistic. It will only take one good story to win me over. I want o feel like that excited 6 year old again......not the grizzled 66 year old I have become.

The gap between the Christmas special and the new series feels like the gap between The Twin Dilemma and season 22, it felt like a bad first impression.

CORR was a bit pants, but we need to remember it was JUST a Xmas special. They aren’t the same as usual DW series episodes, plenty of time to enjoy the new series when it eventually arrives 🔷

The problem I have with Jon Culshaw as the Brig (and any other character) is that he sounds like Jon Culshaw doing the voice of the Brig (and any other character). They're *all* Culshaws.

When it came to specials last year I had the opposite reaction, I found the 60th specials, not bad, but average and lacking a level of depth. Whereas I love Church on Ruby road, though it needed a couple of re-watches. In regards to Ncuti's take, since he's intended to be the most mentally healthy incarnation we've had in a while, a important thing to consider is that now the flood gates have been opened in regards to the Doctor being more emotional, he'll likely be more comfortable showing affection or crying, which I know isn't something you don't always enjoy, however I do feel it's the next logical step in the Doctor's arc post Time War.

I like seeing this perspective. But I also just loooved Wild Blue Yonder and the first 4/5 or so of The Giggle. But Church on Ruby Road got me so excited for an all new but all exciting new Doctor Who. I love the way he's getting such sensitive and energetic new performance, this practically genderfluid Doctor. It was a ton of fun -- but wacky camp Christmas stuff next to a very unnerving set of scenes where Ruby was eliminated from history briefly. It really worked for me, but pretty much only as a Christmas episode in several scenes. I'm still very excited about what's coming in May.

I’d say I agree with Matt about the show but I fell off after Star Beast honestly 😅
I just don’t think the show feels new and different enough. When someone pointed out to me that if u include the 60th specials with Series 13. It makes a full RTD season. That’s how I see it now. Cause the change felt so flat to me.
However I think Ncuti’s terrific. I’m pretty sold. I’m more worried for the story quality.

I utterly love horror of fang rock, just sublime. Tom despite being in one is on fire and so is louisa. It's a classic. I think RTD based this parting of the ways on this is in that all but the main cast died in parting of the ways as well.
My top 10 classic who's are
    1. Remembrance of the daleks, its awesome and it's no1 due to it being the 1st who I ever saw on TV.
    2. Power of the daleks.
    3. Pyramids of Mars
    4. Horror of fang rock
    5. Sea devil's
    6. Curse of fenric
    7. Death to the daleks
    8. Seeds of death
    9. Robots of death
    10. Claws of axos

The reason that season 15 starts with still has that gothic horror flavouring - the producer might have changed but Robert Holmes was still the script editor for 3 stories.

It's weird how Doctor Who has a few species that are mortal enemies of each other, only to ignore half of the equation. Like the Daleks and the Thals, or the Sontarans and Rutans.
