Yes this is not a Boeing issue but more of a maintenance issue but the general public who don’t know the ins and outs of aviation will just assume it’s a Boeing issue once again!!
I often watch plane crash reenactments. and I noticed that some reasons when it is impossible to land are the BANAL failure of the landing gear descent automation. The plane is forced to make several circles around the airport. Of course, there are various reasons for the difficult landing of the liner. This is fog, strong wind, obstacle on the runway, etc.
The gears on these planes can also be "dropped out" by mere gravity alone. Apparently though that didn't work either, so something must have become totally stuck. And a manual crank wouldn't have helped either.
@@Matchesr2d2 Exactly the gear was already down. There was no reason to manually deploy it. But it does make me wonder why there is no redundant secondary device that can come down to help lock the gear in place. It shouldn't be that difficult to design. It just should not be possible for the gear to collapse like that.
Sidenote: pilots did a great work. Nose was up as long as possible during the slowdown, they kept the plane in the middle of the runway. And, as seen, there was no crash: the fuselage did not break apart. The aircraft can be towed, probably. Hats off to the pilots.

That is an emergency landing; NOT A CRASH
I'm no pilot but I feel like a landing doesn't include flames and emergency vehicles. 😹
Hence the *emergency* part in the *emergency landing*.
It may not be an actual "crash", but I bet it still counts as an Alert 3 by FAA standards.

It's definitely not a 767-300F. Nope. No way on earth. Definitely a 747 that had two engines and the upper deck removed.
The plane did not "crash". It landed without the nose gear deploying. The pilate did an excellent job of landing that plane. And it was a 767.
