Sometimes you do not need a very large number of parts, say for specific needs, customized parts, 3D printing is the one to use to avoid the large investment in the tooling such as injection molding which makes these few manufactured parts so expensive. Also, the complicity is free in 3D printing.

Right, that was such a corny close. Maybe it's funny across the pond.

3D printing is one of the mfg processing methods. each method has pros and cons. we need to have balanced sight on the expansion of already existing technology to other boundary industries.

3D printing revolution has been on its way for decades. No doubt it will keep growing but its still way off being cost effective compared to traditional high volume manufacturing. This guys job like most the promoters ie owners, is to sell the story. For sure 3D printing can bring the cost down to high value items but there are literally 100's if not 1000's of these companies manufacturing some form of 3D printers. Just have a look at the listed 3D printing companies near all are losing money! its a very specialized field with high entry costs to buy and maintain.

What's really funny is they are talking about FDM printing. Lol, the future may be printing but its sure not going to be FDM.
