I have one and see no problem either. Some things have worn out and replaced, but all cars do that. Not everyone can appreciate class. That is something you are born with. Some people like this guy prefer to fit in with everyone else. He took all the character out of the car and gave it a sex change.
My moms PT was pretty great, I never did get the style and this guy made it worse. but it was practical, comfortable and the stick shift made it not sporty but kind of fun to drive.
I think the PT Cruiser was designed to kinda resemble cars from say the 1940's or 1930's, (Y'know, how the fenders stick out some, the engine compartment narrows, ect.) you made it look like a goofy van and made it not resemble the older vehicles. Good job modernizing it.

Those curves are the entire point of the car. It's a callback to the round-fendered cars of the 1930's and 40's. This is akin to "modernizing" the classic aircooled VW beetle by turning it into a boxy minivan. So yeah, nice minivan but you totally lost the plot there.

Very popular cars. Owners loved the. Mechanics were not mega fans. The hood, engine bay, and work spaces in the front end were very tight. Made a lot of common repairs very tedious. Now a days I have the same issues with Jeeps and Nissan Titans. So much crammed in small spaces.
Me too. I just got mine a year ago 2009. Had a bit of work done. Motor mounts needed replacing and the passenger side still needs done. Had to be realigned. I also had to replace the computer with a refurbished one. Needed cosmetic work. But the paint was chipping so I settled for an Emerald City Green with orange brown trim and a few dragon's on it. I am sanding it now and hope to finish it up this week. So much rain here in Tx. I am calling it The Dragon Wagon. You can see the progress of it next week on my channel if you like. Look for She thought she could, so she did, Automotive edition. I am also redoing my childhood home under the She thought series. This is one of the most interesting cars ever and I think a paint job with the candy colors would be great. I am thinking blue metallic with wolves. Maybe a truck even. At 61 I never drove before, but always wanted one of these cars. My son helped me get it. I am moving to a small town, I live in San Antonio Tx. at present and moving 60 mile South of St. Louis in Missouri to my childhood home. I got it at a tax auction and cost as much as the cruiser up front, before fix up. $2,300. It needs fixed up too. Being an artist I see both as an empty canvas. The new series should be up starting next week for redoing projects. I have to build cabnets for kitchen and island, then the master bath I have designed and have to build a shower. I have never done this stuff, but I am watching videos and have some help.

I love your channel. It's not hard to see why it's growing so fast. If I may, I have some mild criticisms. I think you missed the point on this one. The idea isn't to modernize a '90s caricature of a '50s vehicle. That made it look like a bland appliance. Instead, give a 2019 impression of a '50s car. Now that would be fun. Also, I think sometimes you place too much emphasis on line continuity. A certain amount of discontinuity adds character. Anyway, keep up the great work.
I owned a 05 and loved the car. It was a great every day car. But I like cars that are not the norm, that stand out by breaking the trend. The PT Cruiser (had one), the Prowler, the Buick Rendezvous (had one), the KIA Soul, the Chevy HHR and SSR, the Nissan Cube and Juke, the Honda Element, the Ford Flex (my current car, I've had 2 of them now)...you get the idea. No cookie cutter, cracker box design with multi-millions per year production rate like the Cruz, the Grand Am, etc. I like the unique. I just wish that I was a millionaire who could go around saving all the "mainstream attitude ugly cars" and creating a museum for them as they have rightfully earned their place in history, too and had a lot of appreciative owners of them. We see value and qualities that no one else does. What's special about a 57 Chevy when everyone loves them and millions were produced. Now grab youself a VW THING and you have an entirely different perspective and yet, the job it was asked to do, it did and offered novelty and character while doing it.
You've made it really nice looking, so it isnt so distictive anymore, i think the PT cruiser is meant to be weird and unique. So i have a challenge for you Sketch Monkey: Why not Modernize the Bugatti EB110 and keep the weirdness, but just make it more modern?

Sadly my problem was that Chrysler reliability. In my opinion the Toyota C-HR is like the PT Cruiser of today. It is a different looking crossover with a bold design but this time it is backed up with that Toyota reliability. Keep up the great work. I usually like your redesigns, but I really hate this one. The whole point of the PT cruiser was the retro design. And you've removed that. Now it's just looks like a knock-off Volvo XC60. But you didn't do anything about the design elements that ACTUALLY made the car look awkward, like the flat and featureless rear end with the absolutely tiny rear window. Also, what's with the hate for 90's design? That seems to be a constantly recurring element in your videos.
This was great!You did a really good job with that sketch and it actually looks like a pretty cooler car that fits our time. Sadly, you forgot one detail: Chrystler updated its logo in 2009, so you needed to replace that outdated one with the current one in order for it to actually fit the modern style.
The PT was perfectly utilitarian, but it also had some major problems with plastic parts in the shifting mechanism, which when it broke had to be replaced or your car couldn't move. We bought one some years ago for about 12 grand brand new, but it was a minimalist design with no air conditioning. We eventually had to have a new engine installed then gave it to our college bound nephew to use until it fell apart.
This is one of your best redesigns. Keep it up. You might have just inspired Chrysler to build this, since SUV's are popular now. This means you might get a call from them.
Not gonna lie. I would buy it, it's pretty neat looking and would definitely stand out in a parking lot today. Try redesigning the front of the car with a red car, pt cruisers look best in red or orange imo. Great work!

Life's a trip. I lived in that car for two years studying art, grammar, and creative writing. Two years of cops, dick head property managers, skyrocketing gas prices, over heating radiators, hot weather, two broken cooling fans, busted water pump, no powerstearing, cold nights and having to shower in filthy stinking public showers taught this marker head a great deal. (I don't know where I was going with that) Thanks for the vid Mr. Sketch.

My dad has a PT Cruiser, it’s actually a pretty good car! Over 300k miles on it and it still is like new! 😊
Mine has 96,000! I got it at 66,000!
Mines still going strong at 180,000 miles!

Life's a trip. I lived in that car for two years studying art, grammar, and creative writing. Two years of cops, dick head property managers, skyrocketing gas prices, over heating radiators, hot weather, two broken cooling fans, busted water pump, no powerstearing, cold nights and having to shower in filthy stinking public showers taught this marker head a great deal.
