It was a fun to see :) Maybe a game designer knows something about coffee - but not about roguelikes :P 1) Difficulty and variation. You have no reason to unlock more difficult recipes or use several recipes at one day. So the game should force you to select them, or even buy and use automatically. 2) Choices. Good game force you to make choice between items: one can be better for the current build, another can have some strong buffs and debuffs... We need more stats for furniture! 3) Random. To replayability, we need an element of chaos. Dice, card draw, energy values... Imagine if client order drop with double ice, or double espresso. Unfortunately, now it's just a funny concept, not a working game.
Hard to disagree, I played one run and my thoughts are similar. Gameplay is great but it gets boring pretty quickly as all days are too similar to each other. I hope it will get better in the full release but right now there are not enough roguelike features which would make every run unique.
I think they could add a couple features 1. Extra items, there could be a chance that the customer wants something like caramel or milk, maybe both 2. Randomized floor shape or size, within a degree to keep the game fun and your not just getting unplayable shapes or sizes
@@Fairon201 Yeah the demo is very basic, although imo its worth keeping in mind that its not a demo of a finished game. I imagine in the full game when you have several recipes and more customers it will be more challenging too (demo is kinda way too easy ngl). Im interested in the random events they mentioned, they seem to be aware that variation is needed and apparently some of it is already in the full game. So I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt personally, at least until I can see for myself what the full game is like
@@Thysillia Well said, nice to hear that they are aware of some of the issues. I will also wait for the full release and hope for the best (especially that I have way too many hours in PlateUp lol)

Hey man! Thanks so much for your videos - I just subscribed b/c I realized from your videos I've downloaded and tried four games. Really appreciate your work!
I swear 90% of coffee is consumed for the caffeine alone. See I'm a freak that loves bitter things. I'll mess up a cup of double strength Earl Grey any time. If you ever want to give coffee another shot, light roasts have a lot more fruity and bright flavors. Dark roasts taste like bitter and burning (my fav). Light roast coffee goes nuts with the caffeine though, so watch out for that. Of course, I know I'm over here saying "hey if you ever want to drop a bunch of money on equipment you'll never use for something you dislike." Enjoy this nice comment, algorithm!

It seems like an underwhelming version of Plate up for now, but maybe it can get better. I wonder if having "freshness" on the food / drinks can be a nice thing in those kind of game. I thought, when you gave that "fresh espresso" you brew 2 hours ago to that client that I wouldn't want of that espresso. :P Filter coffee sitting on the burner for 2 hours wouldn't be very interesting either. Maybe that could add some interesting stress... or maybe that would ruin the pacing and be just annoying. Definitely, you'd have to be able to make more than one order at the time to have to optimize your movements around the kitchen while having to remind all the things you have to do. Maybe having a prep phase with croissant and sandwiches to prepare, then after a time, the shop opens. Maybe with inventory management: adapting your recipes with what you have in stock to optimize profits. I don't know. It's interesting, but too barebone for now.
the thing about coffee is that your supposed to add sugar and creamer to your liking, if you dont like it bitter, then try adding something to make it sweeter. I enjoy my coffee very sweet so i add about 10 small packets of sugar and some creamer
There are also different blends of coffee and different preparation methods that aren't as bitter. Most of us are used to the same overextracted drip crap that you get in a Tim Hortons or Baskin Robbins. There's a lot more to coffee than that.
Yeah, coffee is just crushed bean juice. However coffee should be awful but not too awful. I do prefer tea though. Or at least I can make a better tea than coffee. But coffee shops make better coffee than me.
What’s not a permadeath dungeon about this game? If I lose I’m sent back to the beginning and I’m progressing through a dungeon (map of location my food truck is at)
Coffee only causes stomach upset because it is of poor quality and along with the coffee powder, companies roast all kinds of things like sticks, insects and rats. This does not cause illness because the coffee powder is roasted and then placed in boiling water, but the taste is horrible. I was born on a coffee farm and when I moved and had to buy coffee I couldn't even drink it.
