Like someone said in another comment, this is like a throwback to 2008/9 watching your dad shift the other '65. Nice shifting and a nice sounding Detroit!
I have waited a looooooong time to see this. A never could find it and then stumble across it today. This is a dream set. Twin stick Detroit. Ain’t nothing like it in the world. If you take that 8V-71 and put a set of Low Compression pistons, M-95 or M-105 injectors, Garret TV71 turbo @ 1.23 hit side and .95 cold side, with a charge air cooler and u hector timing set for 1.484-1.560 that old Detroit will smoke a 500 Cat EVERY TIME someone once said you could put the 92 injectors in a 71. I’ve never seen it before but if you could…..then the 9225 or 92140 will make well over 650 HP. Have fun !!!
The boy knows what he is doing. I would 5 times rather drive that old freightliner than a new one. No computers no Def basically no bull shit just get in it and drive and have fun doing it
Just found this video! Back in 1971I used to drive a 1968 Pete C/O cross country hauling produce. She had an 8V71, twin stacks, with 4x4 "married" boxes. Geared for 105+ for getting across those miles, and miles of Texas. Those were the golden years my friend.
That is some smooth shifting there! That truck doesn’t need straight pipes. I think it’s at the perfect level of noise, not blowing your ears out, but you can still hear it good.
It actually had a 5" straight pipe on it for around a year I think. The neighbors weren't very happy. Its fun as a toy but when you gotta work it all the time it gets old super quick
Ese sonido del motor detroit me iso viajar al pasado cuando andava con mi padre en un FREIGHTLINER viejos tiempos bellos recuerdos buenas anecdotas un saludo a mi padre hasta el cielo y gracias por compartir tus experiencias
Basically that's your truck with 1 less gear in the aux and a screamin Jimmy in the doghouse Minus the beard I swear I'm watching your dad driving back in your early videos, smooth shifting and everything
@@TwinStickFilms coffin bunk? Maybe something you can put on the back of your 65 if you can find one Strange to see you shifting so smoothly; every driver I know says to slam your hand in the door and give them old Detroit's the full skinny pedal in every gear 😂
@@LRCVWDude oh when I get it in gear the skinny pedal is hitting the floor board until the governor tells me to shift! Gotta stay ahead of the power band in these! Haha
The truck overalls top speed is about an estimate of 65 because of the axle ratio. Loaded... probably about the same but it will take awhile to get there

Times flies! I watched some of my older videos just the other day, seems like it was just yesterday.

@@TwinStickFilms Ah. I got neighbors who also hate me over loud machines.
Agree fully, just the right amount of sound without totally deafening you.
Damn, you've really come a long way the past ten or so years I've watched you. Keep on keepin' on, brudder!
Very smooth..a truck DRIVER not a kid driving a truck

You literally drove 1/8th mile from my place!! Im right behind the gas station, too bad im in California working !! KILLER VIDEOS thanks!
Would love to see more of this truck. Can't stop watching this video. Lol
Maybe in the Spring when I get more fertilizer with it.
A screaming 318 backed by a triplex... it just doesn't get any better.
two sticks and a jimmy is one of my favorite combos!
Drove lots of 318s never 2 sticks. boy that's sweet! Kids good!
Nice driving I sure do miss twin sticks

Pretty much, this also has a sleeper which is nice for throwing stuff in the back. Watching him over the years paid off!

I learned to drive in a 71 W9 with the same 8v71 and 5x3.
the definiton of cool (IMO) let's see some more!
Maybe during the summer when its hauling seed during harvest!
Sweet, nice job 👍
Like #115. Super mint shifting and sound there Bud.
Delights me greatly
Sounds awesome even with muffler(s).

Wow she’s got jakes too, nice!
I have like 30 minutes of footage with enough jake brake action. Maybe ill throw that on here one day
@@TwinStickFilms please do.
Wish I had a Detroit
How anyone works out which stick to shift on a Spicer gearbox is beyond me.
You have to go to collage to learn the shift pattern on a Spicer.
If your dumb like me a 13 or 18 speed road ranger is easier.
Hell yeah man!!
Damm your good
One badd mother
Hey! What gearbox is in this truck? Can I find somewhere gear position diagram?
I can get a picture soon. Its a 5 speed direct with 3 speed brownie
Sorry for the late reply, I'll try and recreate this over text.

What rear end ratio is in the truck?
5.29 I believe
@@TwinStickFilms wow
Do you still have your Bronco II?
I sold that 10 years ago
@@TwinStickFilms you sold it in 2011, why?

@@TwinStickFilms what's the rear end ratio?
8v71s there's no point in putting straight pipes on it cause Detroits are loud any ways
Plus I like the idea of being able to keep my hearing
I know right
It's not. Like it's a cat or a big cam Cummins lol
