I respectfully disagree. After hearing the original Lilly, Rebecca Luker, sing this song, it is very difficult to listen to this affected and labored version.
@@edmulterer5984 Agreed...Laura has her strengths, but accents are not among them, it's very obvious she's trying way too hard with that here. And that's just one thing to notice. I also tend to prefer a more rounded and delicate, but still full bodied voice in this role. Laura's more nasal soprano just...doesn't work here, and proves my point that not all soprano roles are the same, even though somehow people think otherwise and sometimes cast a soprano in these roles just because they're a soprano. I'd never cast the same kind of soprano for say...Glinda as I would a Christine. Steven though...is fitting this role PERFECTLY, and really makes me want that talked-about Broadway revival because he'd slay this role into the ground.
This is beautiful. Usually not a fan of Laura, but this is really her style. Steven Pasquale is one of my absolute favorite actors. Very moving performance.
+BlinkinFirefly omg i agree so much. But I kinda love it. It's otherwise a very bland show the music is so good. I like that they're bringing a little passion to the stage.
they fell in love doing rehearsals for this one night benefit( i was in the front row). They married soon after but divorced, and both found wonderful spouses. I guess they were both too beautiful to be with each other! lol
I Love this musical, espessially with Stephen Pasquale and Will Chase. But, does anyone have any other versions of the whole play? I'm playing "Archie" and need guidance. Thanks.
I love the staging and the acting to bits! I just wish that they didnt kiss. I think it is much more fitting had they just lingered an inch from one another. Apart from that they stage directions are perfect!
[LILY] How could I know I would have to leave you? How could I know I would hurt you so? You were the one I was born to love! Oh, how could I ever know? How could I ever know? How can I say to go on without me? How, when I know you still need me so? How can I say not to dream about me? How could I ever know? How could I ever know? Forgive me Can you forgive me And hold me in your heart And find some new way to love me Now that we're apart? How could I know I would never hold you? Never again in this world, but oh Sure as you breathe, I am there inside you How could I ever know? How could I ever know? [ARCHIBALD] How can I hope to go on without you? How can I know where you'd have me go? How can I bear not to dream about you? Oh, how can I let you go? [LILY] How could I ever know? [ARCHIBALD] All I need... [LILY] Is there in the garden! All I would ask... [LILY and ARCHIBALD] Is care for the child of our love! [LILY] Come, go with me, safe I will keep you [ARCHIBALD] Where you would lead me There I would [LILY] There I would, there we would [ARCHIBALD and LILY] There we will go Oh! How could I know? Tell me how could I know? Never to know you would ever leave me! How could we know? [ARCHIBALD] How could I ever know?
Does anyone know if there’s a full recording of this anywhere? I’m so in love with Steven’s rendition of “Race You to the Top of the Morning”, but can’t find it anymore!
Arctophile2000 this is a “peaceful haunting” (as put by the director in my production, I was Colin) She is already dead but telling him she loves him and not to lose hope, careful attention to the script and it shows the slightest inkling of Archibald maybe killing himself.
Laura's voice is flawless! This song sounds made for her💕
She's stunning! Such an inspiration to me as a singer!

Once you have Rebecca Luker in your heart, you cant really live without her version.
I totally get it...right from the first time I heard it. But, Sierra Boggess sure is good. ruclips.net/video/S3eRKz1jsJg/видео.html
I had no idea these two did Secret Garden together!! This just made my afternoon 🥰💖
I can not WAIT for him to be on Broadway....he is such a star.
Beautiful. He's too handsome to play Uncle Archie though!
I really like this song, but I meed an opinion. Vote: Should I sing this for my recital or I will take other suggestions.
Do it. It's a great audition piece as well. would love to know what you think of my performance on my channel as well :)
WOW! this was a very SENSUAL version...kinda hot but....I think it may be straying from the plot a bit. Wonderful voices! dayyyyummmm

I was thinking the same thing -- I didn't recall the characters kissing in the original staging
laura benantis INCREDIBLE! im sooo glad she finally got a tony!
they shouldve done a cast recording just for the hell of it, and the fact that they were all so amazing
Magic. And they get to wake up with each other every morning.
He is so epic and talented
Sean Garrity on stage....gotta love it
tears and tears :'(
laura seriously has the most beautiful voice!
He needs to be on Broadway to win his Tony now. I adore him. =)
That doesn't surprise me. Their chemistry here is unbelievable. You can tell how into it they are.
They are both so amazing
aren't Stephen and Laura married? so cute! they both have such beautiful voices!

They're married in real life! love it!
Does anyone know if there’s a full recording of this anywhere? I’m so in love with Steven’s rendition of “Race You to the Top of the Morning”, but can’t find it anymore!
Although this sounds really good, I think Ramin and Sierra do this sounds better ( my opinion)
perfect!
They actually met doing this concert ;)
Is there Act I anywhere?
Was this how they met?
