How horrific! Tragic doesn't cover it. island idyllists thrown together with such deadly consequences. The portrayal of Campell feels incomplete: the documentary fails to get to the bottom of why he has retreated to an island existence....to collect monkeys doesn't seem sufficient. Pre-island Monkey Jack is the gaping hole in this narrative of his motivations and murderous actions.
It was an idyllic life. We lived on very little, grew our own food and the croft was a throwback. The only problem I found was that the rat race followed us. The islands have their own rat race and rural life is not all it seems. BUT, I think it is possible to create that serene space once you learn to distance yourself from this human need for validation and it is what I plan to do in rural Oregon, complete with a recreated Scottish manse on a few acres. You can do this anywhere as long as you are in the right mindspace.@@Matilda-y
Scottish law is that people must be released from prison if they have less than 3 months to live, so that might have been the reason for his release. Dying from cancer after snaring her by claiming to be dying from cancer is a touch of karma.
What I want to know is, who was showing the compromising photos of Margaret to.all the guys in the pub, because that was a nasty thing to do. Also, I am so glad that Margaret got her children away from that island. If she had stayed there, Campbell might have unalived her, and then what would have happened to her children? She did the right thing getting them away from there.
This was like watching an episode of Last of the Summer Wine. How can the narrator describe Campbell's rival Bob Rose as a "younger man, muscular, full of energy & handsome"? Just Google him he looked like a bumpkin alcoholic and at least ten years older than his 51 years of age. No wonder he got so easily beaten up by two not muscular spectacle-wearing drunks.
Interesting story.Lovely scenery.
"He wouldn't look out of place in a cage himself "pfhahahaha 😅😂
"He collected...monkeys"😮 I absolutely love Wansall!😊
Thank you

When did all this happen?I thought in "olden times" till I heard Bill txtd Margaret 😮
I used to live there. Had a 2 acre croft. Never heard of these guys but they must have arrived later.
That sounds wonderful. Im so jealous . I’d love to go there.

Wonderful Narrator though
That is sarcasm I take it 😂
Oh! I DO love Geoffrey Wansell!
Presented well
The woman Margaret should have packed her bags and left immediately. Dont love the man then GET OUT dont drag on the misery.
So bizarre🤦
Jack Campbell died Feb 2024, of cancer two months after being released from prison.

I thought having monkeys in a cage was illegal. Not anyone can go out and start to collect wildlife.
Never trust secretive people
Jack Campbell is dead now apparently.

An actor perhaps?
My Mam grew up in Orkney .
Who's the monkeys uncle 😅

How can an Englishman not know how to pronounce Glasgow? 🤦
He’s English not Scottish.
@@melcrossley2843that's what I said.
Surely every Englishman has heard the word Glasgow pronounced correctly?
@@monty3854 can Scott’s pronounce all our city’s 😂 he said Edinburgh ok 😂
@@melcrossley2843 I think you mean Scots? But yes, there's no English city that anyone would mispronounce.
