I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (March 5, Lent 1), this was our Gospel of the Day. As I just stated, we are now in the 40 days of Lent. It represents this Gospel. From a high (Baptism by John the Baptist) to a low seen here. Jesus is own his way to the Cross. May we have the courage to walk with him all the way there and not cut and run or deny him.
