Nadi Town

  • Nadi Town is the gateway to Fiji. Nadi International Airport, the main airport in Fiji, is a short drive away. Until the emergence of a shopping and dining complex at Denarau in the early 2000s, tourists would either shop and eat at their hotels in Denarau, Fiji's main tourist hub, or go into Nadi Town. Tourists still go into Nadi but since the pandemic, their numbers have whittled away. Since the borders formally opened up on 1st December, they're coming back in a trickle but nowhere near their pre-pandemic levels. Still, it's a lively place and despite the setbacks of the lingering pandemic, it carries on apace. "O Nadi Ko!", as they say!

@@ThePaleBlueDot the Omicron variant is ramping up fast here in Newcastle and Sydney but strangely its not putting people in hospital as much as the last variant, some people dont even know they have it with no symptoms. Looks like we all have to go back for booster shots. Last time i was in Nadi near 4 years ago i purchased some trinkets in that Jacks shop and got given my stuff in a plastic bag that had jacks logo and "biodegradable bag" written on it. That bag hung in my daughters room for years and did not change, i thought jacks had been ripped off concerning the biodegradeability claim but recently i went into her room and stuff was everywhere on the floor with shards of weird crumbly unrecognisable components. The Jacks bag had completely disintegrated! So good on them for doing something for the environment.

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent.

@@ThePaleBlueDot Go back and view your vlog again. No problem asking about thalis (even though there is a menu right in front of you that does not show thalis) You crossed the line when you shrugged off the response from the friendly and courteous staff that a thali is with roti, rice and curries and quickly responded " yeah I can do it in a couple of minutes" and laughed it off. You call that respect. By the way you published a vlog on a public site that allows for comments. Obviously, you are not interested in any constructive comments. Actually I enjoy you vlogs but I was saddened at your response in this case. Street food could be anything and if a shopkeeper wants what is more profitable and quick to serve they will do what's best for them. Anyways, all the best to you and happy new year.

@@benny8802 Do you mean go back and view the vlog of an Indian street food shop that you identified as a sweet shop? You’ve obviously gone back to have a good hard look at it again and made detailed notes. All I did is ask if she sold thalis. Thalis are a staple of Indian street food. I was polite with them and there was genial banter. It’s not in my nature to be rude or tolerate rudeness in any shape or form. I’m totally in favour of constructive comments but when someone makes a mountain out of a molehill and sees an issue where there was none to begin with then it cannot go unchallenged. A few months ago, as I was going to be in Suva (which you may or may not know is the capital of Fiji) for a while, I thought I would count the number of people who came up to me in relation to my vlogs and record it in a notebook. In more than two months, 277 people greeted me in various venues and were overflowing with their praise. There was not a single neutral or negative comment. 277! 277 is a staggering number for a small country with no partnership agreement with RUclips. So, you see, haters like you are in a very tiny, barely visible, minority. You're just a drop in the ocean.
