      What Scott got right with his scares on FNAF 4 and Sister Location was forcing the player to listen closely in order to survive, which means of the jumpscare does hit, it hits while they're paying full attention to their surroundings

      @@ChrisHinners008 you need to catch a fish because this red monstrous 8bit demon doesn’t have enough polygons for fingers, and his only source of consumables is indeed 8bit fish because it can fit in his mouth somehow. So you need to use the scheme on your keyboard to help the red 8bit demon catch the consumable so that he doesn’t pass from the starvation, and the lack of foods.
      If you do not succeed in the process of this hefty work, you will not be able to use the Fazbear branded surveillance cameras mounted around the facility. Nor the Fazbear branded surveillance monitor. So chances of survival will be slim for a uncertain amount of duration, but you are still able to use the Fazbear branded security doors, or the fazbear branded vent seals, or the fazbear branded decapitated freddy fazbear head which was originally used as a act of defence against the animatronics by the security guards in 1983. You can still use the fazbear branded security handheld flash light/torch. As it’s also known as a torch outside of South America. Which is logical considering it’s not even a part of the tablet, but it is unknown why it still causes power to be consumed from the building power.

    • @EpicJosh84
      @EpicJosh84 2 года назад +3838

      I wouldn't say it's jumpscare quality, per se, as much as its execution. After all, Foxy's jumpscare in FNaF1 is the mildest thing ever, barring the noise used. Sound is an important aspect of gameplay. Not to mention, what works in a prerendered, atmosphere-focused environment isn't going to track when you're dealing with an overwhelming drug trip like UCN or a 3D environment like Help Wanted.

    • @comorbiddisorder
      @comorbiddisorder 2 года назад +1153

      @@EpicJosh84 I think the biggest part is a combination of a build up of tension, the sound design, the lack of strategy and the anticipation.
      Once you get jumpscared once, you already know what to expect, but the tension caused over time by simply trying to survive combined with the fact that for FNaF 1 and 6 there isn't an "optimal strategy" like there is for the rest of the games causes the anticipation of the jumpscares to fade away, because you no longer anticipate it as you're more focused on surviving.
      Not to mention, when the power goes down, the timing of Freddy's jumpscare is never the same, he can wait until it's almost 6AM or jumpscare you immediately, even his song doesn't always play entirely.
      The randomness of FNaF 1 made the expected turn into the unexpected, you never knew if you'd make it or you'd fuck up and get killed.
      That's not even mentioning that Security Breach has the worst atmosphere and jumpscare sound of them all.
      In FNaF one the jumpscare sound made sense, it was the sound of a child screaming and the animatronics have the corpses of children stuffed inside of them.
      In FNaF Security Breach the sound that plays when an animatronic grabs you is the same sound that plays when the Security Guard grabs you, and she doesn't even open her mouth so where would the sound even come from?

    • @TricBrosStudios
      @TricBrosStudios 2 года назад +156

      @@Ladisepic I don’t wanna start an argument or anything, but from a mostly factual standpoint, the animatronics are too human-like to be scary and the jumpscare sound is weaker than the OG’s. The movement and personalities are that of a person. Just looking at how Freddy jumps in the opening cutscene, I believe it more to be a person in a suit rather than a robot. And not in the Glitchtrap sort of way where he has creepy movement. The animatronics suddenly became less animatronic. And it’s also the color. Even though the Toy animatronics were almost as colorful as these, they had some darker colors and had other features that made them scary like Bonnie’s eyes or Chica’s lack of a beak or Mangle’s whole clown-like persona. And not even that, but the whole mall is lit up with colors unlike the grimy, broken, and industrial look of all the other locations. Nothing about this game other than possibly Vanny screams “scary” to me but rather just an enemy to you as the player. I also think the lack of suddenness to the jumpscare allows you to anticipate it before it happens, which has a lot to do with the open-map gameplay. FNaF was never supposed to be free roam, or more accurately have the animatronics run at you before the scream. This game just lost it’s frightening touch that all of the previous games had nailed down.

    Funtime Freddy’s is my favorite FNAF jumpscare, and that electrical room section in general is my favorite in all of the FNAF games.
    The fact that the game forces you to listen REALLY close to hear if he’s coming closer, which is the most nervewracking thing ever.
    The fact that you have to load each electrical system painfully slowly with a piercing beeping that blocks out the sound of the room.
    The fact that you are in almost total darkness and have no control over where the faint light is flashing in the room.
    The fact that Freddy is moving through the room effortlessly and with almost no sounds, like he’s teleporting between them, and strikes the most menacingly fake-friendly poses you ever see in the series.
    The fact that the mechanic you have to use to send him back has no clear indication of whether it’s actually working or not, creating even more stress when your brain fills in the gaps and still can’t make out what exactly is happening when you hit that button.
    The fact that he keeps making little quips and jokes, Kevin Goff’s psychotic voice emanating from his horrible grin as he talks about birthdays and fun as he approaches like a predator.
    And finally, the jumpscare itself, which has an entirely unique jumpscare sound, a metallic roar more than a scream, like an actual bear is leaping for it’s prey. The way Freddy moves into frame as his literal face opens to reveal his horrifying insides, the jerkiness of his head, his thousand yard stare directly into your soul… exquisite.
    No wonder Mark physically flung himself back, it’s like he was shot with a bullet. Genuine fright from him there, and from me the first time I played this game.
    Scott was so good at his craft when FNAF was in it’s prime. Steel Wool had good intentions, but let’s be real, they butchered the formula and the series never recovered.

    I find it funny that Foxy was the first to get him in FNAF1. He's arguably the least scary in that one given that his jumpscare is a good distance from the screen, and you can catch him running on the monitor.
