Great video, but a pro tip if you hate all the hassle just buy the Asus Rog Ally official Dock charger. It has 1 HDMI, 1 USB-C and 1 USB-A. I use it everyday for playing on my 65"TV or 27" monitor with a XBOX controller. Works like a charm! But yes all my cables and extra things I have purchased UGREEN, they have a 90 degree bent USB-C to USB-C cable and it takes away the pressure on the charging port, great cables!
I did try that one and did a review on it. It’s not too bad but limited in ports and features and resolutions it supports. Also having the hdmi plugged in the wall is slightly a down side for some peoples setups
I’m late to the party I think though you and WinDeckTech have me thinking about the ugreen dock, especially for the Ally X. Great video! Hope everyone was able to take advantage of some of these deals.
UGREEN is a good product. but they still do not have a 100w dedicated port, the highest wattage if all ports are used is 65w. which means you cannot use all the ports if you will use 1 for dock.
That’s not true. Dm me I’ll prove it to you.. the ones I shared have a 100w or higher dedicated port. If you are filling up ports on ANY charger with multiple outputs, of course it has to split the power. So if the charger said its a 100w charger, that doesnt mean 100w on every port, that would mean it would be a 400w if it had 100w on every port. thats among ALL chargers. But even the ugreen battery bank has a dedicated 140w output. check out the amazon product pages if you scroll down for a break down of the ports but most of them all can do 100w on a single port no problems. but of course 100w charger doesnt mean 100w on every port then it would be a 400w charger. total output is total output for the whole device. but if your only using one port of course youll get the total output on the first port.
Hey dude. Could do with talking to you about a mod I've done to the ally. I've successfully made a 64wh battery that fits in the ally and the weight is good too. How else can we talk so I can share this with you? 👍🏻
I did a video on the batter mod here Rog Ally 3+ Hour Battery Mod? The Ultimate Battery Options - 3hrs+ aaa titles @ 25w #rogally ruclips.net/video/E4NIQ-EPc5s/видео.html I also have seen a few other mods but the one I don’t like is the one where you have to fold the battery in half. Gamers nexus covered that one also he showed some of my mods as well in an older episode. I also didn’t care for the battery mod because of the added weight and size and I also think the ugreen bank is longer lasting and safer overall and newbie friendly. If you have a different mod that I have not seen feel free to hmu on discord
@@cppctek I don't know what the discord is? I'm not very social media friendly. Just a tinkerer. You won't have seen this mod! I've sourced 3800mah lipo cells that fit perfectly in place of the old ones just longer, and to make them work I've used a separate BMS or PCB whatever you want to call it that fits in snug too. Obviously the weight has increased but not by much. Probably same as the new ally x around 700
@ksrnate discord is an app and you really should try it out. It’s free. I’ve got a discord server full of modders like us where you can share pics and info with and it’s like life changing and posting it’s great. It’s also more private than any where else. discord.gg/6pKwFqNA55
@@cppctek I don't know what to do with that discord mate 🤣 anyway upon testing this battery it's actually 67wh not 63 which is even better. Shame I can't just attach images to this message 🙄

For 184$ ? Wow. No I wouldn’t buy that at all. Really bad value if that’s the price. Many other brands offer the same set of features for far less money. I’m partial to ugreen because that’s what I use but also consider Jsaux, they also make great socks and I’ve got several.
It’s not a full size display port it’s usb c that support display over usb c. So if you have a tv or a gaming monitor 99% of them still don’t have usb c input for display. So you still need a dock to get the display to the tv. It support display port technology but over the usb c port. It’s weird but if you have one in your hands you’ll quickly realize why you need a dock for a tv or a monitor. Oh and also there’s no usb a ports on the ally…
@@cppctek Why would I need USB-A ports on the Ally? Remember I'm asking "need", not "it's nice to have it". There are also USB-C to Display Port cables and adapters, many of them very high quality that will give me optimal transfer speed, so I can connect it to my gaming monitor. Nothing's fast enough to accept USB 4 at this point anyways. Display Port 1.4 is going to bottleneck it.
@jsullivan2112 most of the usb c to display port adapters don’t historically have high refresh support. Tons of people use usb a to connect controllers and wireless keyboard and mice. Jump on Reddit and look at people’s setups. Masssssive amount of people dock this to a tv and sit on the couch and game. In doing so you need a dock… think about it. Do you wanna hold a handheld with cables attached all the way across your living room floor ? It doesn’t make sense.
Also the ally x having thunderbolt 4 you can use specific thunderbolt docks and get 240hz support and no your not limited on bandwidth for displays. Maybe for egpus your slightly limited in bandwidth but there’s no issues running docks. I believe there’s up to 40gbps
@@cppctek I'm pretty sure that's incorrect, but I'll need to dig some more. In fact I've seen the opposite where some docks out there have their own GPU and create a bottleneck vs. just using an adapter/cable that gives you full bandwidth. The plus side is that those docks give you multiple displays, but again that's a nice to have. As for living room set up, there are so many different ways to configure things that becomes moot. Why do I need to hold a handheld when there's this thing called a desk or entertainment unit to lay it on? Do people hold their consoles? So I don't NEED a dock. Thanks for clearing that up.
I know I’m getting one ☝🏿 of those plugs 🔌 my boi 😅
Yee they are good. 100% gotta have item when docked.

No most chargers don’t come with them so I would advise getting a 100w or 240w rated cable
