    I'm in Gaylord,MI.
    I have 4 different models.of tactacams.
Bought each one a solar panel and none have failed me yet.
I hung em.with the panels in mi's September and was still at 90% the following archives, just unbelievable.
And we all know tactacam cameras are game cams that are very reasonable priced compared to other set ups.

Yup they are great! I haven't found a better one at that price point and the solar panels are worth every penny

Great video! I'm from Wisconsin and I use these cameras and I'm about to buy 3 solar panels. Thanks for the info!

With the price of lithium's they are worth every penny! Thanks for watching

I have had good luck with tactacam cameras and solar panels here in southeast MN too. I have 2 tactacam cameras with solar panels that have been out year round for over 2 years with no issues and hoping they stay working for a long time.

That's an even better testimony than mine if you've had them out year round and they're still going strong! With the mild start to winter I'll be curious how they handle the negative temps when they inevitably show up. Did you see the battery life go down in frigid temps at all?

The batteries in the solar panels have been at 100% the entire time. I am not sure if I will see a decline at some point or one day they will just not work. I enjoy seeing what the cameras capture besides just the deer intel so I leave them up here on the farm all year.

@troydanielson1257 good to hear. I'm right there with you. I haven't left them up all year just cuz of the cost of batteries but I plan to this year. I love to see how the deer respond to all the habitat work we do

I've also had good luck with my two Tactacam Reveal X Pro in SE Minnesota. I just added solar panels this summer and have NO batteries in the cameras. They've never been below 100% "battery" with just the solar panels. I even put one back in the woods with leaf cover and little light this summer, it still stayed at 100%.

That's very encouraging to hear! I've definitely been impressed so far

Just so you know, they will always show 100% with Tactacams. If you see below 100%, that indicates that you’re now running on your internal battery (if you have backups installed).
I run these on Spypoints and they will show the actual %.

Yah someone else shared that when the video originally dropped. I left the cams out until earlier this month. Batteries were at 70% when I checked them. Never had to change them. Pretty fantastic for cheap Amazon specials. Definitely always buying the solar panels

It should be noted that anytime you are plugged into external power your battery power on the app will read 100%. Basically need to press the button on the solar panel and view the LEDs to get a approximate level of the internal battery. That being said, I am using two. The first one performed so well going 18 months on 15 sec video I added another this year. So far it doesn’t perform nearly as well for some reason? I just charged it the second time in four months. Same settings and similar traffic area although it is on a different model camera.(XB) one difference I have noted is the older panel uses a barrel type charging connector, and the newer one has more like a android flat charging plug. Maybe it has a smaller internal battery or something?

I definitely did not know that, thanks for sharing! That's interesting you're running into some issues now. I'll have to keep an eye on mine. I normally don't run them all year but I may this year just to see how the panels hold up over winter

Increased nocturnal videos is what likely finally drained my original panel.(food plot) I’ll do some experimenting with the one giving me grief but if in the end I only need to recharge every couple months it’s still better than buying batteries and filling landfills. I agree it’s a good product and will be adding more.

@joeblow9568 I definitely agree with that!

So it sounds like the solar panel has its own internal battery? Will it recharge my tactacam rechargeable battery or does the camera just run directly off the solar panel battery when it’s plugged in?

    • @PFHabitat
      @PFHabitat  9 месяцев назад

No the solar panel only power its own battery.

I have one reveal camera and put it out Labor Day weekend here in central mn and it still says 100 percent battery and I’m not running a solar panel

    • @PFHabitat

They are generally pretty good with batteries. Normally lithiums could get me a good 5 months unless I put the cam on a heavy deer traffic area

Does the solar panel recharge the Tactacam lithium battery pack?

  • @rickylloyd2010

When ever u use solar panels on tactacam reveal it always will read 💯.so they can be 10 percent battery life left and u won't have any idea its that low.
