Just bought one of these at my local Walmart for $15. They work amazing!! Also, some notes: The white stuff at the base is a type of cement/glue to keep the base attached to the bulb. The wire in the center was what was keeping the base on the whole time. The cement decays with heat. E27 is the European version and E26 is the American version. They are only a millimeter apart and therefore are interchangeable. Just mind the bulbs voltage. The black coating is only an enamel layer to protect the bulb (it may have other benefits) but otherwise, the main ceramic is just white.
The metal core heats up through the wattage forced through it . That heats the ceramic making infered wavelengths of irc . It's not a natural wavelength found in nature. It's like getting blown in the face by a hairdryer haha deep heat projector provided ira and irb which are more natural
That maybe correct in some cases however proper bulbs are made to specific specs with higher quality components and tested to those specs whereas others are just put together without testing.
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS It's a yes and no answer. The bulbs are identical, same materials, minus brand. Your bulb seemed fine, except for the "peeling" that you pointed out. I don't if it was peeling from the glass enamel, or if it was a mineral deposit from evaporated water. But if it was peeling from the enamel it could be because you had it on an humid environment; thermic shock. Also, they don't get tested, one gets tested, and all others are produced based on the one that was tested. the design and materials are also pretty inexpensive, and rudimentary; ceramic, electric coil, and socket. You can't add nor perfect it in any other way. You could but an expensive one and a cheap one and do a side by side comparison, and they will be identical.
Mine has fallen and a small piece of the ceramic chipped off. I desperately need it to keep my chicks warm tonight. Is this a fire hazard? None of the wires or springs are exposed.
That deep heat projector that you got in popcorn viv is that enough to heat a 6x2x2 viv alone because viv got baby albino boa and thinking of using deep heat projector but not sure as iv only used ceramic
Very interesting l have always wondered how they do these, l have a couple here but l have never used them as yet. They are just incase of an emergency.
I’m really struggling to keep my humidity down in my leopard gecko what do you recommend I’ve watched a previous video from you and installed 2 more vents in my 40 gallon tank also how long do the bulbs last and I heard somewhere having one decrease humidity, does it?
No. Gasses are only used in bulbs where it reacts with current to create light. These are just current like an electric stove ran through ceramic that absorbs the current made heat and projects it. No gas needed
Cheap brands don't work as good too if you use a thermostat it says it ..... degrees but you lose a lot off heat if your probe hangs not on the bottom. My probe hangs just under the bulb like 8 cm under It and if I use the correct one it works much better and it's warmer on the bottom. But I have a heat bulb normal one and a UVB light too. But my heat bulbs max is 75 watt I can put I there. And in the ceramic it can even as high as 200 watts. I have a cold room. But they hang inside the Terra. So I make a basking spot in winter with an exo Terra heat lamp 50 or 75 watt. And on the other side I have a ceramic heat amitter with thermostat that I put on like 26 degrees celcius at night and 28 at day. Remember I lose 2 degrees Celsius on the bottom. So it's 24 and 26. And under the basking spot it's like 29-30 degrees Celsius on the ground. Rest of well the middle off the enclosure is like 24 degrees Celsius then. My Terra is 120cm*50cm*50cm for a cal king.
I plugged a new bulb in to test it but accidentally brushed it up against a piece of clear plastic and it melted the plastic onto the bulb.My chicks need the heat and I cant get it all off.
I always did want to see what's inside of these but I don't recommend doing what he did cuz it's actually very dangerous to open a bulb with your bare hands and you could be letting out fumes from the inside when you do this that's why they tell you to dispose of bulbs correctly.
The “corrosion” inside the metal contact is where the nichrome wire touches the metal, causing some discoloration. True for any che and is not a problem. Nichrome wire when heated breaks down over time, albeit a long time, maybe 5-10 years depending on usage, but it happens. ON/OFF temperature controllers speed up the breakdown because the filament cycles from very hot to not to hot. A proportional controller or dimmer on the other hand does not do that. But CHEs are so inexpensive and last long relative to other bulbs, so who cares.
Doing a college assignment and I chose to describe heat emitters haha thx you've helped me with the assignment

Brilliant video im looking for a good quality heating solution and been struggling to decide any recommendations ?
So the inside of it is just the heating element covered by ceramic, how does it make infrared?

You sir are reading my mind... i was thinking about this the whole day. And you upload this video???
Thank you
Pretty cool, i've always been curious myself
I accidentally dropped my bulb and chipped a small chip off my bulb. Is it still safe to use? Seems to be working fine for now.
The "cheap" Chinese "knockoff" bulbs are made in the same factory as the expensive Chinese real bulbs.

Neat, thanks for sharing
What gauge Nichrome wire was used..?
Man your channel rocks!
Thanks a bunch
And a radient heat panel in comparison is ?
is this an infrared heater or a general heater?

I wouldn't of said so. Think the ceramic is just a heat projector
Not a fire hazard, but obviously keep the bulb surface (even the sides) away from wood, paper, animals, etc.

It is at the minute but only just so if I upgrade I'll need to add another
These bulbs have a great radious

having additional heat helps providing there is many of venterlation
NORTHERN EXOTICS okay thanks I’m getting a heat projector now instead! I’ll add more ventilation thanks for the help :)
@@rylie2679 Are you using a digital meter?
i love youre vids man .but i have droped this bulb .and know wats in it but thanks old man
Do ceramic heat emitter has mercury vapor???
I want to switch to ceramic heat emitter please help me out
