As the scapegoat in an Irish Catholic family, knowing how gerderm terrorized I was by my sisters when it came to tormenting me with repetitions (think along the lines of ‘Brendan’s got a mangiiiina’, and being a 5’14 woman I got it all), so THIS SONG and THAT LINE gave me the spark I needed to become creative in my responses. Because anything straightforward and truthful just got me closer to boarding school 🤷🏻♀️
I love that Trixie stands by the statement that she finds the song really annoying, while at the same time essentially admits that her opinion doesn’t matter that much because it’s only her own opinion. She’s not trying to speak for anyone else or say no one else should like the song. haha
I loved the energy of the song as a kid because my parents always played Spanish music. So it was nice to break away from that every once in a while. As I grew older- I looked into the lyrics and I found a new appreciation for it.
My sons 9 and its his favorite song. He came across it about a year ago while in my car and bow ive probably heard it 300 times in the passed year. Almost a daily basis. 😂 Before that it was Everybody Wants to Rule the World. That one wasnt from me. Idk where he heard it but he would sing his little "HOLD YOUR HANDS WHILE THE WALLS COME TUMBLING DOWN" with his whole being. 😂😂
Everyone misses the dark side of “Hey Ya” because the tune has this infectious pop energy. Andre 3000 deliberately put dark lyrics, with pop stylings to show that most people don’t give a shit about what the lyrics are saying, as long as they can dance and sing along with it. That’s why the “Alright” part is annoying, it’s meant to be vacuous. The fact that it became a hit just proved his point. The song’s actually genius.
i was in the mental hospital for 2 weeks and we couldn’t have phones or anything but there were computers in the classrooms (without internet access) and you could request songs to be added. someone out hey ya on there and i listened to it everyday..
Hey, that last part was true" do you think outcast thinks it's a bad song because I don't like it?"... People forget that their opinions are just opinions sometimes.
I don’t know if it’s my least favorite song. But “Hey Soul Sister” like why is that even a thing? Songs from the early 2010s can be cringe trying to be all cool and hip like what are y’all doing? 😂
used to absolutely despise that song, but my least favs ever are Lovely Day, Don't Stop the Feeling by JT, and Whats Your Name (Little Girl) by Leonard Skynard
I think the song slays because it had me singing about "why're we so in denial, when we know we're not happy here" as a six year old and that's impressive.
"Do you think that OutKast thinks that song is not good -" no, they probably just thknk its alrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalrightalright
What ruined it for me is listening to some guy do a slowed down cover and realising how depressing the lyrics are. No really, go look 'em up. Devastating.
💯Trixie is right! It’s up there with Mambo Number Five as the two worst popular songs ever. I never even knew what it was called, I just knew it was incredibly annoying!
Hey Ya! in general is a *very* morbid and depressing song if you actually listen to it. Despite it being a genuinely good song, I still don’t understand how people overlook the despair and depression of it all. The “alright, alright, alright, alright” is supposed to represent a breakdown, a delusion of sorts. Basically I get why Trixie doesn’t like it, it’s the same reason for me but I still bump to it every now and again. It just drives me insane
Finally someone else who hates that song i feel like everyone loves iy when i dont think it's good at all. Like i used to hate it in the mark of my bones
Especially if you know the rest of OutKast’s work. I fully believe hey ya is for those that don’t really know their other stuff because it’s far from their best song.
I want to come back to this, equipped with theory; but I'm not! Andre 3000 flute shows, I want to go to one so bad! PLUS Big Boi has OWLS! ACTUAL OWLS! That he records! So fucking cool!
when trixie starts saying "alright alright alright" the laughs in the background sound like she set off a bunch of car alarms
Noooo because “Yall don’t wanna hear me ya just wanna dance” has been my vocal stun for the past 2 weeks whyyyyy
STUN
@ I SWEAR I wrote stim wtf
that part is so goodd
@@cutetiger678 Hello Gia Gunn, how's the hair???
This song plays at my work a lot as of the last two or so month and same. I just walk around like "yall don't wanna hear me, ya just wanna dance"
Knowing that Trixie will randomly repeat commercial jingles over and over, I can see how this song would drive her insane
Me with that happy song by Pharrell
Yes!! Omg I can’t stand that song. It makes me unhappy lol
"clap if you feel like a room without a roof" is such a weird lyric it always makes me giggle bc it sounds absurd.
Yes! I didn't like it anyway but then it was SO OVER PLAYED
oh my godd i HATE that song.
sorry to thingwy who wrote it but i find it so annoying💀
That song fills me with murderous intent for no reason.
that’s LITERALLY my favorite part 😂😂😂😂

andre himself doesnt like it so LMFAOOO
I cant stop watching the alrightalrightalrightalrightalright bit. Trixie's voice, the editing, the background laughing - sublime
her “yeeaah🧑🏻🦲” staring off in the distance 😂😂
The way that’s literally the best part of the song
I love that Trixie stands by the statement that she finds the song really annoying, while at the same time essentially admits that her opinion doesn’t matter that much because it’s only her own opinion. She’s not trying to speak for anyone else or say no one else should like the song. haha
Me but Hey Soul Sister
100% valid tbh
Dude mine is hotline bling
"I'm so gangsta, I'm so thug" I mean I get it
Hey Soul Sister is an *abomination.*
I don't mind it as much now but man, for a couple years in the early 2010s you could not go ANYWHERE without hearing that song, it was awful lol
She’s definitely not gonna like “ain’t no sunshine”
I'm not going to lie, I wish he would have gone twice as long with the "alright alright alright alright alright alright alright".
SAME!
Suddenly I can’t remember how long the alrights go for 😂
🎵You know what to dOoooo🎵
Y’all don’t wanna hear me 😢 yall just wanna dance

That’s kinda the best part lol😅🙌🏽
Exactly 😂
@@tamikasmall9557 I need to hear it now!
yes André does it intentionally kinda annoying. The whole song is comedic hello look at the video.
@@Strwrsgrl01it’s life changing😂
Just like tyler the creator’s “OKEOKEOKEOKEOKEY”
Ok now ladies ! YEAH
Shake it a like a Polaroid picture
The head turning as he repetitively sang "Alright"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hmmm I do hope she doesn't come across that one RUclips vid that loops just the "alright alright alright alright" part over and over 😅
“Do you think OutKast thinks that song isn’t good because I don’t think it’s good? Of course not, it doesn’t matter.” ❤
Trixie isn’t mentally ready yet for that song💕
If I ever run into Trixie, I'll be sure to play it full blast😂
So accurate, though. That part takes like, 4 business days to get through, it's so long 😅
I don't know what song I was expecting her to say when I clicked, but I'm absolutely heartbroken rn 😭
she loves the b 52’s but doesnt like hey ya??? make it make sense
But *everybody had matching towels* don't you get it?
Some of ya’ll bout to be real mad at me…but it must be said. Love Shack is hot garbage.
@@MikanBaldmiki I see your Love Shack and raise you a "Give Me Back My Man". They managed to make nonsense heartbreaking. I also love Butterbean 😅

That song was the reason for an official announcement that you are not supposed to shake a Polaroid picture 😂

Oh bless his little heart. You should show him the Weezer cover of Everybody Wants To Rule The World, it's so fucking mint.
oh my gods SAME thaNK TOU TRIXIE
This is so funny because she named that song for a joke, in the Queens Like to Watch for The Woman in the Window.
ALRIGHT NOW FELLAS
OMG ME TOO! Too many nights bartending when that song was a hit. Even though I love OutKast.
THAT'S THE BEST PART!!!!!
Thank you Trixie, you share my loathing for this song for the EXACT same reason ❤
crazy it’s literally my favorite song of all time. bop, banger, and a jam? all in one song?? incredible.
The song " It's the end of the world as we know it" drives me crazy.
Ohhh, I agree, that song is super annoying….but the song “Losing my Religion” by the same band (REM) makes me forgive them for the annoying song lol
@@AjJean13That's pee in the corner 🤢
Help thats my favorite part of thr song 😭
the fact i listened to this song TODAY😭
Trixie has clearly not been subjected to Tom MacDonald, and I’m envious of that

I’m more an 80s new wave girlie- like Erasure, Echo, the cure etc… but Sleep Token has a version of Hey Ya that brought me to tears. It’s so good.
I somehow missed this in the sleep token discography and I’m dying of laughter at the combination 😂
@ It’s definitely a wild choice, but their version is so devastating in the best way possible 🩵
HEEEEEEY YAAAAA
I HATE IT TOO! O MA GAWD that song was everywhere in the 2010s !! Every department store
I actually think Andre said he didn't like that song either.
