Still remember the first time I saw them live late 80s at "The Country Club" Reseda CA. Along with Sepultura & Sodom, if I am not mistaken or going senile at my age. I loved being a teenager in the mid to late 80s. Sorry all other generations after!
I lived down the street from the country club all my life. I never got to experience all those brutal shows as I was not old enough. I remember when they took it down. Its crazy that so many of my favorite bands played in my hometown and I missed all of it.
Same here--we don't have to agree with the lyrics to love the music, right? I think this song is about religious extremist/fundamentalist types more than anything else, the types who give those of us that want to live life a better way for us a bad name.
I find those lyrics to be some poor basic adolescent atheism stuff, but they are spitting some facts, and the way the vocalist sings "Allah.... Budha, Jesus Christ", specially "Allah..." alone, like "Halas", screams "Curse... the Gooods!!!!" and then sings "Too many people have died..." is badass, amazing, vicious, make me want to sing too.
The live versions are always so fucking good. I wish they hadn't fucked up the Eternal Devastation CD with the new version of the song. If you can get a copy of the vinyl, BUY IT!!!!! Priceless!
Classic song done over I have regular version of this album. Saw them with Kreator Sodom on this tour USA was very gd tour. Paid $11 for ticket and shirt was $14. It was either late 2001 or early 2002 can't remember no more
There are pros and cons to both versions. The original's sound had character and an atomsphere, but the guitar tone was just too light. Especially when you compare it to Reign In Blood, Pleasure To Kill and other thrash albums. Even Infernal Overkill had a thicker sound than Eternal Devastation. I also am just not convinced of this song coming from Destruction's "black metal" period. Sentence of Death sure, but even if you think Infernal Overkill was black metal, Destruction damn sure isn't a black metal band. On the other hand, while this version has a better overall mix, they don't quite go double-time speed after the intro like they do in the original. That's one of the great speed-ups in metal ever. Here it's more like 1.75 time. Another thing I don't like about this (and again, this can also be applied to modern Destruction performances), is the detuning. Scheepers never sang a single note in Destruction so there's nothing to compensate for it. I also disagree with the idiot notion that tuning down everything makes it "heavier." If that's the case why didn't they do that on Eternal Devastation? Stick to the key of the album, IMO.
Reign in blood/pleasure to kill got remastered. This did not. They were also a trio back in the day, like sodom. Weaker sound than kreator/slayer because of that
@@silure9502 remastering doesn't make guitars heavier. Also just because Slayer has 4 people doesn't mean all 4 are playing at the same time. Normally one guitar is for the riffs while another only plays the lead parts.
This is SO not better than the original. The original has balls, angst, and just pure thrash attack. This one sounds WAY to over produced. It lost some thing. This just pales in comparison to the original.
I think the live version from Alive devestation is best ( I think it was alive devestation). Opening riff like a bomb going off. . . there's nothing else like it.
@OphidianLord TEUTONIC means "german"...destruction are from germany. people are always looking for new genres and sub genres so then they can argue what bands should and shouldn't be there....i call it METAL...the end. you like destruction over kreator....there was a time (mid 80s/early 90s) when they were very competitive
3 versions: All them are insane! Fuck i love this band
This pleases the ears...
The start is so badass
Love this version. The production is good, but not overdone.
nunca deixei de acompanhar o Destruction e já c vão 40anos é uma banda q também ñ canso de ouvir
Muito massa... qual sua música e álbum preferidos? E os menos preferidos?
camarada gosto de todas mas thrash a é foda

greatest thrash band ever!
ONE OF THE BEST THRASH SONGS AND LYRICS EVER!!!
Destruction Rules!! Masters of Metal !!!
INSANE RIFFS!
Personally, I think this is better than the original.
+Dr. Blitzkrieg by mile,Antichrist is one of rare 100/100 albums
I'm agree with you my brother
@Swiatek702 yeah, dead wrong
Yeap, l also think The Antichrist is the only absolute masterpiece after their first ‘80s - Early ‘90s albums!
Soo much better!!
Oh! Yeah! I saw Destruction live! They're brutal thrash metal!!
thrash never die....
@80smetalchild Dude I thought so! That acoustic intro was what I was looking for actually fucking awesome medieval apocalyptic folk
I do believe in the mighty power of the Christian God, and I love this music...
I do to

For the vocals I am talking about the final Eternal Devastation version.
just one of those songs you wish you had listened to a long long long long time back ago...
sounds a bit like late death! :)
Even though was done originally before late Death ;)
The live versions are always so fucking good. I wish they hadn't fucked up the Eternal Devastation CD with the new version of the song. If you can get a copy of the vinyl, BUY IT!!!!! Priceless!
If the original version had riffs this heavy, it would sound so much better.
This song is so crazy, it makes me want to scream CURSE THE GODS!!!
Best version of this tune ! \m/
that bass
You 're right.
Hell yeah, You're right.
This is just perfect.
Destruction is more than metallica will ever be!
Long live Destruction!
Musically yeas
metallica sucks tbf
"that fools have died for a lie" tragic but true... still on going
Man early Destruction is the shit ....this sounds bad ass
Every song I listen to by this band is pure dynamite!!! love it!
That song could be putting on Spotify.
Kick ass SONG. And off a good album
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
HOLY FUCK that intro is brutal
Allah, Budha, (Jesus) Christ... Initials are "ABC" or "A.B.C.". I wonder if that was on purpose. Christ Jesus is often mentioned as "Christ" only.
It’s actually Yeshua. You’re making no sense. Yeshua is his name. Christ wasn’t his last name. Christ means “the anointed one”.
Seriously how the fuck are people comparing this to Death and Chuck Schuldiner? Not even close...
Normally, when people haven't listened to many bands they tend to compare with others.
long time that noy hear this great song!!
Excellent
EARGASM!
Chuck Schuldiner
singing was inspired by Schmier's vocals
goooooddddddd!!!!!!!!!
So damn good.
I believe in God (but I do not believe in religions, and I despise some of them as Catholicism), and I think this song ROCKS.
Classic song done over I have regular version of this album. Saw them with Kreator Sodom on this tour USA was very gd tour. Paid $11 for ticket and shirt was $14. It was either late 2001 or early 2002 can't remember no more
Holy Shit!
Well put !!!!
EARGASM
How stupid logic can be this is the best part of this song
2:11 - 2:30 mój ulubiony kawałek, ten riff i wokal rozpierdalają !!
The best version
bands like Destruction, Kreator and Sodom make german thrash unforgetable!!!
\m/ \m/

the singer may not be able to sing as high as the guitars, so maybe thats why they tuned it down. just a guess though.
As willinkins said, the detunning is due to schmier's not being able to sing as high as he used to. Many Thrash bands has done that overtime.
Reign in blood/pleasure to kill got remastered. This did not.

This is better than the 2007 version but obviously not as good as the original 1986 version.
worse the the original one. The whole atmosphere, riffing, vocal etc. Anyway, this is the legend band which never die!

Death is certainly inspired by Destruction
Fodaaaa!
@fardiemann They are the first Most popular and best German thrashers Around!
I think the live version from Alive devestation is best ( I think it was alive devestation). Opening riff like a bomb going off. . . there's nothing else like it.

Fucking awesome song in my not so humble opinion.
wow i love destruction
@ 5:02 the best part of the song comes to .... CURSE ... the gods
Schmier still rocks real hard but music wise the original is better.
