when I bought this Kayak I looked on youtube for a how to set it up video so I could see how it worked before I parted with any money, I could not find one, so I've made my own for others to look at when considering one of these. lots of camping trip videos coming! (next Friday will be a good one)
A couple of notes. The pump has valves to pump the green foot rest and seats. Also, the boat should be inflated according to the enclosed ruler. Third, don't inflate the bottom of the seats all the way. Also don't drag the skeg on the ground.
Just bought the K2 a couple of weeks ago, can't wait to try it on our local river in New Zealand this weekend. Thank you SO much for your helpful video. All the best to you and yours. :)
Good set-up review👍....sorry, your 2-year review brought me here. A kayak you can take in a Fiat 500 / 1960's Mini Cooper without the need for roof bars 👍...winning!!
Thanks for the video. But it took me and my husband waaay longer than 5 to 10 minutes to blow it up. Definitely going to invest in a better pump. But other than that. Loved this kayak!
Very well demonstrated and instruction ,I think there good for family fun days which is great and possibly a river trip to a shelter might be a good idea ,but for me Dan I'll stick to land in the woods at my shelter with a cuppa ,saying that got to my camp today and someone's vandalised it pretty bad some people mindless I will just rebuild bigger and better ,interesting video thanks for sharing ♠

Thank you for the demo! I'm wondering whether to get the 1 man version, or the 2 man version (in order to carry a bit of extra kit). How does the 2 man version handle with just 1 person in it?
It handles great, I use mine mostly alone with no issues, check my video list for examples. A friend of mine had the 1 person version.. it’s tiny, I wouldn’t recommend it.
@@cynthiabackman6174 I got the two too. It's great, plenty of room for kit. Both versions are heavy, so I really recommend getting an Isop folding hand cart from Amazon. It'll slip right in to the front/rear of the boat.

@@carolynhoover9444 congrats, hope you enjoy. No, it's to wheel it around when bagged up. It's far too heavy to carry long distances, and I have to get on the train & subway to get to the river.
I'm thinking about either getting the K1 or this one.. I'll be using it alone but I'd prefer more storage for a tent, sleeping bag and a backpack.. what do you guys think how does the 2 persons one handle itself if I only put 1 seat in it ? Would the balance be good or is it better if I just go with the K1 ?
@@CampLifeBushcraft The bottom of the pump housing screws onto the pump body like a jar lid, and they are often loose when first taken out of the package. Snug it up hand-tight before using the pump and it will never come apart while airing up your boat.
@@CampLifeBushcraft These air pumps do an amazingly good job for their size when everything is working right. Even if you decide to go with an electric one, you still need the hand pump to top off the air and to carry on board, should your boat go soft while on the water. I have a Seahawk 2, a K-1 Challenger, a K2 Explorer and might be adding a K2 Challenger to the fleet. They are great little boats!
When only one person is sitting in the kayak, I've read you should sit in the front seat. In the video, you sit in the back. Does it matter? Does it make a difference if you have a weekend's worth of gear?
I always sit in the back when out alone, to my mind there is less drag in the water when paddling as the front is slightly raised. Although I do store my gear at the front to help balance it. But I don’t think it makes that much difference to be honest, sit where you’ll enjoy it the most. That being said.. if you only put one seat in and choose to sit at the back you can then lay down while on the water! 😎
@@CampLifeBushcraft "lay down while on the water!" Not a great idea for sleepyheads like me 😂😂. But great video! I'm excited to take mine out for the first spin!
The only place that’s safe to use is either in your garden when it’s raining or a paddling pool. Those things blow easily off course with the slightest breeze !!!
No inflatable is going to beat a hard-shell anything performance-wise. But when portability, small storage space requirements, affordability and minimal upkeep are important features you need in a boat, inflatables are the only way to go.
@@SteveBurk Most inflatable kayaks have a flat bottom and a wide beam, which contribute to their incredible stability. You won't get the kind of speed you would get out of a hard-shell kayak for that very reason, and they may have more of a tendency to "weathervane" in windy conditions. But if you desire a leisurely kayaking experience on calmer waters, or are a total beginner, the inflatables will instill confidence right off the bat. They are also a very inexpensive way to find out if you want to seriously get into the sport of kayaking. I own three inflatables, each with a different purpose or "mission profile", totaling to less than half the cost of the very cheapest, two seat hard-shell you can buy! Additionally, I can store all of them, plus my Seahawk 2 on a single set of 36"x60"x16" free-standing shelves!
@@SteveBurk That's all I care to do...just take my time, relax, maybe catch a few fish and take some pictures. It's why I made the switch from "regular" boats to these portable inflatables. None of the headaches and expense of upkeep, storage, dockage, insurance, registration and other burdens that come with owning a boat. Just pure and simple fun on the water, and good exercise to boot!
