- THE CAT IN THE HAT MOVIE REACTION! Today I'll be watching a film I have never seen before The Cat in the Hat released in 2003 for the first time. Want to watch the ENTIRE Movie with me? Check out: / timotheereacts
In this live-action film based on the favorite children's tale, the trouble-making Cat in the Hat (Mike Myers) arrives at the home of bored young Sally Walden (Dakota Fanning) and her brother, Conrad (Spencer Breslin), while their mother (Kelly Preston) is out. The family's pet fish (Sean Hayes) objects to the Cat's presence, but that doesn't stop the hat-wearing giant feline from trying to have fun, no matter how much destruction is left in his wake.

React to The Haunted Mansion movie next
Awwwwwn i'm glad to be back and doing more collabs with Tim! It's always fun interacting with this awesome community! 🥰🥰
Please also react to Dr. Seuss Horton Hears a Who! (2008).. please.. thank you :)
I think the 1993 TOM AND JERRY MOVIE would be a worthy option as well
Come soon "Horton Hears At Who
Fun fact: after this movie was unsurprisingly panned by critics, Dr Seuss’s widow forced movie studios to no longer make any more live action movies based on his work.
The main reason The Lorax exists as an animated film
Ah yes The Lorax, or as i like to call it, Climate change - The Movie
Same with "Horton Hears a Who" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" from 2018.
@@purgebluethe book is the same way though.
@@BirdNerd906 i know, i just like calling it Climate Change - The movie since the whole theme of The Lorax and all the songs in the movie is just "We are destroying the enviorment"
@@purgeblue Lol, I remember the car commercial using the Lorax...you know, the sort of thing Seuss probably would have been okay with, lol. Emissions, yay!
Hand Sanitizers at the office and employees washing their hands constantly? This movie was way ahead of its time.
That's what I think now
A little too far..
The writer already knew what will happen in 2020.
Most important lesson from this movie is pay attention what's going on around you and you have to know when enough is enough.
CitH: You're not only right, you're smart!
Message!
I thought the most important lesson was to not make this movie
@@gamemaster2819 no
There two lessons I learn from this movie.
One, this movie sucks.
Two, never let anyone reeboot Dr. Suess books.
I actually love this movie and it's humorous insanity. I watched it a lot as a kid, so you can imagine the overload of nostalgia that hit me while watching this reaction. I haven't seen the movie in over 5 years, but I still remember it almost to script.
The movie was awesome
This one of the first films I ever watched growing up. Others may hate it, but not me!
The Cat really said: “I’m going fail disastrously through life and you will love every minute of it.”
This movie always brings me back to my childhood! Also it’s so funny how as a kid I never noticed all the dirty jokes but now I do like that’s so funny 😂
People who grew up reading The Cat in the Hat book may hate this movie, but not me, I read the book and I love ❤️ this movie. This movie was part of my childhood.
Fun fact: The beam that fell in the background, Mike Myers didn’t know if the beam fell and his startled 😯 reaction when the beam in the background fell, his reaction was real.
The funny thing is, I felt the live action was a good representation of the book. What happens in the book? The Cat in the Hat barges into the house, causes mischief and mayhem, and all in the name of fun. To me the real lesson of Cat in the Hat is "Kids, don't let strangers into your house."
So the reason Mike Meyers did this movie was to avoid a lawsuit. He had agreed to do a film with Universal based on another one of his SNL characters: Dieter Sprocket. Meyers canceled the project, resulting in Universal and Imagine Entertainment suing him for a combined $33.8 million. As part of the settlement, Meyers agreed to star in any movie Universal wanted him to do, and they chose Cat in the Hat because Tim Allen dropped out due to Santa Clause 2.
You're going to be taken aback by all the adult jokes in this one, Tim!😅
I think the lesson that you probably learned here is that you never know what you have until it's gone.❤️
Fun fact: Mike Myers was going to be a part of a film bringing an SNL character of his into a movie. He backed out of it and Universal sued. They settled it out of court and details are rather weird but it was decided that The Cat In The Hat was the compromise.
Another fun fact: On the DVD commentary; Bo Welch, the director, is actually allergic to cats 🐈 because of the scene where The Cat scratches himself.
Fish - "This cat has broken 17 of your mother's rules."
(Phone rings)
Cat - "City morgue..."
Fish "18!"
Finally watched this after 20 years and you know what? I kind of liked it! It's sheer chaos and Mike Myers doesn't seem aware he's in a kids film at all, lol
This movie is an absolute fever dream and I'm here for it. Keep up the good work lmao.
One of the funniest kids films ever and I’ll take that to my grave.
I, unashamedly, love this movie. Love love love it. Thanks Tim and Malbread for reacting and sharing
I died laughing when Cat in the hat said, "Dirty hoe. (Drops hoe then brings it back up) I'm sorry baby I know I love you. (tries to lick it)"
And also when the Cat's car scene.
Cat in the hat: Behold. The Super Luxurious Omnidirective Whatchamajigger. Or for short S.L.O.W
Conrad: S.L.O.W?
Cat in the hat: Yeah Slow. It worked with the last name we had. Super Hydraulic Instataneous Transporter.
Carmen: Oh you mean Shi-
Cat in the hat: NOOOO!!! Quick to the slow! God I love Mike Myers he makes me laugh when he gets kid friendly then takes it to the next level.
As a kid I ADORED this movie. I think I've watched it 10+ times!
18:34 That shot looks like he hung himself by the neck! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I watched this dozens of times when I was a little kid, and now that I think about it, this movie shouldn't work, so random, and I really like it. I don't know what it is. I've always liked this movie when I was really young and I still find it enjoyable. This, to me, is one of those so bad it's good movies.
This movie is crazy! Not to mention the things they did in this film were not appropriate, but I do enjoy some moments in this film that bring some laughs!
Loved the reaction Timothee!
“Babysitters don’t leave, they sit! Baby leavers leave!”
Bad memories from your last marriage, I presume?
Malbread is so funny I love what an expressive face she has, what a perfect guest for reactions.
Got a lot of fun vids coming up!
@@TimotheeReacts Well, I'm glad to hear it thank for letting us know and thank for the love.
Woah thank you so much!!!🤗
18:14, at the time PG let movies get away with a lot more than it does now.
This movie is very bizarre but it has a certain charisma if one could say, no everything works some things yes and others don't but it's a guilty pleasure
Mike Myers was the right choice for the Cat in the Hat. Every time I hear his voice I'll think about Shrek. 👏
18:48 that has to hurt
4:13 he just wanted to pay tribute to Home Alone.
You wouldn't know from just his performance alone that Mike Myers was doing this movie essentially at gunpoint; after a "Sprockets" movie fell through, Universal did a bunch of contract chicanery, essentially sending him the ultimatum "be in this movie, or we'll sue you into oblivion."
And yeah, the art and production design for this movie is definitely bringing its "A"-game. I think the director was one of Tim Burton's regular design guys getting his shot in the big chair.
It should not surprise you that after this, he's stayed in the art department ever since.
Omg y'all's face at 13:23
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
this movie is completely goddamn psychotic, and to this day I can't seem to fully reconcile whether I love it or hate it for that reason
30:20, Horton Hears a Who, the 2008 animated movie from Blue Sky
9:35 It’s giving Carmen Miranda Musical Number.
Apparently after this movie Dr. Seuss’s wife forbid them from making anymore live action versions of his books
“That’s after Taco Bell.” HAHAHAHAHA I can’t unsee it 🚽 🔥
I see it all the time as a kid
It was funny omg
Mike Myers who play shrek and now the cat I love it omg
Glad you both love it
Fun fact : Sean Hayes had two roles in this. Mr.Humberfloob also voiced the fish.
18:46 that Always gets me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have to admit I never understood the scene he imagines after the hit
I loved all the adult jokes even though some were pushing the barriers. Great combination once again, Timothee.
Mike myers made the cat in the hat to get out of a lawsuit bc he was signed to do a movie about a character he created in SNL but Mike changed his mind on doing that.
13:22 fastest interaction of all
I loved this movie as a kid but it still cracks me up all of these years later.
Now all you need to react to Horton Hears A Who and The Grinch (2018)
Love this movie and Rip kelly preston the Actress that Play the Mom
I love this movie thank you for doing this ❤️
As someone who normally likes watching movies a lot more than reading books, "The Cat in the Hat" is probably the ONLY instance where I like the book way more than the movie. Lol
Actually, I might count The Grinch as well, but I'm still hesitant because I have fond memories of the grinch cartoon from the 60s.
Edit: Scratch that, I think EVERY Dr. Seuss book that was turned into a movie was better in some capacity, don't get me wrong, "Horton Hears a Who!" wasn't bad, but even then I thought the book was slightly better.
Serial arsonist that seems like a oddly pacific thing to be on there
I don't care what anybody says. This movie is awesome, it has funny jokes and it will always be a part of my childhood.
15:30 Yeah, it might have been a good idea to read the two 'cat in the hat' books before seeing this. movie - just to give you a heads up
I remember me and my brother unironically enjoying this movie when we were younger.
I have a confession to make: The live action Cat in the Hat is one of my greatest fears. He just freaks me out. 😞
Even now ?
@@a.g.demada5263 Not as much
But a little
@@K7CG2004 me too, there's still a scene in a movie (an animated one) I'm unable to watch because it afraid me as a child
@K7 take a shot every time he shouts “OH YEAH!!!” it might get you through it
I don’t care what the critics say because honestly I love this film growing up I thought it was super funny and super wacky and loved the adult jokes too and I do love Mike Meyers performance as the cat proves he can play anything😊 glad you guys enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next reaction 😃😄😉😉
This movie and Mike Myers’s is hilarious if you look at it in the spirit of Cat in The Hat and not the literal point.
Rip Kelly Preston 🙏
Oh my gosh thank you so much for posting this reaction I’m really hyped seeing this.
I love this movie since childhood so I'm happy to see your reaction to it
This is either the single greatest cinematic experience ever or the worst thing ever created. It's one or the other and nothing in between.
It doesn't look so bad to be the worst. There are far worse flicks.
I know this film isn’t great but watching and hearing the innuendo they inserted 20 years later makes it more enjoyable LOL
Also fun fact, Dr. Seuss’ widow hated the film so much that she forbade anymore live action adaptations of her late husband’s work. There was also going to be a film adaptation of the sequel “Cat in the Hat Comes Back” but that of course didn’t happen.
This movie deserved 90%+, classic!😂😂
This, Mouse Hunt, The Little Vampire and another Spy Kids/Sharkboy & Lavagirl-like movie called "Shorts" are all movies i frequently revisit whenever i just wanna take a break from being an adult.
Plus, another good movie would totally be a house with a clock in its walls also goosebumps 1+2 and the Lorax which is another Dr. Seuss book as well not just another Dr. Seuss movie. It has been a long time since I’ve arrived so I need some time to rhyme again to rhyme I can rhyme it just has been. A long time since I went that far.
Fun fact: Tim Allen was considered to play the Cat in the Hat, but he was busy working on The Santa Claus 2.
lmfao i literally find something funny everytime i watch. i never peeped shampooch 😂
You know st.patricks day is coming up I'd recommend a very unlucky leprechaun or the last leprechaun
With Dreamwork’s, you can always expect adult humor in “kids” movies.
Or except references to their other movies
This is one of those movies that i know it’s bad but i like it lol, i love mike myers comedy.
I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it as an adult (just in a different way).
The whole town set looks like Jamba Juice vomited on IKEA
Lol Shrek met Cat in the Hat!!!! Into the Mike Myer Verse
the next dr suess movie you guys should watch its horton hears who 2008 movie
The cat in the hat is one very amazing and funny movie. And all of the characters are very popular to.
There is an animated version of The Grinch as well.
Dr Suess meets Coffee Talk
Lol my sister and I grew up on this movie! We would watch it over and OVER again, I watched it again recently and as an adult it’s even funnier! You miss a lot of what the cat is ACTUALLY SAYING as a kid and focus on the colors, the running around, the mess and more but the cat is HILARIOUS to me😂
7:57 That didn't age well insert here
9:34 Kill me!
13:08 Ridiculous trying to hard 🙄
17:58 I don't think That's PG
This is, learned from personal experience, the best movie to watch while drunk.
React to Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham (2019)
Michael Douglas voiced the main character of the show
Hippie Cat is best character.
Yessssss my favorite movie
This film is The Room of children's movies
MalBread is back!
18:47 man down, I repeat man down!
Santa Sangre, Bless the Beast and the children , Summer of 42, Freebie and the Bean, Born Free, Ring of Bright Water. Those are some of my suggestions
Should’ve called Thing 1 and Thing 2 in this movie Abomination 1 and Abomination 2. This movie is full of nightmare fuel.
I know that the actor for the cat was held under contract and he DID NOT WANT to participate in this movie
This movie feels like a pg 13 version with no limited cussing but really no cussing at all
Atp they shoulda did a pg 13 rating because it gives off so much of that feeling
U can point out so many dirty jokes in under 20 minutes 💀
12:28Jeffrey Dahmer
What were the movie makers smoking or drinking when making this and where can I get it?
😂
I,v got a nother one for you Blue Sky,s Horton Here,s A Who released in 2008
I recommend Dr. Seuss Horton hears a who it has Jim Carrey.
i love this movie this is awesome
Malbread: Everything is cartoony!
"The Flintstones" (1994) Hold my beer...
Don't bad mouth one of my favourite childhood movies.
I'm actually one of those people that loves that movie
About Dr Seuss movie suggestions, I highly recommend Horton Hears a Who (2008) the 3D-animated film with Jim Carrey and Steve Carell
Great videos 😊👍
He scares me idk why..
