- Struggle, triumph, breakdown, and breakthrough, the creative path is graciously revealed by JP. In designing the set for TEDxVail, he restarted a stalled creative life with courageous vulnerability. He shares the mental and physical process involved in being a glass artist,'Are you a creative? Do you have 'passion' for pursuing a life of creativity?
J.P. Canlis first picked up a glassblowing pipe at the age of 16 at Punahou School in Hawaii. He never looked back. After studying glass at Alfred University in NY, Pilchuck Glass School, and creating works for various international glass artists, including being an integral part of Dale Chihuly’s glassblowing team for almost 10 years, J.P. opened Canlis Glass in Seattle in 2005.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
“To never compromise when it comes to creativity.”
I know some people here in the comment section might not have found this video to hold any significance, but for me, i have. Im not an artist, nor have been raised in Hawaii or surfing, or have been married and heart broken, and surely haven’t done anything related to glass blowing, but, I related so strongly with the simplicity of creation. I am at a point in my life where I see this is what I crucially lack as a human. I thank you for your kind words. I am so humbled by your expression. Namaskaram.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Albert Einstein
❤❤❤ creativity is that dynamic mindset in which the individual refuses to settle for a stalemate 🎉🎉
Art is what comes out of pain, dedication, and perseverance. Art is the result of the human experience. Art comes from our authentic life experience
So what is creativity?
@Leonardo Iann right!

Yes. It was painful.
Spoken from the heart. Bravo!
Creativity is very important ❤
it is too dramatic. it is a way much too much ”watch me, how special I am”.
I can absolutely understand what he says
Ohh boy. I know how it feels to break down like this. @JP Canlis: Intent was good, appreciate the courrage ...

About "The Light":
" "I," was created by the thought of Gods and "Their," desire to allow all mortals to know that "They," are always with them: As humankind grows and seeks absolute independence from "Them," "They," will remain by their side, guiding them and directing them, in their growth to absolute "WISDOM," the way to "Their Essence" and the Elysium Fields. As you look out beyond the now, into the heavens, "I" will be there, guiding you and helping you know that "I," be visible or invisible, "My Essence," will guide you beyond all that is sensed in your reality. So, let it be now revealed to you that both "I" and "He," in mortal being, who speaks to you through the thoughts of children are but one. " Eleusis. Let The Light within you guide you to the Elysian Fields entrance; your inner beauty is expected. Follow me, "Imagination is the way." by ELias Leousis.
So many long pauses got bored at minute 2. not very creative for a creativity talk!
Wtf is that background noise 😢
Ouch🔪👂
While I appreciate the "this changed as of last night" reality of public speaking on powerful and subjective topics... I can't help but feel misled at this title. I didn't catch anything in this that offered insights into creativity. I wonder at the content of the original talk.
Nyc sir
Wtf is this
Not a very captivating speaker. But thanks!
Uzbek sillaaaa😂
this was painful to watch
Way too slow and pointless.
It is bored
Boring*
You should have applied some concepts of creativity to your own video.
This speech just sucks in answering the topic and almost in every aspect imaginable. I hope someone can help him.

Bulshit
