I honestly never cared for RT, but in single player it clearly breathes a lot of life into the scenes. The details matter and here it shows. Though the lack of reflections without RT seems like a way to mainly promote Nvidia cards. Not a fan of that 😅

@@CenaDK Yeah. Most of us have wooden floors or at least have seen light bouncing off on a wooden floor and this shimmering is not at all like how wooden surfaces reflect lights.
While RT takes a hit on performance it does add a more realistic look and feel to the game. Not just reflections but shoadows and how they make it true to life surrounding objects and characters. There does seem to be some shimmering but that could be easily fixed if the game added Ray Reconstruction. Of course thats an Nvidia supported feature while Hogwarts was built on Unreal Engine but it could be a feature added in Hogwarts Legacy 2.

I can see why people turn RTX off, too much shimmering Artifacts. It looks better in some areas and worse in others. Its a frame rate killer too. My 4070 is like 130-200 fps off and 74fps RTX on and in most cases I can't tell on from off. This video they cherry picked select scenes but even in those there is crawling and shimmering artifacts.
AMD card owners be like: this is fine. i dont need it. on the other hand, if 2:01 even nvidia cuda core cards drop from 90 fps to mid 30s, rt is just brutal in this game.
RT would be much better here if it wasn't so much more of a performance hog than usual and if it actually fixed the things I want it to fix. Reflections on bodies of water are not RT, which is the number one area SSR artifacts bug me, and RTAO doesn't even seem to be working since I still see SSAO artifacts from hidden geometry. Add on top of that all the ridiculous pop in and stuttering, this game is really a mess in a technical sense. I'm still able to play it and enjoy it, and if the technical issues were fixed it would be incredible, but from my perspective it's more broken on PC than Cyberpunk was at launch.
This shows it in all its naked monstrosity. RTX here is not worth it at all. Sometimes it looks even worse, with the shimmering bugged reflections. The RTX ambient oclusion is not to be even seen here. Only thing which kind of works are shadows. That can look like a big deal, when it adds that window light in a room. But honestly, same room with RT off look like RT ON just a differen time of a day. The perfomance hit is massive. This is lame as it gets. Compared to Dying Light 2 RT, or Cyberpunk, or Metro Exodus, this is a joke.
It feels like Ray Tracing on UE4 is simply not worth it. They patched RT on the game making the whole game bloated as hell. The mirror part is actually even worse, I have never seen such a bad ray tracing. It is a game where even if I can play with Ray Tracing I will only use RT shadow and call it a day.
@@randomguy_069 yes, thats the only effect which is implemented relatively nicely there. Question is the performance hit. It seems RT hits unreasonably hard in this game. Most likely the implementation is bad even on the performance level, not only visual. And the best RT effect is not even present here - Global Ilumination - the effect which really makes RT worth it and improves visuals drastically. MIA. I like how this game basically has no reflections without RTX
Is it just for pc then? Because PS5 looks like it has some version of Ray tracing, the light reflections on the floors look amazing
@TheGamingSponge1 if it doesn't specify then it doesn't
It takes a lot of work to make prebaked reflections, so they just let RTX do the lifting.
