This is really a lose lose situation for the master debater. If he says economic stability he will only prove the guys point and if he says LGBTQ+ the guy would try to make him look stupid. Like "Ha this guy wants a trivial thing like LGBTQ+ rights instead of economic stability" The two are so wildly different and are a trick question for the guys agenda.

I saw one where a girl was stopped mid-stride and was asked one of these trap questions. She immediately looked annoyed and asked the guy "why are you asking that question?" (ie. what's your motivation?) and he just stayed silent while she stood there with her hands on her hips, then he weakly mumbled something that might've been the question again, might've been him asking her to answer (genuinely can't remember). The silence went on for SO LONG. She was glaring into his SOUL and he failed to say ANYTHING. When she'd given him enough time to respond but he just kept standing there like a limp noodle, she said "okay" in an irritated tone and walked away.
The uploader decided to try and spin this by saying that she was "a lagging NPC" and editing a spinning loading wheel over her head. It was so transparent. Especially because he was acting super meek in the clip in an attempt to appear like the "normal" one, but he just came off as intimidated and unprepared for her questioning him back. And dude, her scowl was deeep. No hiding it. She barely even blinked. Just glared lasers through his wide-eyed face.

That’s guys entire channel (Shaneyyricch‘s) is so incredibly annoying. He leads conversations, asks loaded questions, and like you said, thrives of making people look stupid. The worst part is, everyone in his comments agrees with him! They’re even dunking on the other guy, saying stuff like “why didn’t he answer the question, idiot” and such. He manages to make EVERYONE look bad, whether they answer calmly, walk away, or get engaged in the “debate”. The sheer popularity of his videos too, is astounding.

I used to believe that people who wanted to "debate and have discussions" is doing in good faith. But as recent years, i suddenly realized that theae people don't really want to have a "debate", they only want to say any horrible shit without any repercussions.
If someone falls into their bad faith trap, and engage into the point of frustration, theae master debaters would then pull a victim card, crying "All I want is to debate and have a discussion, but they keep yelling at me and call me names".
All this is just a tactic to make you the "irrational" one, as they try to get a rise out of your emotions. The winning move is not to play.

A debate is supposed to be exchanging points of both parties to try and sway the audience not a way to convince the opponent into your view. If there's a topic I feel needs a counterargument, I simply post my points clearly and only reply when points need to be shared or addressed.
Sadly in this day and age, people only want to "debate" to feel superior over another and have a compulsive need to argue if some one disagrees. I will admit I do feel like it sometimes but I try my hardest not to get dragged by the bottomless well of emotions.

I mean it is a smart move because it is a question that you loose no matter which way you look at it, because no matter the answer, it can be interpreted as not caring about the other issue. In today's online space, a lot of people feel like they can't refuse an arguement/ debate out of fear of being thought of as a coward and ends up getting way to invested in trivial and meaningless debates and looking the fool afterwards. I find it quite refreshing that someone not only embodies the philosophy of retreating to fight another day rather than die fighting, but is celebrated for it

As someone else pointed out (whose argument I am very nicely and politely stealing), it’s basically a trap to benefit him and his audience, not a real question. If the person picks LGBTQ+ rights, then the “debater” can go “wow look at this stupid woke kid prioritizing a small group over the whole nation lmao” and rile up his most likely homophobic, anti sjw crowd. If he picks economic stability, then the original guy just forced the interviewee to kind of support his view on LGBTQ+ rights (this isn’t exactly what happens, but this is my best shot at explaining it).
