    heyy voltlog
    on the eleshop specs page
    it says it has arb waveform function
    however in your review was saying no arb?
    also because there is a bit 50mhz version
    and that one says includes arb too
    then the 900 series (even more expensive)
    also says it has arb listed
    so perhaps on the lowest models the specs sheet is wrong?
    for example if they copy pasted it from another literature
    ========
    here is another question missing feature
    if we can link any of these models to the 804 oscilloscope
    that the does not have built in signal generator
    to unlock those extra disabled functions (such as fft sweep etc)
    because that is what they do on the siglent
    that there is a connection between as external driving device
    anyhow hope you are doing well voltlog
    nice to see you

      It does not fully support ARB yet, no. Its explained in the eevblog thread.

      When they say it has the arb waveform function, they are referring to the built-in list of arb functions, which btw is quite comprehensive. I would go as far as saying that 99% of the time, the function you're going to need is built-in already.. Unless you are working on something very special at which point it might make sense to have a look at the higher spec models anyway.
      It's very interesting to hear about this function you mention on the Siglent, I did not know that was possible but is definitely nice to have and a way to keep your customers close. Maybe I'll get a chance to review some Siglent instruments at some point. Thanks!

    HATE those stupid artistic keypads. They should just stop this nonsense. And as usual..... the smallest fonts known to man on a GIANT screen. Keysight is EXPENSIVE but they really have the user interface down. 👍
    The only appeal to me with Rigol's new USB powered line is if I wanted to set up a mobile lab, which would be kinda cool!

      it is already much better than what I'm used to from them. Look at the DP932 for example, it looks like a child drew the front panel.
      the circular keypad is abysmal, though, no question there

      Agree the keypad is ugly. Budget-wise however Keysight is a form of extorsion.

      @@Janktzoni Oh yeah! I have a Rigol 2000 series scope and a Keysight 2000 series scope. The Rigol is absolutely better built, but the Keysight beats it hands down in ergonomics and user interface. Plus it has 4 channels instead of 2. The PLASTICS on the Keysight are utter trash. If I hadn't gotten it nearly free, I would NEVER pay their premium for this joke of a construction. The old HP/Agilent scopes were WAY better built.

    Got one and yes it is a very nice device for the money. It looks big on video but in reality it is tiny with a big screen. The noise from the fan is horrible, so loud, nearly unacceptable. The keyboard layout is ugly but I found myself never using it so it doesn't really bother. The remote control works well. It's a pity that they did not succeed in implementing a decent AWG, early versions had it but it is not working well. As mentioned in the video all models can very easily be 'enhanced' to the highest of the 900pro models.

    • @jaro6985
      @jaro6985 7 дней назад

      Yeah unplug the stock fan and put a big one on the back is a must.
      No the enhancement is not easy.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog 7 дней назад +1

      Similarly priced models suffer from the same AWG limitations, however in this price range and considering the types of applications that I encounter both in hobby and work projects that doesn't really affect me.. especially given the compressive built-in arb function list. It can do pretty much everything you will ever need 99% of the time.

  • @jaro6985
    @jaro6985 7 дней назад

    The fan is thermally controlled but they screwed up the circuit to power it. Better off just replacing the fan with a quieter one.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog 7 дней назад

      That's nearly impossible to do (neatly) because it is a custom design heatsink/fan assembly, really hard to find one that would fit and still provide adequate cooling with lower noise.

    625MS/s but only 25Mhz bandwidth? what a waste.
    at least you could program a arb sine with multiple cycles into it to multiply the set frequency.
    this way i doubled my FY6800 cheapo from 60 to 120mhz (realistically up to 100..110mhz).
    it only has 250MS/s so only a sine at that frequency but its enough to modulate a tone onto it for fm radio reception.

    • @voltlog

      Ok but as you noticed with your lower spec cheapo, in many hobby applications, these specs are good enough.
