A very immature and violent man. What an idiot! He can't retaliate against his father for murder and suicide, so he settles upon the con man who had cheated the family. Sawyer better hope and pray that he doesn't meet the same fate as Anthony Cooper, considering the number of people he has conned.
@Rosamund Powell It isn't a GOOD action. But Anthony Cooper brought misery to everyone he came in contact with his entire "career" as a con man. He was responsible for Sawyer's parents deaths, crippled his own son and was completely remorseless about both. If your view of morality is so limited that you only see things in black and white terms, there are a lot of shows aimed at adults that you'll struggle with.
It's one of those storylines where the conclusion could have been disappointing because of how predictable the reveal is. But the Sawyer/Cooper showdown is peak LOST and one of the shows best scenes.
Today, as a 25 year old person, I can say that the best shows I've watched are Sopranos and Twin Peaks. But LOST was the first show that I fell in love with back when I was a kid and it will always have that unique and special place in my heart. That said, I just wanted to say that I've been following your weekly discussions about LOST and I just feel so satisfied that people are still talking about it almost 20 years later and that it has the attention it deserves. Thank you guys! Sorry for any english misuse, I'm from Brazil.
the next three episodes (or four, if you count the finale as two) are probably the best of the whole series and i cannot wait for rick to see them. LET'S GO.
Rick asked what the difference between killing ur dad and letting him die is.. i mean surely you said that wrong? the obvious thing is you would have to actually touch your father and drain the life out of him while looking at him. But the other u can just go on with ur day and u dont have to see it.
11:01 you're missing a lot here with this statement. You can have the worst trauma and have suffered the worst abuse from "family" and still want them genuinely dead. But it is another thing entirely to take someone's life yourself. ESPECIALLY when it's "family." There's always something there that lingers and connects you. I say this as a CSA survivor at the hands of "family."
Josh Halloway's from Georgia so that southern twang is AAAAAAALL his. Only he's a much friendlier guy than Sawyer. I saw him at a LOST music concert, there to read some spoken word while music played and hang out with old castmates. I could tell from the 20th row that he was having a jolly old drunk time. Check him out on Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. I haven't yet, but plan to at some point.
Josh Holloway is originally from GA and his accent in the show is essentially his same accent from growing up. When they were filming the Pilot, he was trying out different manners of speaking for Sawyer and JJ pulled him aside to chat about what feels natural to him. He suggested going with the southern accent, and thus Sawyer's accent was born. It's one of the very cool things about this show - there are definitely pieces of each actor within the character they play in some very real ways. Evie, for example, spent a solid 2 years of her life as essentially a nomad, moving every six months, using different names, etc. There are stories like that all over the cast. Did you know that the actor who plays Rose actually lost her husband IRL to cancer? She literally lived the story her character did, but on the flip side. Heartbreaking but was really powerful for her as a person to be able to put it on screen.
This episode simultaneously tells us that the outside world found the plane and everyone was dead AND "Anthony Cooper" claims this is hell. Both things are essentially implying they are all dead and this is hell. The writers were really going hard on making that theory believable. lol
John can’t kill his father, but can ask someone else to fo it. Makes sense. How many people could never bring themselves to butcher animals, but have others do it FOR them. Killing ones father has to be harder than slaughtering a chicken.
What's the difference? It's the same as eating a steak VS slaughtering a cow yourself. Most people find the physical act of killing daunting, in and of itself.
First entire episode i ever saw. Started binging from the beginning and fell in love with the show during season 2. I remembered my mom watching a show in a room with a clock or something and it turned out to be this show. Underrated opinion but loved having Michelle Rodriguez in season 2 since im a huge fan of her, sadly she was killed of way to soon (in my opinion). Feel like they could have done so much more with such a big action star. Loved it all the way through, season 6 was kind of not good but this show in my opinion is the best thing tv has ever created. Love watching you guys react to it. BTW: recently i watched another show with Josh Holloway in it called Colony. It only has 3 seasons and i only liked the third season but maybe you guys can give it a try. It's Sci-Fi!
Late Season Three is a very strong period for the series. But I hate this episode. I hate that once again, Sawyer resorted to violence or underhanded means to deal with his pain or his anger. HIs father was the one who had committed both murder and suicide, leaving him an orphan. The worst thing Anthony Cooper had done to Sawyer was cheat his parents. The Ford family could have recovered from that - with Sawyer's parents getting a divorce. But Mr. Ford had stepped up to kill his wife and commit suicide. He was the real destroyer of that family. But since he was dead, the eight year-old Sawyer had decided to solely blame Cooper and spent 28 years nursing a grudge. How pathetic. A grudge that led him to murder two men - one by accident - in cold blood. And fans think that was cool? I guess that in the end, human beings are basically fucked up.
He pushed a man out a window. Who knows what else he's done. He deserved worse. Sawyer gained points for this in my book. Locke's father is the fucked up one.
This was a disgusting episode that revealed how truly pathetic and ugly human beings are. And I'm not just talking about Locke's willingness to manipulate Sawyer into committing murder for him, but also Sawyer's willingness to kill for the sake of revenge. But I'm especially disgusted by the gleeful responses to this episode.

Rick predicted that Anthony Cooper was the real Sawyer all the way back in 1x19 "Deus Ex Machina". Good work, Rick!
Sawyer saying, "Sawyer's my name too" is one of my favourite lines in this whole show.

@@jamesnorris5607 if you think Sawyer is the bad guy here, you need to rewatch Lost. Or rethink in general.
It's the line of "Nah...you killed my daddy" that gives me chills

Props to Rick for calling Locke's father being the actual Mr. Sawyer way back late in Season 1.
Such a satisfying conclusion to the 'Tom Sawyer' story arc.
It's one of those storylines where the conclusion could have been disappointing because of how predictable the reveal is. But the Sawyer/Cooper showdown is peak LOST and one of the shows best scenes.
Yaaaaaas this episode!! Been waiting for this. Especially since Rick said he wanted John's dad to meet Sawyer and Eric was like 👀👀👀👀
Thanks Sawyer for handling my dirty laundry.

Lost is often at its best when it's just 2 people alone talking.
15:02 He's biting the demons! - made me laugh so hard. I don't know why but that was incredibly funny to me.
You brought the kids for the execution? "There's is no tv in the island.." 😂

An absolute classic
John has the most tragic and heartbreaking story from beginning to end. Easily the best character.
Thank you
Debatable lol

Y'all should check out that TV show White collar.. I don't know if y'all have or not but it's worth it.
And finally there's a good Sawyer scene.

James did the world a favor, ridding it of that man. And gave closure to him and John both.
