No -.- it's just like turning your head to talk to someone, most people who drive stick keep their right or left (depending on country) hand on the gearstick, if he's driving automatic then thats fine. When you're texting, your eyes are mostly stuck to your phone screen, alot longer than turning an talking to someone briefly in a car.
