    Hey Johnny B.. If u are out there..... The oud playing in the first song is bringing me tremendous joy, each time I listen to this. This entire video is just pure joy to listen to.. Mal on the clarinet.. the entire band.. I've watched it at least 10x.. The best!!

    The first time I heard this music was in the Egyptian Gardens Cafe,on 29th street and 8th ave in New York City in 1962 I thought I died and went Heaven ,have loved it ever since.

    im Turk...it is an Ottoman music..it means turkish ,greek ,arap and armanian music.because all of us were Ottoman Empires citizens...now i d like to listen it from same group on a turkish radio.

    @CO48 Hi Cem !! Yeah , Mal Barsamián ....amán, that man it's a whoooolllleeeeee case .
    I guess Souren Baronian and him are the best , even we have many many good ones , of course.
    Mal is so deeply Armenian to play, you know, he take with him the ancient roots in his sounds.....I am glad you like it :-))

    first part is not armenian persian medley its an unnamed piece usually entitled oud fantasy or oud solo which john has recorded at least three times one of his signature pieces i would say

    Hi, and thanks for the reply.
    I have several different versions of this song (on John's albums), but I'm just not finding this *specific* session (off the soundboard in this studio, on this day).
    If you happen to have any more clues, I'd greatly appreciate it!

    sorry but i have to say the best is and always will be KHACHIG who mal himself said he emulated....im sure you know khachig (hachig kazarian) he plays with richard hagopian on the "kef time" albums.
