In case anyone is curious, I've hashed out the timeline in celebration of the release of Dread. If anyone is curious, I have multiple discussions on this I can copy/paste the sources used, but to keep things simple and short since it has been a long work week so far I'm just posting the bullet points:
* 2055 Samus Aran is born to Rodney and Virginia Aran on 2K-L.
* 2058 Space Pirates attack and annihilate the Federation colony on 2K-L.
* Samus is rescued by the Chozo lovingly nicknamed Old Bird and taken to Zebes.
* Samus is genetically modified with DNA from two tribes of Chozo so she can adapt to life on Zebes.
* 2071 Samus leaves Zebes to join the Federation at 16 years old.
* Samus leaves the Federation to freelance as a bounty hunter.
* 2075 Samus takes on her first bounty hunter job in Metroid Zero Mission. Samus is 20 years old.
* 2076 Metroid Prime
* Metroid Prime Hunters
* 2077 Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
* 2078 Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
* Federation Force
* 2079 Metroid Prime 4 will take place here.
* 2079 Metroid 2/Samus Returns. It has been a busy four years for Samus.
* Metroid Other M. Keep in mind many of the dates referenced in Other M of other adventures are incorrect or contradictory.
* 2081 Metroid Fusion. Samus is canonically 26 years old at this point.
* Metroid Dread. We do not know the official time skip between Fusion and Dread at the moment. Using the rest of the franchise as an example, it is likely 1 to 2 years.
