Jane is transformed into Korean, not Chinese. Anna is transformed into Inuit, not Italian. Rapunzel is transformed into Mexican, not Spanish. And Tiana is transformed into Chinese, not Japanese. Esmaralda is originally Romani (gypsy), not Romanian. Just these mistakes. The others are pretty good. Edit a year later: If I get stuff wrong sorry guys, I'm not an expert at this though I'm extremely interested in cultures and stuff, so feel free to correct me. I'm Chinese myself, so if anyone's confused, yes, I can confirm that Tiana is transformed into Chinese. In the source material she's wearing a traditional Chinese dress called cheongsam/qipao. You can see from the collar of her dress. Traditionally, it is a one-piece body-hugging dress for women in China. In Japan, traditionally, women wear kimonos, like the one on the transformed Cinderella. As for Jane, she's wearing a traditional Korean hanbok. I understand that people may get a little mixed-up cause genetic wise, East Asians look quite similar to each other and the source material may not have shown huge differences among the princesses who are transformed into East Asians (except for the makeup).
Me to, and honesty I love the original but I also love the new ways that they credit the princesses. Either way the original and the new styles are amazing.
All these transformations are gorgeous. But the originals make up our memories of watching the movies in childhood and therefore are most beautiful for me.
All I got to say is Anna looks more like an Inuit or Tlingit or Northern Athabaskan culture...her coat and gloves appear to be made of reindeer hide, I just don't get Italian from that drawing.
I think it's about time for Disney to introduce new princesses coming from different cultural heritage. Would love to see Japanese, Korean, Filipina, African, and Indian Disney princesses.

It's a fun idea, but i wouldn't like for them to change for example european fairy tale characters into something completely different. The stories are very old, and although disney changed them, they should stay how they were originally thought of. I'd rather see some real african, indian, middle eastern or south american fairy tales made into disney movies. That way it doesn't feel off and we would get to see something authentic. As art, it is a nice idea though.
Blue Beard would be an awesome Disney Story with a princess included, or 1000 nights would be lovely. Agreed non- European stories should be represented instead of this anti- european/white movement involving European stories. There are some epic non-european stories with strong women that have been ignored.
Europeans just don’t want to see their princesses changed to a brown skinned person. That’s all. There’s nothing else to read more into it about. They don’t want their fake cartoon princess to be brown. Lol
Its because its fun. You'll get to see a whole new perspective of princesses' personalities and that we are all the same no matter the skin colors are. And the point that "savages" can be of different races. It would paralyze the racial argument that black-skinned people are "always" the violent ones(just one of the arguments we get to see in a whole different perspective). :)
Yes I thought she looked much better, her face is too square and her nose is too small in the original, the rework gave her a lovely slightly bigger nose and rounder face, and larger eyes, however she looked less brave and fierce, and more like a dark skinned Kate Bush or something gorgeous!
What's even more interesting about this video though is how america, the biggest europhobic nation once again prove to me that they don't know much about the continent of europe. But they sure love talking about it. Why is it that whenever a character with olive skin and darker features appears in american animated films or shows they always have to be latin american (which is not even a race), or middle eastern, or north african? It's kinda weird and also proves something about america. How come even the greek female character in hercules (megara) looks like a nordic white woman? Have you americans ever seen a greek person in your lives? Have you americans ever seen a person from any racially turkic mixed nation of the balkan region? North african mixed italy, spain? turkic and mongolian mixed russia? Frozen 2 were kind enough to show the sami people of norway. Even though they don't do much in the film. I think it's literally only america the capital of racism that imagine all europeans and european nations as a bunch of white people with british accents who stole land and people. Hard to imagine that there are people that think like this about not a country but an entire continent of different separate nations, cultures and ethnic groups.
ʕ•ܫ•ʔ yes you’re right. That’s why most Latinos are jealous of us because EVERYTHING is directed to Mexicans only. Even on TV people from other countries have to loose their accent and speak the neutral Spanish accent (which is spoken in Mexico ) 🇲🇽

The Scottish accent isn't an English accent. England and Scotland are two completely different countries but they both come under the United Kingdom (UK) as well as Wales and Northern Ireland
Rapunzel's side by side picture, she gets a lovely Spanish makeover with black hair and floral dress, keeping her classic character art, and very pretty
These transformations weren’t just minor changes, they just made the characters into totally different people. For me I could barely find a resemblance with the new characters.
