    Great video. It helped me in understanding some of the missing concept regarding drug channel interactions, patch clamp, planar patch for my Medical Biophysics paper of PhD first semester course work. I really appreciate your work.

      Could you please help me by sharing my contents with your friends group/ college group. I put huge efforts in making these videos but unfortunately not a lot of people are watching this.

    Around 4:05 you say that as resistance increases and current stays equal, voltage will decrease. However according to Ohms law, voltage INCREASES with resistance at equal current.

    Ignore the dogs barking, it is very good video. This comment is coming from the ignorance but curious older dog who did not have privilege in education when he is young. ......... Naaah, I just chose warrior path over scholar one (honor and loyalty over philosophy and logic).

    Thanks. How do we differentiate between the type of channel (sodium or calcium ) based on current? Secondly when we are using a whole-cell patch-clamp where is drug solution added?

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan
      @animatedbiologywitharpan  2 года назад

      Good question , I will answer this in a video. The IV curve for sodium vs potassium channels are different,you can get some sense in this video ruclips.net/video/7Zs8y9yr3ek/видео.html

    What is meant by negative current? Are the electrons flowing in opposite direction? If yes, then how is this possible?

    • @paulmertens5522
      @paulmertens5522 3 года назад

      Electrons can flow in any direction, depending on the sign of the voltage. Negative voltage > negative current, positive voltage > positive current.

    My qs is what exactly do one study in an inside-out patch? I mean it is exposed to the environment. So there won't be any flow of ions.

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan
      @animatedbiologywitharpan  2 года назад

      The inside-out patch configuration permits the recording of single channels and bath perfusion of the cytoplasmic face of the membrane.

      @animatedbiologywitharpan  2 года назад +1

      I will make a separate video on this

    Thank you very much for your short breefing. Gives a nice overview!
    One little Question:
    Out from which book are the figures? Or can you recommend a good book or paper about the elektrophysiological parameters and so on...?

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan
      @animatedbiologywitharpan  5 лет назад +1

      all the figures are imaginary and made by me but the concept is based on several books
      a good way to start reading about it is:
      Purves neuroscience 5th edition
      level 2: Principles of Neural Science Eric Kandel
      level3: ion channels of the excitable membranes
