I'm a Eureka member and that alone has changed my game tremendously with power and consistency however I ALWAYS struggled getting the proper backswing and fighting it. This video was the Ah Ha moment I was looking for. I am a 7.3 hdcp and went out today and shot 71. Steve truly thank you. This simple backswing tip has changed my golfing life for good.

Mega gratitude Steve...Went to the course today and totally ripped some drives... totally blitzed some irons... I don't think I have EVER hit a golf ball so well... and EFFORTLESSLY...your backswing drill and your two finger right hand drill totally made sense, and made a mega difference... I bow down to your incredibleness...🙏🙏🙏🙏😌😌

brilliant, this...your videos have really helped my game but where i break down, i believe, is that my backswing gets "loose" and doesn't repeat...stumbled onto this video after a bad night at the range last night and the timing of seeing this is perfect...what you do better than ANY golf instructor i've ever seen is you make key elements of the game understandable, and simple...that is NOT easy to do so give yourself some credit while you accept my "thank you!"...

THANK YOU STEVE! After ‘subscribing’ to other instructors for a long while , I have found your golf videos.
Your messages are always ‘Amazing’ - simple... and easy to incorporate properly. There are a lot of good instructors but only a few who can break it down into bite size pieces that actually work, once it is all put together. I know the importance of drills to build body memory.
I will highly recommend your videos and messages to my golf buddies! Thanks again! Dwayne, BC, Canada!

Awesome video and explanation of the back swing!! Best I've ever seen or heard. And it worked wonderfully right away!! So much easier to hit sweet spot and consistent baby draws! This will get 100,000++ hits. Especially for those of us trying to get "width" in the back swing which is super easy to overdue or misinterpret like I have been doing. At the end of my practice I hit 5 pitching wedges in a row all within 1 yard of each other!!!! Crazy

Hi Steve, Just read your article in bunkered magazine, honest as always and full of interesting insight. I followed your u tube regularly as you demonstrate while giving instruction, no waffle all good information and with that my game has improved and I’m enjoying the results. I’ve been trying the “Eureka” set up with some success, sometimes I fee a little pressure on my back while trying to keep shoulders square to target, other than that it works, probably my age. 🥴

    Right knee - argh!
We were always taught not to straighten the right leg (causing a reverse pivot) and consequently was always maybe, at least in my head, bending the knee the 'wrong' way or getting too far behind the ball (aka sway). Changing the swing now has reduced the little sway away from the hole but it's a strange feeling almost the opposite of years of being ingrained the other way - weight almost feels left to right!
The result is I'm staying more central over the ball and consequently getting more consistent strike. I can also move the ball slightly further back in my stance. Honestly, I'm getting slightly less distance on the extreme best previous compared to consistency and straighter - take that every day!!!
    Right WE ARE ON!!!
Thankyou Steve - moving in the right direction!

I was trying one piece takeaway. Moved to "roll the forearms takeaway" and tucking shirt under right armpit. What a difference. I'm 56, one piece takeaway ala Tiger Woods and hinging wrist at top of swing is too hard for me. Can do it at range but not on course. Always come over top for some reason. Do a justin thomas rickie fowler preset drill to ensure face and club shaft is square. Really helps out! Also tried the Nick Faldo swing by hinging wrist right off the ball in takeaway. No success with that one. This type of swing is not used by many on pga tour. Basically there's 3 types of swings on tour. For older golfers, rolling forearms off the ball, then hinging wrist is best swing. Also for an easier turn, line up a bit closed to ball if required ( feet, shoulders and club face). Driver swing, make sure shoulders are angled back and swing up at ball. With low irons, hands a bit forward on ball to get compression and spin ( more weight towards the front). Don't do that with 5 iron; shaft should be square and not forward). Want ball to roll out. That's the 2cents. Took me all summer to try this all out. Sucks lol Wish I could have found my swing earlier in season. One last thing, make sure you have proper grip before anything else. A poor grip will ruin a golf swing. Never see any improvement. always start with a good grip.

I liked this I have been working on the back swing, feel good about my arm structure but some of the lower body ideas are clicking. You mentioned something that has plagued me for years. You quickly said something about blacking out in the downswing. That one thing has crippled my golf game I can go to the range and look like a pro go through every club in the bag and hit them all. Taking it to the course is another thing I definitely have that issue of blacking out on the downswing. I get to the top my mind goes blank and I’m through the ball and feeling a bad follow through. Is there something you could talk about in a video to work on this? PLEASE!!!!

Thank you. keep it up, I'm thrilled.

Hi Steve your four part backswing melding into one is excellent; however you forgot to mention the fact that our trail forearm must rotates clockwise right as do every muscle inside our body assist in coiling our body clockwise turning the head of our club clockwise right as well. (Right Handed players)
Now what absolutely needs to take place at the top of every great golfers backswing: whether a golfer’s becomes aware of it or not; is what Steve Elkington year’s ago named ‘ the twirl’. He never has freely explained how he does the twirl. So I will attempt to demystify it and explain it myself
Whether you or any good golfer ever becomes aware of it or not it; chaos happens and multiple mistakes can take place especially the dreaded over the top swing when a player is actually making the head of their club turn counterclockwise at the top of their swing along with the shifting and turning of their body counterclockwise
Think about this: Ben Hogan correctly said that the downswing must start with the lower body turning left. Not the hands or arms.
Ben Hogan also describes the mechanics of the top of his swing; stating that with fulcrum (hands) both hands and wrists needs to work together at the top of the swing when the center of gravity is shifting from the point of the shaft to his club head making it feel heaviest at the top of his swing. This is the exact point where the clockwise twirling of the club must take place. Hogan further wrote that his downswing felt like when an infielder throws an half sidearm, half underhand to first after fielding a ground ball. Others may feel a skipping of a stone on the water at the top of their swing; others my feel themselves whipping their club through their ball; but whatever you feel; it is actually the head of the your club repelling you, twirling right as you suddenly turn your body left. Cheers

      @MarkWinkler-tx2if Год назад

I believe your way off target, tuck your elbow like he illustrated, don’t do anything but let the shoulder turn rotate the right arm and hand., there is no rotation of the arms, it happens naturally, less chaos .
