The lotus pond looks totally different from my memory. But I always grateful for the water from the pond. During the war in the 1970 to 1975 when kampot was surrounded by Khmer Rouge and when the river water turn salty. Lotus Pond water was the life saver. It’s appropriate to have the status of Haraman and the mermaid.

Lotus pond used to be surrounded by City Hall,Main Court House ( Kampot used to have two court houses)， prison cell, Army base,and the Governor’s palace 。

How come you miss the Sala Kat, the Gavernor’s palace. It had the best basketball court in town and always welcome us the kids to play there .
