In 2018, when BTS broke out with "Fake love", haters said that the group was too Americanized, at the time they were attacking them from all sides.Rm using filters during a live, they told him not to use it. Just like they also said the same about the Tae/V only glasses. This song is for these people, for those who say they are not artists, for the haters. And of course, always talking about self-love. Idol is an anthem.

@@LPnerd I agree that there are many reactors who are problematic. I am very wary of reactors ...and he may end up being one of the problem ones. But from the videos I watched so far, I thought he was at least willing. And as a very dyed in the wool ARMY I have to agree to disagree...I actually don't think negativity does us or the guys any good. I choose to just disengage. Remove our power. Negativity only comes back to bite us :)

IDOL was an answer to the haters who said that they were becoming westernized and used a lot of CGI. SO they used all the cultural references and said that they did not care how the haters categorized them. That they love themselves as they are with all the aspects.

Jimin attracts everyone with his dance and singing .. a real superman
Idol is not Just any usual kind of song..its very Korean traditional culture inspired...the mv had lots of symbolisms and .the soundtrack has traditional instrument.. And this live version , they added more traditional element and made it epic...best live version ever..
Well.. the one on the Jimmy Fallon is also pretty good as it is in front of the Gyeongbokgung Palace - an important national monument.
Theres no grup could do stage presence like BTS, and thats the reason BTS has a lot of army and super successful, theyre not just a boyband, theyre a performer

You should definitely watch BTS's other live performances. BTS has the biggest productions when it comes to live performances. Especially their MMA 2019 performance was great.
I highly recommend the MMA 2019 performance of BTS. That was a loooooong performance but I'm telling you, it's worth it. 💜
BTS live is a whole other level. This is actually there 2018 performance, they weren't at the 2021 show. Jimin was recognized for his traditional fan dance for raising awareness from the cultural conservative society. You should watch their 2019 performance, it is mesmerizing. Jimin's solo dance is gorgeous.
Jimin's vocals! So beautiful and unique. His stage presence, the way he flirts with the camera, and his dancing, is why he is my bias. Plus his kind and caring personality.
seriously check out more live performances. The energy they get from ARMY kicks it up to 11! I saw them in Las Vegas and saw Suga/Agust D in Oakland. I can't wait for 2025 when they are all back together!

It's a Korean Cultural references eg dance moves, traditional clothes, drum beats, masks mythology eg the yellow shaggy things are the Korean Lion. As the song Idol is complete diss track to all the different haters those who think thing are mindless 'Idol's who simply sing and dance what they are told to sing and dance, the haters who said they'd become too westernised. You call Artist, you call me Idol I don't care you ain't going stop me loving myself. It's about self love learning to accept and love yourself before you can do that to others. So you have the diss track and the 'love yourself' all rolled into one song. The MV had even more reference's to both side's of what the song was saying but unless you know what it's about and know the reference's you never understand the MV so don't worry.

The choreography incorporated African dances including “The Gwara Gwara” dance made popular by Rihanna here in the USA…

Cracks me up that this is NOT a CONCERT. It’s an AWARDS SHOW!! They performed several songs too, not just Idol.
A MUST watch is their full performance at the 2019 MMA, it’s over 35 mins. You will be shocked at the stage production even more so than this one.
It was one of things that made me Army, the heart and effort they put into an award show. They pay for it all themselves even, not the show. It’s not even a comparison to American award show performances. You’ll see 😜💜
I remember when everyone that was there was talking about how much the place shook with the amount of energy put into the performance and ARMY, truly an iconic performance. And it’s not even talking about the MMA 2019 performance that all of us are always raving about! 💜

If you never watched BTS LIVE, you can't know BTS. BTS LIVE is in another stratosphere. Where else can you see, hear feel the vibes, ENERGY, unique personalities and talents and the AD LIBS that literally make you scream at 2:00 in the morning. if you have any fav BTS song go listen to the live version, it doesn't play it 💥 explodes with energy💜

You will not get the same satisfaction w/ other live performances anymore once u get a taste of how BTS performs live. They give it their all everytime.
This was part of mma 2018(an award show) . MMA 2019 performance is mind blowing . Hope you give it a try some day . Or watch it your self snd tell as how it was .
BTS is THE hardest working group in the world. They always try to present something new in each performance, especially in award shows. In this MMA 2018 (not 2021) they changed the instrumentation to Idol, maybe that's why you liked this one better. I saw someone recommending Idol live at their Japan concert. That version is also super good.
IDOL won awards. you can't get idol without the history and the explanation video. I've legit never heard anyone say they didn't like Idol. It lacked creativity??? I will say it wasn't the best one to watch first. also BTS Lyrics are extremely important. Turn on the CC. That was a awards show.
Yeah, the fact that he didn't understand it shouldn't equal that it "lacks creativity". It's probably one of their most meaningful and creative MV, haha. However, he does have a habit of saying stuff without knowledge and when proven wrong he just avoids the matter or just side-steps it without actually saying that he was wrong sooo 🤷♂️

BTS concerts are so much fun. They even have like an inflatable castle that they just play around when they sing Anpanman, it’s so fun 💜💜
Jungkook, the lead vocalist, said he would practice singing while running on a treadmill in order to train himself to sing with a stable voice when singing while dancing. They used to practice 16 hours a day. Great stamina.

The lyrics to Idol and the meaning behind them and what inspired them are great too. The deep meanings behind many of their songs is one reason they connect with ARMY.
This performance is actually in an awards show and whats so great about it is that they showcased korean cultural dances and costumes in the performance. If this is your first stage performance viewing of BTS, try searching for their other awards show performances through the years like melon music awards, mama awards... they are all AMAZING. They have a habit of turning awards shows into their own mini concert. 😊
They are so good they used to get accused of lipsyncing so the member would prove otherwise by suddenly stop singing remove the mic's away and stand still and all you'd here would be the music. You can hear their mic's are live as you can hear them take in quick intakes of breath to sing while still dancing. You'll hear if someone hits a bad note if someone's voice breaks. You'll hear adlibs and different harmonies put in that aren't normally there because a member doesn't think they are going to hit a note because they don't have the air left or need water.
Our BTS guys are amazing! This was an awards show and if you want to see one even better, watch the 2019 MMA (the whole performance). It's the best live performance ever!

This is a major award show where they won a large number of awards and were given a huge amount of stage time this is only part of their set. BTS turn award shows into their personal Concerts. Concerts are even bigger that's why they sell out the biggest stadium in the world in under an hour of tickets going on sale and they offer tickets to the fan base first you are highly unlikely to get a ticket to a BTS stadium concert as a Member of the Public. They will have a live band on stage and sometime's a member will play an instrusement on stage with the live band as they sing.
I’m so glad he was willing to try Idol again in a different form. The fact that he thought the Idol MV was weird is one of the bigger overall themes for the song.💜

Ive been to BTS concerts from 2018-2022. The largest capacity concert i attended was Soldier Field Chicago with 73K people. Trust me when i say, attending a BTS concert is like no other. the production, the energy, not just from them but Army as well is other worldly. They sell out 100k capacity venues in minutes. So good luck if you ever want to attend a BTS concert. Buying tickets is not for the faint of heart.
Can't believe I only saw a single suggestion of this when I scrolled the comments: watch the 2019 MMA performance. Award shows almost never give their performing artists more than 20 minutes, and that's for the BIG Acts. But BTS got a solid 40-minute performance. In an AWARD SHOW. It also shows so, so much of their artistic creativity, stage presence and power, and overall the effort they put into every single thing. It's one group out of many in a full award show but they really made that stage THEIRS. Their actual concerts are all that and so, so much more.
There is an explanation video for Idol. You can watch it if you want to understand the music video more. There are so many cultural references in mv so sometimes its hard to understand.
I'm sure a lot of people had commented about it, but from what I understand, they were getting a lot of backlash for "selling out" and becoming too American/Westernized. So the Idol music video uses a lot of cultural elements in it along with the lyrics like "you can't stop me loving myself" and "point fingers, I don't care" as a kind of pushback. This stage is wild but uses a lot of visuals and dance of cultural significance that it's just amazing to watch.

The reason you didn't like the Idol MV was because it was loaded with Korean cultural references! I suggest you watch DKDKTV Idol explained. I think after watching this you'll have a better understanding of the MV and see just how creative it really was!

Idol is one of the songs that needs a deep dive into Korean culture to understand. I would recommend watching an explanation of the song & video.

BTS performing any of their songs hits WAAAAAAAAAY differently. Although I think that's true of almost all music, I would say BTS are not only musicians, but all rounders as far as performers, crowd work, visual artistry, etc.
