    This movie is absolutely phenomenal. Jake and Hugh both where robbed of Oscars.

      The Academy seems to hate them for some reason. The fact that neither of them have ever won an Oscar and they both were nominated only for one film (Brokeback Mountain / Les Miserables) is absolutely insane. Gyllenhaal not even being nominated for Nightcrawler is still the worst decision the Academy has ever made, in my opinion. One of the top 5 acting performances I have seen in my life.

    Vigilantism is quite dangerous because they are not privy to all the information. Tortured a damaged individual. Tough spot to be in. Kids were found so i guess from that perspective, it was worth any time incarcertated.

    Keller kept his faith but it did turn him into a monster. So in a way Holly did succeed. The others who lost their children prior probably broke as well. I can’t imagine recovering from losing a child to abduction

      To clarify he didnt kill the animal, just was reckless and sadistic with it. (Or unaware that what he was doing was actually causing pain) And yes, that scene is put there to pit you up against Alex, and make you complicate with Hugh Jackman's character.

    This movie is mentally exhausting. It's incredible but it's just a tough, tough watch. All these things that seem possibly, ever so slightly linked are introduced and by the end they're all very clearly and directly connected. And the ambiguous ending with regards to Keller being found doesn't allow you to fully relax when it's over.

    I know what Barry did to the dog was unacceptable but you have to realize that he is a very very sick person. At a young age when his brain was developing he was constantly fed the ketamine cocktail which stunted his brain's growth and is what causes him to be the way he is. The surviving victims are all suffering from not only severe trauma affecting their psyche, but the actual chemical effects of the drugs they were forced to induce.

    • @Ryan-ju4pn
      @Ryan-ju4pn 5 месяцев назад +1

      Barry's mind is warped and that would be taken into account when he's given a prison sentence, but he's an adult and has to answer for his actions. He kidnapped the little girls and he knew where they were the whole time. Even someone with a diminished IQ needs to answer for their role in that. How low his IQ really is is questionable, being how he can operate a large motor vehicle on the city streets. There's also a likelihood that Barry was an adult and present in that household when some of the 16 children were murdered. That carries adult consequences.

    • @NickSquirt
      @NickSquirt 5 месяцев назад

      @@Ryan-ju4pn youre wrong about most of this. Barry’s IQ is tested and proven. It is that of a very young child. And as far as the kidnapping the actial culprit says “He never laid a finger on those girls.”

    This was such a hard watch not the movie itself as it's actors that are doing a fine job of telling the story but it is the emotion that you had that brought me to tears seeing you pour you heart out really affected me and even though I am a man and not meant to cry I am freely admitting that this brought real tears . This is why your reactions are so special and beautiful . Thank you so much for just being yourself Jade

    Wow, Hugh Jackman is just extraordinary in this movie! Plus, I was right with you concerning the guy strangling his dog. I don't think you normally see deliberate animal abuse in a movie, but it's the one thing I absolutely cannot handle. I've been rehabilitating abused and neglected dogs for years and it's just disgusting what people will do, so even seeing a fake version of it in a movie really gets to me. OK then, take care Jade and have a great weekend. Cheers!
