Usually I hate when a character dies just to be brought back immediately, but I love how it was done here. The opening scene following Dean and being just as confused as him just works so well. This is my favourite season premiere, and I think my favourite season in general (though it's a tough call between this and next season). ALSO our baby in a trench coat has arrived!!!!

Castiel has the best entrance but Dean’s reunion with Bobby and Sam made me teary eyed, especially if you had to wait months for this premiere

I still get chills when our boy makes his grand entrance. The angel, the myth, the legend ✨Castiel✨ This episode is just epic. Bobby makes me cry every single time I see him hug Dean and realize his boy is really alive. Also, the first appearance of Genevieve Padalecki, now wife and baby mama of Jared😂
Lots of people don’t like her in this show but I think it’s cute they met on the show. This season is so good. I’m so happy 😊
it doesn't matter how many times I watch it, Castiel's entrance gives me chills every time. S4 is crazy, I'm so excited for the rest!

@THESPACEMANshorts - Since he just posted the video like an hour ago I can answer lol. My favorite intro is Death's. Rolling up in a white 1959 Cadillac while "O Death" plays was just so badass. He didn't show any of it in his reaction though, probably due to copyright cause of the song. Or he didn't find it as awesome as I did lol.

Some fun facts:
Eric Kripke was trying to conceal from the fans that they were introducing an angel to the show, so they sent out the audition material as a demon. Misha Collins who plays Castiel was initially auditioned for a demon. He said in an interview “I played the demon kind of nasty, kind of snarky, a little sarcastic, and Eric Kripke said: Great. That was a really good demon, but the truth is this role is for an angel.” Eric Kripke gave him some adjustments and he repeated the audition as an angel.
About how Eric Kripke came up with the name Castile. He stated on Twitter “We were airing on Thursday & needed a new character name. I googled Angel of Thursday (for luck): got Castiel.” However, "Castiel" is not the name of any angel in angelology and may be a variant of "Cassiel," who in angelology is the angel of Saturday, not Thursday.
The actress who plays the new Ruby, Genevieve Cortese, is Jared Padalecki’s wife. They met and fall in love on the set of Supernatural, they got married in 2010 and they have 3 kids.

Lazuras is a reference to how Jesus brought back to life a guy named Lazarus after 3 days. That's where they get the name Lazarus Put in DC too. Also, season 4 and 5 are peak Supernatural and I'm glad Castiel has finally been introduced too.

One of my favourite episodes of Supernatural! I was initially annoyed that Dean was back straight away, but the mystery of why and how, and the reveal, changed my mind. I love how they made angels terrifying without really showing anything! And the cinematography is great, with so many iconic shots. The introduction of Castiel is one of the best character introductions in the show I think, and introducing angels made me very curious about where this season was going.
Well, the comments do not disappoint! I was checking to see if everybody was excited for you to see this season as I am. Apparently so!

after worrying about Dean in Hell all summer this episode floored me! Loved it. That brother hug we had been waiting for did not disappoint. Love Bobby! & Pam! Jensen and his facial acting still amazes me.

The name Lazarus comes from the Bible - where Jesus resurrected someone named Lazarus. This was supposedly Jesus’ last resurrection before he was crucified. In today’s lexicon, Lazarus is being used as essentially someone who has been resurrected. Also - Yayyy Castiel! And what intrigue. Best two season arc starts now. That last line that from Castiel “Because god commanded it. Because we have work for you” always gives me chills.
Right, I just prefer the Lazarus Pit from DC more. That last line was fire

I love this episode so much. That first scene of Dean watching Castiel killing his way through the demons to get to Dean is incredible! It's a pity Dean doesn't seem to remember it.
Everything connects. Even stuff that seems like a one off or wasn't dive in to enough. It all comes back. GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW

Iconic episode with an iconic character. Here’s where the show starts to get really good. Good catch on the name, I didn’t think that much about it when I watched this episode so it was a pure surprise for me. 😄

One I will never forget is a cartoon strip of the outside of the barn when Castiel lands.. trips.. tumbles and falls off the roof and has to straighten himself out before going in all bad ass like that.
I saw the meme before seeing the episode so.. it kinda took the thunder out a little for me.

Okay so this is coming from someone who watched this show from the pilot episode to the very last episode and I am sorry to tell you this sir but you're wrong that they are each other's weakness and you will find this out as you continue with the show they are each other's strengths they are better together. Also my brother passed away in 1990 at 22 years old if he were somehow miraculously to come back to life I would grab him and never let go but I do not wish for that he is with our mother and father in Heaven and I look forward to seeing them all again

One of the best entrances in this show, in my opinion. The Angel of Thursday, Castiel. Eric picked one because Supernatural was on Thursday. Ruby's got a new meat suit. Don't trust her if she is helping Sam make his powers strong. This is my favorite season opener so far!!

Been binging the shit out of these episodes to get to season 4 and my FAVORITE CHARACTER IN ALL OF FICTIONAL MEDIA.
I was glad they didn't waste ANY time giving Dean back lol. It was confusing at first how he got out and he was lucky he didn't remember his time in hell. I would normally say it was a bit too quick but I know that the writers wouldn't have been able to not have Dean in the show. Plus having to wait all summer in real time would have made it feel a lot longer for casual viewers.
Nothing against Gen, she is a fine actress imo, it's just that we got so used to Katie as Ruby, so she was just such a drastic change! Like many people, I wasn't feeling the character as much with the change.
I remember not liking Castiel as much as everyone else at the start of season 4. I do like the whole Angel taking Dean out of hell though and now finally, both boys are alive without a threat of death looming lol. So it feels like we can breathe a TAD, however... we have to deal with Sam potentially going dark. I will say though that him using his powers was really cool to me!
Awesome reaction! Out of all the four seasons, I have to say this is the most powerful season premiere. I’m currently rewatching the show and I’m on season 4 now, just finished rewatching this episode today, I watch one a day on weekdays. This is going to be so much fun. You’re in for a fun ride. This season rates pretty high in my opinion, one of the best, especially with everything that’s going on, you’ll see. Enjoy! 🙂
