This is such powerful information. The Spiritual Life is not a theory, we must LIVE it. Prayer is the thing we want to avoid when we first come into the program. Then it becomes the thing we think is optional. Then we realize it is the THING that makes our program completely come together. It is the meat, the backbone of the work. There is a reason why every meeting begins and ends with one. Want to take your life to the next level? Use the prayers in the right situations. The Set Aside is great for newcomers. The sick man's prayer is great for showing us who we are and where we can be hypocrites. The St. Francis for making our character defects our greatest assets. Thy will not mine be done!

About your first sentence: _"I am powerless over alcohol"_ instead of _"I am an alcoholic":_ My problem with both sentences is that they lock someone into the cliché of being "an *alcolic* ", when in fact mental and spiritual evolution at one point calls for us to liberate ourselves from all rasters, like beauty, wealth, title, etc. Hence I would rater say _"I *was* powerless over alcohol / an alcoholic".
Al anon does not use AA literature because perceiving yourself as the victim of an alcoholic after years of abuse, and then coming out of denial about exactly why you chose to be in relationship with an alcoholic, is APPARENTLY very different from coming out of denial about how your drinking has affected you and others. Of course its the same situation really but it takes a lot of recovery in al anon before it becomes obvious.

Did this man help a sponsee get a functioning home, money, daily life where needed? It says in the BB, but I have never had a sponsor doing that with me or engaging to sponsor me in my situation. I saw the negative change start with the advent of the Microwave towers (and cell phonies) in 1997. Sweden also has the highest border values, which harms, stresses, tires, irritates us more than other nationalities. Do you have any advice for me?I have loved the AA for many years and hoped for my own help. but am now so sick and ired from giving my time and efforts for many years while my disease went unheloed, without getting the reard of a good enough sponsor working with me anyway.They don't really get me, and don't havetthe time or thematurity or the personality. What about being forgiving ppl who just go on harmin me? Co-dependence is dangerous, because I have been focusing on the well-being of others aand haveto learn to take care of me too.. Stuck in between. SOS!
Claudia, I feel your pain. I too had difficulty with finding a sponsor or singular individual to help with all my problems. Looking back I've had a few individuals who seem to fit the bill until they didn't. I found for myself even these many years l heeded the advise of the many that stated "I needed to take what I needed and leave the rest". Also I may never find such a individual to suit my need. Through an thourough examination of myself and my needs that I could never formulate a friendship or mentorship with anyone. So I listen often for those souls that touched mine and utilize what I have learned and let GOD take care of the rest. My wish for you is to stay strong and pray. I couldn't find a friend on my best day even all these years later. Keep the Faith bc it never fails 😇
God is the Sponsor. The human sponsor is just a spiritual guide. Do the Steps. Pray continuously for God to reveal the right sponsor/ guide. Go to as many meetings as you can to get exposure to more options and find someone who has what you want. Daily: Prayer. Meditation. Read the Big Book. Call and talk to another alcoholic. Go to a meeting. It will work it's a promise if you DO THE WORK. Peace and best wishes.
