I'm much more fortunate than this OP. My beloved husband is a technician (electricity, micro-computers and mechanic). All my family are academics. And they absolutely love and respect my husband!
The middle school where I worked every teacher had the name of their college and degrees near their classroom door. The teacher also talked about naming hallways after colleges. I chimed in and said if we do that then we need to have hallways for professions like: plumber, electrician, mechanic, computer technicians, carpenter, etc. Both college and professions have value in our society and should be treated as such. They shelved that hallway naming.
Good story and realistic regarding the ability of James the mechanic and his confidence, based on real things, competence and exposure to all levels of socioeconomic strata. Also realistic re the interference, jealousy sabotage.
This is similar to my brothers, view of me. Being both Photographer for 12 years and a Mechanic for 40 yrs. I love both. And at 60 (and for various reasons) left our home state. He asked if he could have my new address/ phone number. I told him I just want to retire in peace, and that he did nothing to add to that, quite the opposite. He was a little stunned by that, not realizing all the negativity he spread into not just my life, but others lives' as well. I did not bother to itemize them, just that I wanted it gone forever. Living the good life I worked hard for.
Good story..with a lesson to be learnt..the doctor fixers people..the mechanic fixers cars..both are needed..don't look down at people..thank you for a good story..good ending..🎉
My sister the golden child was angry and jealous about my my other sisters daughter with a doctorate who worked in a significant govt position , yet young. My sister was outraged contacted others and attempted to sabotage my niece.
This story is self-contradictory. 1. At 3 mins 31 secs it was declared that "Sarah & Marcus arrived with a brand new Mercedes." However, 2. At 6 mins 41 secs, we heard that "Sarah's voice grew shriller as she argued with Marcus about whose fault it was that they'd skipped the car's last scheduled maintenance ." Brand new cars do not have "scheduled maintenance. 3. At 7:11 James emerged from under the Mercedes... and your brake lines are severely corroded." We would not expect to see a new Mercedes to have corroded brake lines UNLESS The Mercedes was not "NEW" as declared but "new" to Marcus and Sarah.
More likely "new" to Marcus and Sarah. Depending on which dealer they bought the car from, the brand of the car would've been more emphasized over its "newness". Dealerships like people who are easily impressed by brand names, makes the sale of a recondotioned, used car go more smoothly.
The story starts off with they arrived in a BRAND NEW MERCEDES but then it's faulty due to years of neglect, if you're going to write a story at least be consistent.....

I'd take the mechanic/photographer life any day.
This woman needs a reality check!!!

I think the woman finally got her reality check. It's time for her to grow up.

How can you have years of neglect in a brand new Mercedes

Without mechanics who will fix your car when it breaks down? Not everyone can fix their own cars.
Great story
Endless money pits!
The Mercedes is brand new but shows signs of years of neglect?
