RIP *Alfred Benjamin Crentsil Jr* was born in Prestea to *Alfred Benjamin Crentsil Sr* and *Esi Yaaba* in 1943. He was always known as *AB junior* until his father died in 1984, when he assumed the *AB Crentsil* name. His primary and middle school education was at the *Takoradi Methodist Primary* and *Rev Cleveland Middle School* respectively. After his middle-school examinations, *AB* worked as an electrical apprentice under his father, who was the Superintendent of the technical branch of Ghana Railways at Takoradi. While in middle school, *AB Crentsil* was introduced to the *guitar* and became proficient in playing guitar, singing along when playing it. He was simultaneously working as an electrician and playing with the *Strollers Band.* *AB Crentsil* has played with the El Dorados, the Sweet Talks which latter in the 1970s, under the joint leadership of *AB Crentsil* and Smart Nkansah, were the resident band at *The Talk Of The Town Hotel* in Tema, with AB Crentsil as a lead singer and then finally the *Ahenfo Band* in 1982. *AB Crentsil* won the Fontomfrom Evergreen Award, an honor bestowed upon a musician with *15-20 years* of continuous music experience. *AB Crentsil* had 25 albums to his credit. Some of his songs which caught both local and international attention were *Papa Samo, Landlord Abodwese, Devil, Osokoo* among others. *AB Crentsil* passed on at The Bank Hospital in Accra on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Crentsil had eight children with his wife *Elizabeth.*
I grew up in Prestea from 1966 as a primary school pupil till 1979, but I didn't know that A.B . Crentsil hailed from Prestea. I know the Crentsils though, however, I do know that Jewel Ackah has his roots in Prestea. Also, I know that A.B played with the El Dorados of Aboso Glass Factory along with Afro Moses.
I like this song. Is more of a gospel. Is philosophical and should strengthen our gratefulness and thankfulness to God. A. B. thank you. God bless you.
RIP AB. We the youth/Ghanaians of today are not taking your precious advice though this song. People are dying on the desert all because of Europe. We are not satisfied with the little that we have. People holding high positions at work places, politicians etc are looting the country's money as if there is no tomorrow 😢😭😭. But we have to know that a judgement day awaits us all😢😢😢
Feeling appreciated is one of the most important needs that people have. When you share with someone your appreciation and gratitude, they will not forget you. Appreciation will return to you many times.Duni says hello from Holland
Hey @ Curtis Ahenkan I've got the cd of Highlife sunsplash, vol 1. I know I have. But it's not the whole cd it's only of the first 4 songs, I could get one down to you also if you would like. Love my Ghana music with a passion!
Don, please upload this album if you have the full. It was an ALL STAR ALBUM dubbed HILIFE SUNSPLASH. I had a cassette of it the 90s but it's no more and I can't get the CD too. Thanks
@@CurtisAhenkan I'll look for it in my vast collection of cassettes and dub a copy for you. Then I'll come back here and update you and find a way to send it to you. 🤞
What release is this song from? It's not on the tracklist for the 'mandingo' album in the backdrop and it is not the same as the version on the 'Gyae Me Life Ma Me' LP either. I would love to know, thanks... Incredible music...
@@akadnet I'm with you 100%. The bassline on this version is what hooked me too. I've been looking all over for this version but can't find it anywhere.

Oh My God! I never heard about Ralph Kakari's demise. He also played with George Darko of the "Ako Te Brofo" LP.
