I connect with certain aspects of this song, but those that are personal to Lissie break my heart even further. I’ve been a long-time fan and I remember when her dog Ned died needlessly due to the carelessness of others. She also seemed to be in a good place with her partner at the time, but clearly that relationship ended poorly. Based on the songs, it seems her broke things off over the phone like a coward. I’m so sorry, Lissie. You deserved better.
