I met Dan Severn once at a seminar and he told me this: "The Japanese people believed in Sakuraba so much that they thought he could not lose, they wouldn't stop the matches because they knew he would win" in reverence to the K1 fight.
What a great video, I had no idea about these comebacks. There are a bunch of videos out there about Sakuraba, but none make mention of any of these. Great content, I'm always happy to see the notification.
great video, I consider myself a big Sakuraba fan yet never heard of the first two! and a question, do you think you'll ever do another release of the Rashguards?
The UFC... I don't think so. I know the case of Jason DeLucia who participated in UFC 1, and fought a Gracie. But going to the ground game with a Gracie? That's crazy. The closest thing in UFC would be Lyoto Machida, whose father is also an aikido black belt and has taught him some techniques. However there were other promotions in which aikidokas or at least black belt aikidokas who used also other styles (This is MMA after all) succeded at some point. Rik Ellis, aikido black belt, apart from other martial arts. Son of Henry Ellis, a student from Abbe and Kazuo Chiba (both introduced aikido in the UK). Ellis has won the UK-1 in the past. I can't find a proper list of his records but he won the title for sure. His son, Jay Dodds (also a black belt) has a record of 6 wins 1 loss in MMA, but hasn't achieved any major title. In BJJ (that I practice along with aikido) there are also several major figures who use aikido in competitions as long as rules allow it and succeeded.
Hey guys, as promised, a new video every Monday. Your support in the comments will be highly appreciated. 🙏 Thanks!

Curious to see if there was ever any Aikijutsu/aikido masters winning in the UFC (besides silva) or smashing a gracie
