- Here I mount piston rings on a piston to a Speedfight 100cc and 50cc.

Some hints, tricks and other things you should know at piston replacement:
Things to consider when installing an aftermarket Piston, is that you very carefully to make sure it is identical with the piston as it is ordered in the dimensions of the piston pin, both upwards and downwards, this so that it can not turn the crank, push or hit the top when it rotates in the cylinder.
Compare with your old piston before installation.
One must also carefully check every holes on the piston rings ports so that they do not go over any channel in the cylinder, then the chances are that the ruling in this case, sticking and breakage, leading to the cutting cylinder. The arrow on the piston is at assembly towards the exhaust port.
Choosing the piston:
B-piston recommend it for all used cylinders.
A piston for new cylinders or cylinders with new nicasil.
A B piston is slightly larger than an A piston in order to compensate for wear. C piston is greater than B-piston etc..

Important! If using the piston in barrel whilst off the bike method on twin cylinder bikes, also fit the inner circlips whilst off the bike. Less fiddly, and anyway when fitting circlip to cylinder 2, barrel 1 would be in the way.
Are the inner circle clips important because I been try to get them in for a while and i can’t really find a way to get them in???

Hello, I have a problem, I have a Peugeot Speedfight 1 100cc that recently seized up/heat seized. It was not tuned. I then changed the cylinder, piston etc. It now starts up right away, but after a while it dies all of a sudden (as if you had turned off the key) and then I can start it right up again, this usually happens when I go over 60 km/h or uphill.
When I changed the cylinder etc, I also cleaned everything thoroughly, such as the carburettor, intake, new air filter, new fuel filter (there was no fuel filter before) new spark plug. I also removed the oil pump and put a metalplate with a gasket over the hole instead, I now mix the oil directly into the gasoline.
Some other info that might be important.
- When I drive over 60 km/h, it starts to make a noise from the variator (CVT), it´s sounds quite a lot.
- When it died, I tried to start it again while it was rolling and then it started right away, but it made a noise from the variator, like something "let go" that had been seized up, like a rubber sound, maybe from the belt.
- The variator belt touches the variator cover on the inside and has grinded a cut in the metal.
- In the variator, where the weights are, the belt does not go down to the bottom of the wheel.
- The clutch bell had turned blue from the heat.
- The place where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft had turned blue from heat.
- There was no fuel filter on it before. But i now saw there is an internal fuel filter in the gastank, can it affect the vacuum if you now have 2 fuel filters.
Please help me.

Your video is the only place on the web that I found that mentions the "extra" ring that you said goes under the lower ring...what is this extra ring called, what is it's purpose and why does it go under the lower ring?

Music sucks but I learned that the arrow points towards the exhaust port that way the end gap on the rings is not anywhere near the Southport or the two intake ports. Again the music totally sucks.

So which way does the chamfer go on the top ring and does the top ring gap need to be 180 degrees ( as far as possible from the bottom ring gap ) so the compressed gasses take as long as possible to go through both gaps ?

i have a tb60 2 stroke i ordered a rebuild kit and the new kit had the extra ring that goes under the lower compresion ring. but....as long as that extra ring is in place the cylinder will not go on. if removed it works fine but i want to know why it does not fit right and is it safe to run without the extra ring?

Do you have to hone the cylinder to put new rings on. I know you do on cast iron but what about a chrome lined Puch E50.
mocatz187 my stock kx had chrome lined sleeve...I took to a shop to have it inspected before doing a top end and I was told if the jug is not damaged or scored in anyway I can swap rings daily if I wanted to without and honing....comment from experience not technical knowledge
