I really like it's matching element perk for my strand and stasis builds having 100% mod efficiency, and its super demo is icing on the cake.

The one thing Fallout didn't mention is the alt-fire ALSO procs the psuedo-Demolitionist perk. If you get a good number of enemies with that alt-fire, you oftentimes end up either with a LOT of grenade energy back, if not the full nade.
YMMV, but I've found it to be quite fun. Just wish it had something on its normal fire. Here's hoping the catty gives it that last little oomph it needs.
They should give it the perk chromatic fire has just with body shots instead of head shots

You should use this on a nothing manacles, void warlock scatter nade build. You can have nades up 99% of the time and deal a good chunk of damage. Also it procs volatile rounds and devour. Its goood good.

Might seem like a lot which it kinda is but you get four seasons, a dungeon key, new raid access, dlc access, AND the exotic weapon.

I've been using it a lot and have been LOVING IT. I've mixed it with Swarmers and the artifact mods plus the Wanderer aspect to set off what are essentially nukes every 5 seconds whether it be my Tangle or the exotic's alt fire mode.

Personally, I'm finding Tessaltion fantastic. Running it with Rufus' and the new rocket launcher means I can run triple Strand surge and all my equipped weapons benefit from the bonus. Something you brought up in the video is a lot of exotics are outclassed by legendaries nowadays, and this is true, which is why I get a bit twitchy when I have a full loadout of legendaries and can't think of an exotic to run 99% of the time. This kind of fills that hole a bit, especially since a lot of my playtime is now on Broodweaver or Shadebinder rather than any Light subclasses
Tessellation is also really good with sunbracer warlocks as you can fire 2-3 shots back to back without needing to shoot adds
I have two suspicions of what the catalyst might be, most likely giving an effect from the respective class or if they don’t want to go crazy on the catalyst paracausal affinity.
If it is the former, and it is scorch for solar you’ll probably be able to get off an ignition along with those powerful shots. Which sounds really good.

@@joselazo6840 yeah but that's not the point. Also the shots do a pretty high amount of damage and are better at quickly melting a champion faster than a stack of solar nades would.
Due to the fact that nobody should be preordering the final shape until Bungie steps it up. I'd say it's not worth it
Tessalation being able to match Targeting, unflinching and other mods with your primary is pretty nice for PvP, it may not be meta but I really don't care about that

It's a fun PvE exotic. Definitely not for PvP, considering the other crafted options available. Regardless of any balance changes we may get between now and Final Shape, it'll come down to what Bungie comes up with its catalyst for it.
Me being a responsible adult resisting temptation from pre-ordering with my credit card like I would normally do because I'm trying to buy a home and also another game I play Warframe has these skins that recently came out Heirloom collection for around the same price up hold off for now.

@@tromar5758 those skins actually look really good albeit I use of one more than the other it does include some decent amount of Plat (warframes premium currency) some regal Aya etc didn't feel like listing everything there.
I know the feeling, trying to save up for a car but that frost skin is looking pretty good.

I think what they should do with the Tesselation is have the charged shot inherit properties from the grenade being sucked into it.
Like imagine you put in a threadling grenade, and when you land a shot, 2-3 threadlings come out of the explosion and then attack for even more damage?
Or you put in a coldsnap grenade and when you land a shot, it sends 2 seekers to freeze additional enemies.
Maybe this is what they might do for the catalyst?

Yeah the gun is awesome but 100 is WAAAAAY too much. I get inflation and stuff like that buuuuuuuut 100 is too much. Wait the dlc drop, see if it is good and get the gun at that time.
@@lordgrub12345I agree with you minus the fact you're not really spending $100 for the gun. You are getting the next 3 season passes/episodes and dungeon key with it which saves a lot of money over time if you plan on buying future seasons n dungeons.

i think this Weapon will be as it was with Quicksilver Storm... she was ok but with the catalyst it became a really good rifle.. i mean i use it all the time with strand, well most of the time..
I like it its fun but I don't think it's going to be replacing my toaster since that hasn't left my immediate load out from black armory and yeah I rock it in pvp like Jake mains last word
As a strand hunter IMO absolutely, this thing is stupidly fun to use
With my build and no buffs, it's stupid damage and i can also get my strand grenadeback every like 20 seconds with mods, but when I run triple surge, it can usually 1 shot kill literally anything but bosses otheewise it will do ungodly amounts of chunk damage
the alt fire is kinda nice while using healing or grapple nades, just gives another option
Hell no, cmon man!! We shouldn’t pre order anything from Bungie after all the terrible DLCs. Over half the DLC in this game was terrible. Forsaken and witch queen were the only good ones. Stop the Cap Fallout. That’s why I don’t follow majority of D2 streamers. Why?? Because you guys literally rely on people engaging with the game to “earn” a living. Let’s all pretend like Lightfall was good and PvP wasn’t neglected for over 4 years. Bruh….stop promoting FOMO tactics that Bungie use. No gun ever will be worth$100.

Yes, I think a series of PAINFUL BOLTS directly into the WITNESS' SPINE should get the job done.
it's got a very good loop. if you're not doing like, just endgame content and nothing else, and can afford to sacrifice a little bit of efficiency for a fun game loop I'd recommend it. I wouldn't preorder final shape solely for this weapon but it's a neat bonus
If you really wanted to get goofy with this gun, you can run Arc titan with Arbor Wadern. Really a different kinda of set up eating my lightning gnades and throwing my barricades.
I'm not gonna lie. I enjoy tess, but I feel it shines more in build synergy. The catalyst probably will dip into subclass verbs. Quicksilver was in a similar spot on release, and we'll have to wait and see what the caty does.

Is it worth it to spend it your hard earned 100 dollars on this but at the same when you pre-order the standard final shape you will get the gun when final shape released next year in the episode’s I think I’m not very sure but will see

I'm buying that annual pass for the content cause that's what the content costs. This gun is just a neat little free add on for me personally.
It's funny to me some people really thought there are player that would pay 100 dollars only for the weapon.
Don’t forget that Tessellation also has built in Demolitionist. So if you kill five enemies with that charge shot, you get your grenade back immediately and, assuming there are tons of ads around, you can keep firing that charged shot over and over again to clear the whole room.
Personally, this is the most fun I’ve had with a Weapon. It is amazing.

I feel like a lot of people don’t realize that if you pre order something, your not immediately charged until the week of release. So if you really wanted to you can pre order final shape get the bonuses and then cancel the pre order; you keep all of the bonuses.

Almost definitely gonna be more worth using when they catalyst comes out, likely in final shape. Kinda like quicksilver where it’s full potential isn’t realized without the catalyst.
That’s what I’m hoping anyway. Hopefully the grenade afflicts potent debuffs ties to the subclass with it or something
To each their own....I love it tbh...allows me to run all strand on my hunter and I have constant Rasenshurikens cause all my weapons create tangles(Rufio, tess and MG) and it has deep ammo economy with one ammo mod
I'll say this: I had more success taking this to the Lighthouse than I would've with Ex Diris.
Plus, if you run an all-Strand or all-Stasis build, you can use three harmonic targeting and unflinching mods if you have the armor energy to spare.
AND Monochromatic Maestro is back, so it'll amp up abilities and weapons of matching types.
Pop on Eye of Another World, and using your grenade charge is much less painful.
I've been running it with osmio gloves and the alt fire is really nice to harass Titan barricades or fight revives and cap zones in trials. Just wish the recoil direction was better

I think one of the aspects that actually makes Tessellation good, that you didn't mention here, is the demolitionist-like perk that it has. In many cases you can fully or near fully refund your grenade on multi-kills with the alt fire. OR if you are running a build that would rather use your grenades normally it can still help you recharge your grenades much faster than you would with another fusion rifle.
Even comparing it to something like quicksilver storm you have to consider this imo. Yes quicksilver can put out more damage with it's alt fire grenades BUT what if you want to be running a strand build with extremely high uptime on shackle grenades? Quicksilver storm does nothing for such a build BUT Tessellation can be giving you big chunks of grenade energy on every kill, while still being a strand weapon in your energy slot to pair with your class for surges etc. This season in particular it can also be your Unstoppable weapon with the artifact mod.
IMO one of the biggest factors in "should you pre-order to get Tessellation" is the question...are you going to buy The Final Shape regardless? If you're already a huge Destiny player and you know you're going to be buying the expansion anyway...why not do so now and get the exotic as a bonus to use early before Final Shape. The question is just if you could potentially get a better deal on the expansion somewhere down the line if you wait.
Granted I'd also highly recommend people go to GreenManGaming to pre-order Final Shape for $20 less than through the steam store.
the gun has demolitionist built into it so you get your grenade back fairly quickly

For me i was going to preorder the final shape and season pass as i have the last couple of years. So getting a new toy to play with is a nice bonus.

I have used tessellation and have a few notes. One, it generates grenade energy with ever kill, so you usually dont go without that grenade for long. Two, we will be getting a catalyst with Final Shape. Lastly, I agree with the general gist of the video. It is a fun gun, but most of the time it does end up in my vault.
The "consumes your grenade" angle kind of falls flat in PVE, as this basically has Demolitionist already. Pop that shot into adds and the grenade is already back.
It is pretty bad for pvp, though, no question
Edit: followup, you're preprdering the game and getting the annual pass because it's cheaper than getting the seasons individually. This is just an incentive. If you were going to get the...I get EPISODES now...then it's whatever anyway, right?
No discounted damage-type mods in the artifact this season, but harmonic mods allow you to add a third (or alternative harmonic mod) on each armor piece, which is actually really nice. It's kinda like having Ophidian, but I also get to use Swarmers and have a threadling build.
[Side note: I want all ability regens nerfed by like 50% in crucible, so we actually have gunplay and people actually have to /choose/ when to use abilities (as opposed to having nearly every ability for nearly every engagement). I embraced the Threadling build because I'm so sick of dying to abilities all the time that I'm contributing to the mayhem in hopes that it gets everything nerfed faster.]

For me, the gun is absolutely worth it for Stasis Warlock.
I love running my Headstone Eyasluna, chaining headshots & crystal explosions off coldsnaps and turrets. The problem is that armor charge loops can't run on Stasis Grenade or Melee siphons since neither kill, and Stasis Shards mean giving up Iceflares, and the shards aren't nearly as potent as they used to be regardless.
Meaning I have to rely on Stasis Weapon Siphons and Reaper to get my loops going, which isn't ideal on a Handcannon, let alone that mostly gets its kills off shatter effects that don't count for orb generation.
This means I have to either give up Iceflares, or use a Stasis Fusion, and while Riptide absolutely shreds and Deliverance with Demo generates turrets like no-ones business even without charges, it means I have to give up the Handcanon I wanted to use in the first place.
Worse yet, in either scenario, I am almost entirely dependent on my heavy slot for a quick "grenade-like" delete function, since I'm now dedicating my special to a function, and Coldsnaps/Turrets are a different role entirely.
Enter this thing, which can:
- Occupy the Special slot, allowing me to use my handcannon AND have a high damage burst option that plays into the kit
- Rounds out my aggressive kit by allowing me to convert 1 of my 2 excess Grenades into a high damage explosive.
- Gives me the flexibility to use a sword for mobility without worrying about what the plan is against a chunky target (obviously not the plan in any scenario where I need to do real damage)
It's allowing me to use a full kit with build synergy where I've never been able to find success before. For me, it's perfect.
I find in combo with a void build if you have devour procc'd before firing out the grenade shot you get a TON of energy back, enough to generally refund the grenade.

I found that it pairs fairly well for a burst ramp up for "Bait and Switch" if you prep alt mode before a dps phase you can squeeze just a little more damage in on a boss in a short window. This is exceesingly niche so I would not suggest it as a selling point as a solo thing, just a hidden perk.
It's kinda odd feeling about this gun. At first, i bought it for my Pure-Stasis fantasies, but then i noticed that it's pretty good as side weapon on sunbracer build. And that's the reason its odd to me. Gun bought my attention, and 100 bucks, for darkness mono-weapon build only for beign used by solar-warlock.

For all of my fellow Sunbracer-goblins out there. Timing of discharging is rather rough, so try to end SB rotation with charging Tesselation, rather than starting it so

Joe made a lot of promises, but they're just that, and Bungie breaking promises is a large part of why the community was so pissed off.

Weird how there's a totally broken exotic that you get for spending $100. After enough people buy it and ruin the game, Bungie will nerf/disable the exotic and keep the money. This seems like a total FOMO trap to deliberately increase preorders. Don't do it.

If that explosive shot is good, try the elemental orb. The orb deals even more damage than this weapon when you have armor charges.

But for real though, didnt they say before that they released Quicksilver a bit underpowered so that it would avoid being called pay 2 win and just something fun to mess around with early for people that wanted to? Also they were sitting on the catalyst which is really what turned Quicksilver up. Likely the same idea here. Or at least the first part, couldnt say about the catalyst part.
I am not PRE-ORDERING anything from BUNGIE any more. They have proven time and time again that the only they are consistent about is being I CONSISTENT.
Furthermore they have demonstrated the ability to deceived, to lied and to break promises. They have also shown an attitude of pride and have continue in multiple instances to disrespect their customers and fans. Bungie has become just another Developer that is more concern with Microtransactions than the product they produce for their customers. In my opinion they are careless and full of themselves and I won't be spending much of my money on any of their games anymore.
Bungie you either DELIVER a good Product or I recomend people NOT TO BUY the next expansion. We need to respect ourselves as customers and show them we have the power of the purse. Is time for this COMMUNITY TO STAND UP!
i think the super clean elemental synergy is a phenomenal plus that speaks for itself
i feel like i could definitely skip this gun for most if not all the reasons you presented so it boils down to being a neat toy or being for players who dont have other weapons that fill its roles

I'm not buying the gun for $100. I'm buying Final Shape for $100. I've always bought the deluxe edition of every expansion and don't plan to change that for Final Shape. Tesselation is just a bonus. It's definitely fun (especially with my Armamentarium build), but I just can't seem to justify using it over my Salvagers Salvo
Tbh I do not care about this thing’s damage at all. If damage was all this thing had going, then yeah it’s pretty bad, but it also has grenade regen (1 of 2 exotic weapons to directly do so, and it CAN BE ANY ELEMENT!!! That alone makes it very good for stasis and strand builds, and the grenade gen makes it useful for light builds. Do I think ur missing out if you don’t get one before final shape? No. Should you try it out with a few builds if you do get one now? 100% yes
Asking if this exotic is worth $100 is asking the wrong question, but typical RUclipsr behaviour to make a video out of nothing.
The Final Shape annual pass is a $100. If you think you'll get value for money on a hundred bucks for a year of content and you're sure you'll be playing D2 when Final Shape rolls around, go ahead and preorder. Tessellation is a free bonus to sweeten the deal, nothing more.
People who are obsessed with thinking that guns HAVE to shake up the meta or they're trash need to get a life. Destiny 2 is NOT so serious that you need to forsake having fun. It is literally a video game. It is entertainment. Games are supposed to be fun. Fuck the meta, fuck the numbers. It's a sexy gun with juicy explosions, that's "top tier" in my book.
And also.... you shouldn't be left high and dry without a grenade charge anyway, because that's what builds are for. If you have a decent loadout to compensate, there should be no issue. You have three guns to play with, not one. LOL.

Id rather it join the Hardlight and Borealis in the "Hold Reload to Change Element" fan group. Matching the subclass is nice, but let me spawn Elemental Drops while using a seperate subclass. Have it set to ark but youre using void? Take that Ionic Trace and get amplified. THAT would be nice

Since Bungie isn't going to run out of digital copies of The Final Shape, the answer to the question "Should you preorder The Final Shape" is no. Paying $100 to play with a gun now, only to find out you don't like it, is probably one of the worst pieces of advice I've ever heard anyone give. The gun will eventually become available to everyone after some time has past. I never preordered The Witch Queen but I'm rocking that shinny exotic auto rifle with it's catalyst fully unlocked. Never preorder games, that's what they want. They make a lot of money really fast and in the end it doesn't matter if the expansion is good or not. That's what they are counting on.
I preorded final shape + annual pass because it is STILL the cheapest entertainment product I pay for, dollar per fun extracted.
In contrast I fired that weapon....

I preordered deluxe, not because of the gun, or the cosmetics, or anything; but because I know I'll play the expansion, and my country's inflation is ridiculous and gotta buy it before my currency plummets further.
But yeah, the gun's been kinda dissapointing.
I think people need to stop looking at these pre-order guns as "$100 guns" because no, they come WITH all the content for the entire year. It's not like you're paying the $100 for just the gun. And videos like this do not help steer people from this backward thinking.

If it would be wild good op shit 100% L + ratio, people would go mad about "pay to win". Also you can go fun dps build with weapon surges matching all 3 weapons (sth like broodweaver with neomuna sniper - tesselation - trials gl)
The weird gun design makes it feel like you're holding a hand cannon that charges up.... It feels different
I pre-ordered because I was told to. Aiat. I used it, but not a lot, because of all what you point out. Didn't really see anything amazing I couldn't use another fusion for in regular mode. Plus trying to get kills on Ex Diris....
It’s more that after Lightfall, I can’t preorder a $100 expansion and annual pass this time around. I’ll buy just the expansion when it comes out and if I feel like the game is still worth it after that then I’ll invest in seasons.

For me it would be totally worth if it was granted in the pre-order of the base TFS, not in the Annual Pass edition. What I will do is buy the expansion and wait for the discount on the annual pass because I really like the weapon but I just don't like the price.
I fell for the preorder BS with lightfall, I am NOT falling for it again. "Just because a live service you enjoy is OK now does not mean their next expansion will be good" was an expensive lesson I had to learn.
I was able to pre-order to get all the little bonus items like the Ghost, Emblem, and the Tessellation and then cancel while still keeping all the items. I still have full access to the fusion rifle and everything else I unlocked. I'm on Xbox so I don't know how easy and or viable it would be for people on PC or PS to do, but I can confirm that doing so on Xbox works if you really want to play around with the fusion or get any of the extra stuff, but are still on the fence about Final Shape.
No you shouldn't pre-order for a gun. You pre-order it for the following reasons: you are a long time fan of the franchise, you're ready to see the end of this saga of the game, you are financially stable enough to pay for it in advance AND/ OR you have some faith in bungie to deliver a gaming experience you want.
A lot of these titles fail to remind you that you are paying to get the weapon in ADVANCE. Even if you don't pre-order the gun will become available to you either on release or the second season of the expansion.
Half the problems you have describe can be summed up to power creep and work with other weapons too, "why run dead messenger when I can run forbearance" also comparing an exotic to a fully crafted weapon isn't really fair, of course an insane godroll fusion feels better than an exotic, could you imagine if tessellation had enhanced underpressure, and high impact reserves or rangefinder? the whole community would be up in a riot because bungie priced the best gun ever behind a $100 paywall!
Pre Ordered because they won't charge your credit card until a week before Final Shape. Win all around. I like Tessalation but I can't put down Ex Diris!
FYI -- People ordering the Collector's Edition have NOT been receiving the preorder bonus items including the Tessellation.
You do forget we have more ways to get grenades back too since it already gives 20% grenade energy PER enemy defeated. Devour works with this too if you want to get spicy. I think this exotic is worth the $100

I *really* like the gun for PvE. Grenades are a dime a dozen and almost every build i run is maxed grenade regen, with a demo primary. Very easy to preload it, run about, swap and fire. Innate chain reaction means it will clear a large group better than most any other option available, and its high burst for majors/bosses gets it good use so you dont need to use every rocket in your reserve, at the cost of some preload time.
The only complaint i have is the lack of tracking at all on the shot. So many times i feel like i should have easily hit, only for it to sail right through a god damned witch. It doesnt need toaster levels of tracking, but just something.
Me? I understand I’m in the minority here and can accept my opinion isn’t popular. But I think it’s disgusting that Bungie puts these over powered and broken exotics as incentives to pre-order a year’s worth of content prior to seeing what you are purchasing. Especially in a time where Bungie has the community totally confused on what the future of the franchise is, or if there will even be one after Y7, or if the studio is even interested in producing the franchise any further.

I have to think that Bungie intentionally released it in a state where it’s “fine” but not “need to have”. If it had been the latter the community would be up in arms about it being a pay to win item. My guess is that like Quicksilver Storm, the catalyst drops with the expansion launch and the… ahem… final shape of the weapon will be something stronger or more compelling.

Here's the thing. I'm going to play the final shape regardless of pre-order bonuses or not. I went ahead and bought it because I'm going to play it anyways even though I'm not big on pre-ordering to begin with. I personally think that no the weapon itself is not worth spending $100 for it if that is all you want
I miss Plan C. I assume bungie is scared of putting exotic PvP fusions into D2, which is why we still haven't gotten one and probably never will
No, No, No… the gun is not worth it. Plus if they want that amount of money they gotta show that they really changed the core problems with the game. Im a die hard bungie fan but enough is enough. I work hard for 100bucks.
You keep talking about having to use your grenade, you pretty much get the grenade back when killing 5 enemies. Thus consuming grenade is not an issue. You can get three grenades on your hunter and multiple grenades with the other classes. Forebearance is king, but this fusion can adapt to any class, nothing else can. You can now run a full stasis or strand build. I agree if your only a pvp guy, not worth it. It’s the most fun gun to use.
For me and i guess only for me this weapon is FUCKING amazing but only because i have a super strong melee build and with that build i get my Grenade Back in 2 sec
No weapon is worth the preorder price if you ask me. You are literally paying the $100 for some cosmetics and a weapon. You still need to wait for the actual content of the expansion.
If you wanna spend the money, all the power to you, im not gonna stop you. I just think its not worth it.
Tessellation still seems like a damn fine weapon regardless.
I much rather just buy the regular version of the final shape 70 bucks for the annual pass is just too much 60 dollars for the lightfall annual pass was the highest game purchase I have ever made so I be taking the 35 dollar version too bad I won’t be able to get this weapon
Also did anyone test the ruinous effigy and yhe new Void artifact? Does it only spawn one orb(effigy guarantee) or will it drop 2?(effigy + void artifact orb)
It may be worth it, as pre ordering doesn't only get you the new exotic weapon tesselation, but also by pre ordering you'll receive a sparkly clean 2006 honda civic
