Your reviews are so detailed and wonderful I subscribed on the spot. Also this is my first time commenting on RUclips. Please keep making reviews. I hope one day I can afford a Pelikan Pen, they are beautiful.
Hi Tony! Thanks so much for your encouraging comment and kind words! It is people like you take make all that worth the while :-). I will keep on doing reviews, for sure ;-). Thank you again!
Great review. I've been thinking about this pen, but I've held off because I have a 1990's M400 Brown Tortoise. There are differences in the models though -- the modern version has the frosted cap top, more gold rings, and a different tortoise pattern on the barrel, and also the nib. The nib on mine is single-tone, very springy (I would say semiflex), but it writes like a fire-hose. It is an "F" that writes almost as fat as a "B", which is why I've considered getting this newer release with an EF nib in that beautiful bicolor finish. The only problem is, I wish Pelikan would produce this in the M600 size!
Thanks for your kind feedback! I totally second everything you say. Not an easy decision, since the pen is not especially cheap. I also understand the thought of wanting an M600 - the 400 is not the girthiest pen on earth. If and when there will be an M600 in this finish - who knows. There is an M800 though. That was the 2013 special editions. It's quite difficult to find on the 2nd hand market though and, if found, often a bit expensive.
That's a fantastic looking, as well as functional writing implement, but then I am somewhat biased toward Pelikans - from any era. I've never had any hard start or skipping issues with any that I own. The colouration in that Tortoiseshell finish is truly spectacular, & the dark brown section, cap, & turning knob also complement the barrel, nicely. Oh, to have an M800 in that finish !! Outstanding presentation, grateful thanks :)
Truly beautiful pen. This one and the white tortoise are my favorite Pelikans from the modern production. They make such a good-looking couple!
You are right! I also like them a lot!

why dont you have a soft top table? easier for the pens and less noise
because I do not like that :)
