+chazofalsa that would be nice but that isn't going to happen most of the older original cast are deceased and the others are to old I wish it would though I miss the good old days of great soaps
Keith Jacobson yeah. I'm 16 and i only know this show because my mom used to make me watch it with her when it was still on and i actually ended liking it. When it went off my mom was upset and tried to enjoy watching general hospital which isn't a bad show but doesn't compare to one life to live. She still watches GH, but personally i think the story is pretty boring.
This brings me back to my childhood. I used to watch this with my grandfather whenever I had a day off of school or had winter, spring or summer break. R.I.P. John Moore. (1932-2021) We had great times with each other.
Agreed. I think this music is more fitting for an action packed adventure fantasy than a show that is 90% people talking to the camera with one or two sets. It’s so exhilarating and makes you want to have a real adventure yourself.
I think this should have been the theme for Greys Anatomy....I can just hear the thumping intro drum beat after the opening scene of a dramatic emergency room story beginning.
The show was revived in early 2013 but production was halted again later that year. Abc regained the rights to the program in 2016, but is not planning to revive it again. If abc revives the soap opera it would probably air in primetime.
God, it makes me want to cry. This melody is so beautiful, the emotions it brings up and the way it makes you feel is like none other. It is almost as if it makes me mourn the past and the lost possibilities and at the same time makes it hopeful looking forward for the future. I miss One Life To Live so much. It's been my one constant since I was 10 years old, from 1993 until the end. Well.. We still have the future
This theme was used from November 20, 1995 until June 11, 2004. It was used during the tenures of five of the show’s executive producers: Susan Bedsow Horgan (July 1994 - October 1996) Maxine Levinson (October 1996 - December 1997) Jill Farren Phelps (January 1998 - January 2001) Gary Tomlin (January 2001 - December 2002) Frank Valentini (December 2002 - January 2012)
I miss this show so incredibly much. I watched it my entire life. My mother grew up watching it with her mom and grandma (my mom was six when this show began) and I watched it with her until its end (from '96 to 2012). I ALWAYS thought that it would be around for me to watch with my kids, and I couldn't have been more disappointed to be so wrong. It broke my heart when I found out the show was ending and I stayed home from school the day the show ended so I could watch the entire episode. This theme song means more to me than any other show's song does. It was a part of my life until I was sixteen - a HUGE part of my life. I still come back to listen to this or watch some clips from time to time. Thank you so much for posting this. And thank you, OLTL, for being such a big part of my life.
God the best show ever. I remember watching this show when I was in 4th grade every day over the summer, the guys were so hot. It had such a diverse cast and such exciting storylines.
Winnetka: Winter vacation 96-97, 11th grade, Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream, watching the snow from my bedroom window and waiting to hear this beautiful theme song come on. I long to relive those precious days again. ❤

excellent theme song. a friend of mine who worked for ABC got me a pristine copy of this and the other cuts as well. not sure why they "remixed" this after 2004 to water it down.. incidentally the music was composed by the same guy who wrote the moonlighting theme song..
They didn't remix it. They completely re-recorded it with an all new instrumental - and by comparison, it was awful and unsophisticated. All 3 ABC Daytime soaps, at the direction of Brian Frons, were to have openings that represented a common branding for ABCD. All My Children was able to remix their current theme (recorded 2 years prior) with a new guitar and percussion track. But GH & OLTL had to redo theirs completely.
I loved the "champagne" opening (I was one of the few, I guess) so this one took some getting used to. But in the end I thought it fit the show perfectly! I miss OLTL & AMC. The remaining shows are good but they're tired.
My Great grandmother use to make me take naps when this came on. Im probably the last generation that was made to take naps when getting on a grown folks nerves. +Boyd Davenport I'd like to add Josh Griffith's second time around as HW in 2003 and the team of Craig Carlson, Peggy O'Shea, S. Michael Schnessel, Lloyd "Lucky" Gold, etc. from the Paul Rauch era as also great head writers. I heard about the great writing of Sam Hall and Gordon Russell, but I didn't know about it as I was a kid then, and didn't become a die-hard fan until late summer 1986. The only thing I knew about OLTL before then was that month-long masquerade ball storyline where Olympia Buchanan tried to off Asa and Samantha Vernon and the storyline where Dr. Kipling implanted a mind control device in Larry Wolek's brain.

Interesting site, and thanks for the direct link! I'm currently on the hunt for a clean (or as close to clean as possible) version of Loving's 1989 instrumental theme; it's a shame this site doesn't have it.
Indeed. Hey, I did think of another idea for a PBS/soap crossover. Sesame Street and Guiding Light, perhaps? Or what about Sesame Street and The Young and the Restless?
All things to consider! I once did a Sesame Street/GH crossover opening (using "Faces of the Heart"). I'm still quite proud of it, even though I have improved my chroma key skills since then, lol.
I still love this theme. And I still hate ABC for cancelling this show.
There was a rumor that ABC will bring back AMC and OLTL next year in 2017 but it's just a rumor though so it would be nice if it's confirmed true.
