Works as long as you are not crossing chunks. The chunk borders are on all X and or Y coordinates divisible by 16. So if your X coordinate is 400, you are on a chunk border.

Yes it works and as long as it is inside a chunk border, not touching the border, you can go 12 wide with this. Insane amount of bonemeal or dried kelp either way.

It's easy, just go wider. Start on one chunk border and work to the other side. You can fit 12 in a line and still have all of it inside the border. I did it just fine, but honestly it can't keep up with the 24 smokers I put in, so I did a second one on top. It still can't keep up though. I dug down, centralized the collection into three chests that feed an autocrater setup with 4 chests of collection for kelp blocks. If I were to change anything, I don't see the need for the sticky pistons and sand below the grow level though. And I broke this clock and used an observer. It's so much quieter that way. And less lag too. And it produces better I think.
Dang they nerfed the amount of xp from smelting :/

I had this problem too. I just let the cavity on the bottom fill up with sand, then placed new sand, and instead of placing it on the piston face, I placed it against the side and let the piston pick it up. Also, if you break one piece, replace every piece, and always place on the side of the box it goes in instead of on the piston.
i build it next to the wood farm you build before so if I afk both can do work and wont gonna break

So I got it working for 2 or three pieces of kelp. Verified it's within a chunk and 3 away from every boarder. Just doesn't want to work for me.... Any suggestions would be fantastic!

There’s not much you need to do. Just place hoppers into the bottom of the furnace leading to a crafter that shoots kelp blocks into a hopper in the ground leading to a chest

Brother, i don't get why isn't the kelp rapidly not growing like in the video. Do i have to wait or does it do like that? All the redstone is alright also I'm playing in Minecraft pocket edition.
This worked for me, I’ve just built it on my world on my iPhone, and it works on my uploaded (to realm) world on both iPhone and Xbox.
I don’t really care about the xp, but the xp side of it works - if you shut off the hoppers and let them fill up with dried kelp, you get a lot of xp.
You get shed-loads of kelp and dried kelp from this.

Btw an important tip - never close Minecraft with the kelpfarm turned on. It will break the farm the next time you log into the world

The thing is that you need to build it in a chunk, if you do it in the middle of two, it won't work, try it in the center of a chunk
This also works with inf bone meal just replace the smoker with composters !!

Have you left the farm alone while it was turned on?
If it grew to the level of the pistons, just add a lever to cycle the pistons manually and it'll Kickstart the whole thing again. If it's staying below the level of the pistons, break the kelp (not the sand lol) and replant. If you do like I did and break the sand, replace all of it, and start on the side block instead of on top of the piston. Personally, I can't figure out what the sand in the bottom is for anyway, I disconnected my sticky pistons altogether and replaced the sand in the grow chamber with dirt blocks, and it seems to work just fine.
Also, I know light isn't supposed to matter with kelp, but add a couple torches or get ahold of a couple glow stones and add them. It's not supposed to matter I don't think, but I'm sure mine grew faster with a little light.

Great fuel farm but little xp
Did anyone else's farm randomly stop working? Everything is the same but it no longer produces kelp like before
Could be the sand, sometimes when you leave the farm turned On and leave the area, the game stops loading it because it's far away, since this model is 0 ticks using a bug, discharges and re charges the chunks, the sand falls and stops the bug. You have to open the farm and fix it.
turns out the sand had duplicated so i had to break the sand underneath the pistons even though the sand on top was still there. still works like a charm!

I only get 1 kelp per flick of the lever. Pistons on top penetrate the water flow when the machine is working. Ince stopped, water flows over them

Yeah. The same thing is happening to me not sure why though.
So how do you collect all of the xp?
Use the levers on the Smokers, the lever should 'point' down. Then collect the next dried seaweed from it and the stacked xp will come out. Then you use the lever again so it 'points' up, and can start collecting xp again
All the redstone is working for me however the kelp isnt growing to be hit by the pistons anyone know how to help ?

Ziro tick kelp farm bake baby let's go . It better work for sugarcane as well for easy and a lot of emeralds , bone meal . This used to be a thing in 1.16 if it's working for kelp it should probably work for sugarcane and bamboo

My kelp isnt even growing but i cant see chunk borders so i dont know if that's why
@@lewisharris6592to find your chunk borders without adding anything to the game, just break out your calculator. Find a coordinate that is divisible by 16 on both the x and the z coordinate. That's the northwest corner of that chunk. Mark it, count 16 blocks over to the east, and you have your line for one side. Then count 16 blocks to the south, and you have your 3rd corner, then repeat and you can easily find the fourth.
Also, apparently if you leave the farm running when you leave the area (maybe that chunk? ) it breaks it. If your kelp grew up to the level of the pistons, just add a lever to the redstone circuit and cycle them manually once. It should kick start it again. If not, you may need to replant the kelp.
after many trials and errors i finally, the farm worked

Lol I did it. It's not tough. I spent a while figuring out collection and piping to the crafter so distribution was fairly even, but I built this farm with a 12 block wide grow chamber. I placed downward hoppers on the bottom of the 24 smokers, then hoppers from 3 sections of 8 smokers each into both sides and the top of the crafter. The problems I encountered were that the farm didn't produce enough keep to keep up with the smokers, and the smokers weren't producing enough to keep up with the hoppers, so distribution was unequal and some furnaces would run out while others filled up and shut off. There's always the problem of the hoppers keeping the crafter fed too, it can go very fast. I used an Etho Hopper Clock with an observer to fix most of my issues there. Most problems you'll encounter will be with designing the hopper system for one that big. Honestly, I'm still not happy with it, but it's working and doesn't look line a 3 year old got ahold of my controller and placed random hoppers everywhere lol. The first 3 designs did in fact look like an epileptic dog had my controller in its mouth during a seizure. And they didn't work very well at all. On my third time, I simplified it a lot. I eliminated a lot of chests from the design, and surprise surprise, simple works better.
I put hoppers into both sides, and up one, and I put a hopper on the top. I put a large chest on top of those, and piped 8 smokers into each chest. It worked like a champ. My best advice is, just watch it all in action, figure out what the problem is, and tinker and redesign until you either fix it or break it badly. When you break it badly, just return to the original design and play with it until your happy with how it works. Just keep tinkering with it, you'll figure it out pretty quickly.

Still works on Bedrock 27/06/24. Build inside a chunk, don't leave the machine on when you leave the chunk (but you can leave the smokers smoking) and you'll be fine
I accidentally left mine on and now kelp won't grow anymore... do I need to rebuild it?

Update: behind the Redstone repeater I had 2 sand blocks that fell down. I wondered where they went but now it works as it should. Kelp still breaks occasionally but that's still low maintenance for the production if provides
Idk if anyone haves this but the bottom sand block will get stuck at the bottom after a bit of time idk if it just dose this or not

I had this problem too. I ended up just letting the bottom sand full up the cavity under it, replacing it, and placing it against the side instead of on the piston. It worked much better that way for me. Also, if one piece breaks, replace all of it. Personally, I can't figure out why we're using sand there anyway, I replaced it with dirt blocks in the grow chamber and it seems to work just fine. I didn't get a lot of keep from it either way though, so I redesigned with a second grow chamber on top, second set of pistons, a different collection system and an autocrafter to make the kelp blocks. I also went much wider, 12 wide in the grow chamber to get it to fit in the chunk borders. I also have a bamboo farm in the same chunk, so that might have affected the grow rates somehow, idk.
I also had a problem with it breaking the bottom row of kelp and I couldn't get it to stay in the ground at first. I don't know how I fixed that, I just kept messing with it and it started working lol. Don't get frustrated, just watch it in action, figure out what's happening, and try different things with it. You can always go back to the original design if it fails, so you've broken nothing. Just keep tinkering, you'll get it figured out.

Its kind of buggy to mess with it once u get it going the best way to increase xp is ro just use hoppers out of the front of it and ad more smelters
It's very hit and miss. I've built this in the same chunk in 3 different spots on the same realm on PS5. It works great in one and not at all on the other two. It seems if there's a lot going on around the farm it doesn't seem to work.

See after redstone clock you connect sticky piston and after that torches have to be place after the redstone ends for sticky piston and the same block which redstone is from backside on the left side of the block place torch their and then place like they have told
I missed this torch that's why my farm wasn't working in a loop and it kept breaking
